A Savage deathclaw is believed to be just another more savage version of a Deathclaw Matriarch just with a broken horn. This can be proven by both of them having the same color yellow lines on their body and the spread out horn. However unlike the Matriarch's skin color the Savage has a most rustic hide. While the two have similarities the Savage Deathclaw has a higher attack power as well higher resistance and health. Having a very high amount of health for a creature of this level and are incredibly resistant to most damage types, particularly energy damage it's a much dangerous match then that of a Matriarch.
While most dont know why it has taken on a more rustic color or how it lost it's horn, it's still something to avoid in the wasteland. Their versatile combat style makes them a hefty opponent even if they are lower level. When aggravated, they will initiate combat by roaring and stomping the ground, causing a shockwave.
