There is nothing quite as cruel as a child. Insults, bullying, stealing, ostracism. All things Sarah has experienced regularly at school. Children will do all kinds of horrible things to others even the slightest bit different from them. With someone like Sarah, they can be especially mean.

It all started sometime in kindergarten. One of the boys in her class pulled her behind the school during recess and out of pure childish curiosity asked to see what "girls had down there." At first, they became friends, the other little boy not realizing it was strange that Sarah had both bits down there. Merely assuming that all girls had both. The information spread around, and even though the ones in the know thought it was odd, nothing ever came of it.

At least not until middle school. The truth came out in sex-ed, and soon the bullying started. Even her best friend from kindergarten joined in, calling her all kinds of nasty things. She spent every moment of the next week crying in her room, skipping her homework, and not even bothering to go to school unless her parents physically dragged her there. Luckily for her, her parents were decent people, and comforted her during all of this. Eventually, she went back almost to normal, doing her work, going to classes, etc. But she never was the same again.

What was once a happy, active girl had changed into an incredibly shy and reclusive one. She often sneaks into the school library during recess to get away from the other children so she can read, enjoying the silence. Recently she's even started to write. Originally she stuck to simple self-insert fantasies, or even childish fan-fiction, but lately her writing has become more sophisticated, with her mother even submitting her work to local junior author contests. She even came in second with her last short story!

She still dreams of meeting someone who finally accepts her for who she is. One who can get past her classmate's taunts and jeers and see the sweet young girl that she is.
