The Heretic, a relic of the past. A mirror reflecting the hope that Nightveil's humanity once had and the catastrophe that fell upon those who tried to make a difference. In a past life, Scarla was a heroine- A master swordsman who bravely fought the Terrors and defended her village. Now, she is a heretic. A traitor. Someone who threw away their humanity and their own people just for power. Unfortunately, that choice was not hers to make.

At the age of 32, a group of cultists captured Scarla after a bloody exchange. Out of a group of swordsmen from the village of Hourai, Scarla was the only survivor when they were ambushed by cultists. She was the strongest. A perfect vessel. Taken away to an unknown location, Scarla was forced to bind her soul to the cursed sword Heresy. A blade that rapidly corrupted and deteriorated her body by the second just from being drawn. A process that could only be halted or healed by reaping the souls of humans. Even after Scarla slaughtered her cultist captors and escaped with Heresy and her new power, the cultists' goals had succeeded. They had turned the swordsman into a monster.

The Heretic now wanders freely in isolation. She hunts and gathers to survive, seldom forced to feast on humans that cross her path in order to keep herself safe and to maintain her humanity. Her personality is cold and somewhat brutal, a coarse shell hiding away her deep inner guilt and depression.
