"This is not an academy for learning. This is an Academy for survival. Do not expect to come in here and simply study your craft, or come here to think we can make a warrior, a mage, a gunner... or even capable of wielding a weapon, let alone wielding it effectively. This is an academy that is necessary to train the future defenders of our cities. To train the new weapon crafters, the great heroines and heroes, and maybe even the occasional Villain. There is only two rules in this academy. Listen to your instructor...and Survive. Think your even capable of the task?
- Principal Marla's Opening address to new students and their parents.
Back story and Setting
First things first. This isn't Earth. It never has been, and never will be. There are no gigantic sprawling cities, or massive continents that are filled with village after village. That just can't happen.
Why, you ask?
The monsters won't let them.
Oh sure, a city can grow to the size of a, say, modern day New Orleans in the case of a port town. But as soon as a city becomes too big, too much of a threat...its always been overwhelmed by whatever local monster population lives near it, simply by sheer numbers. Sorry folks, there are more of them then there ever will be of you.
Now, you may not even be the predominant species either. Humans, sadly, are far from the most predominant species, having been outnumbered by the Kemonomimi and elves due to sheer survival skills, though the three races tend to stay very close to each other in the long run. Humans being the strongest of the three, the elves being the most magically inclined, and the Kemonomimi having superior senses. There are also lesser races, the Youkai and Sentient Monsters, though those are very far and few between, as most of their kind tend to keep to themselves and despise the humans too much.
Now, onto Senel itself. Senel is the largest of many 'public war schools' or 'Battle Academies' in the world, hosting upwards of 3000 students of all races. No matter your vocation, you can learn it at Senel. Marksmanship, swordplay, jousting, magical studies, stealth, tracking, smithing, technological magic are just a few of the numerous courses taught on the campus.
The school is far more like a university, with a main building in the middle for theoretical and non-battle oriented studies. Around it are ten,yes ten, large arenas used for applicative studies in battle, monster fighting, and even 'competitive war'. Further out from them are the dormitories, where all the students live and sleep, and even further from there is the dark forest, home to many a monster species and numerous ruins and dungeons that the students are sent out to retrieve objects from, whether they are newly found or placed within by the instructors.
The ten arenas are necessary as they separate the ten classes. Each new student starts in class ten and works their way up to class zero, also known as 'hero' or 'heroine' status. To progress from one grade to the other, its not age, or knowing some special thing, or even showing prowess in your swordplay, magic, or marksmanship necessarily. No, the first five class groups are determined through progressing and defeating a certain number of monsters gauged for your classes level, either in a team or by ones self. The last five are earned either in a similar manner, or showing your progress by going out, again either in a team or by ones self, and completing tasks inside the dark forest without needing a rescue by other students or even instructors.
From Class One to Five, there is little to no danger on the part of the student. There is the occasional accidental death, but for the most part, the instructors are good about keeping the students safe. From class five on, though, death happens...students are killed, either by the monsters they face or simply by pushing themselves too hard, or even by other jealous students, something that is encouraged. All the students are encouraged to fight each other to better themselves of course, to a certain degree...
Specifics/OOC
As one can tell, this is not so much a single person, but a full world that can have any number of people within it, with your character(s) taking part in it also. This is a whole world, a setting perhaps that stories can be crafted from. Anything is possible, but the world itself and the setting are what's important.
There is no set story, set characters, or set monsters even. I take what you tell me, what your character is like, and i craft my part around you. If your a teacher, I may be playing a class for you to teach and hone. If your a monster, you may get students fighting you, or even befriending you for help in a dungeon. If your a student, or learning warrior, you'll be around classmates and teachers trying to help you.
The biggest thing is to keep an open mind. I'm trying to, so should you!
In the following link are a number of pictures I may or may not refer to. Yes, i can come up with an idea of each 'girl's personality from that list, and yes I tend to play women. I cant help it, i'm a girl ^^

Any kinks mentioned may or may not happen. My biggest kink? Development, Story, plot...it could be as simple as day to day classes and arena training, to unearthing a ruin deep in the ground that you and your partners have to explore.
I have a special love of playing multiple characters...if you can handle it, we'll do very well together!
