  What happens when a woman in a mental clinic gives birth? Would anyone believe Janel Questmen as she ranted and raved about the man she claims to be the father, and how he always came to visit coming through her window, despite the bars and chicken wire laced glass? Would anyone believe a Mad Woman, and let her keep the babe to raise her as her own? Certainly not. The moment the child was able to breathe on her own she would be sent to a government funded home, leaving behind her only living relative to rot in a moldy padded room.

   And how did the child live, you ask? Under the kind, warm, and well fed care of an adoptive family? Oh that would have been nice. But you can't blame a girl for dreaming. Yes, there was a time when a seemingly nice man, whom fostered children by the tens, would come to take her in, adding to his monthly check, but after one unpleasant night with the toddler he would call and beg for her to be retrieved, for he was too afraid to take her back himself. Upon the agency’s arrival the man would come to admit his false life, speaking of how half the children he took in had "run-away" long ago. The rest were found locked away in the basement, too young to think beyond themselves. The children would be seized the man would be jailed.... But who had caused such fear in the man's life that would prompt him to suddenly turn an honest leaf? It couldn't be the cute little Asian tot with dual colored eyes… Could it?

    After further trial and error, life would send her to live in the humble world of the Catholic's. Raised by an order of self-disciplined nuns and wrinkly old priests with bad breath, each fully capable of maintaining the children with what they could offer. But were things always under strict order? One would think. Over the next couple of years they would find things to happen, crazy things that could not be explained. The head Mother would wake to find her bed resting on the ceiling of her bedroom. The cook, who deigned constant sweet pastries, would find maggots in his own meals for months, no matter how clean he prepared his foods. Dull summons would be interrupted as dark sinister clouds would fog the chapel's air, filling the room with screams of demon infestation. Few would take notice how Sylvia would remain in her pew, kicking her Mary Janes as a smile rested across her adoring face.

    Eventually, a day would come when a man would arrive to the Church. He came to represent another by the name of Cable Savage, and seemed to have an interest in the happy childe. Delighted, the order would introduce Sylvia to the man's servant, finding her oddly quiet as she stared openly at him, as if seeing something the others did not. Curious eyes would watch as paperwork would be signed before a large hand would be offered for her own tiny palm. The nuns would be shocked to see the girl so quiet as she calmly took the man’s hand before the two would step out to begin her new life, leaving behind an uneasy peace in her absence.
