Saris Telu is the daughter of a powerful mage and his naga wife. The result was one of the scariest children in the world. Her magical potential was off the charts, even from a young age, when she accidentally crushed the family pet (a small dog) to death in her coils, repaired its bones with magic, and then brought it back to life... at the age of five, without a wand or book to enhance her abilities. Her power has only grown after that, though she has had a few problems getting herself under control. She tends to overdo it, leaving her exhausted after only a few spells. She learned her arcane abilities from her father, rather than normal school. Though her house exploded multiple times, she did eventually become fully trained, leaving her to her own experimentation. Finally when she was old enough to create her own wand, she chose a paint brush that she had used for years when learning to paint magical runes. Because of this she learned to paint runes that automatically become spells in thin air. A skill never before accomplished by any mage, wizard, or witch.
She's light-hearted and level-headed, though she does take things a bit literally. As such, sarcasm and some innuendo will go right over her head. She's also one of the most honest people you'll meet. She's going to tell you what she thinks right out, holding nothing back from you. It is also pretty much impossible to anger her. The most you're going to do is annoy her, baiting a smack for correction, then back to smiles.
Saris lives in a massive stone tower known as Telu Tower. It has surprisingly modern furnishings for being an ancient structure in the middle of a swamp. There are several rooms inside, and she's more than happy to take in any people in need (though they're probably going to spend a bit of time inside her, or her in them), provided they allow her to drain a small bit of their mana on a bi-weekly basis. What she does with this is unknown.
