When in Rome; Or, The Empress's New Set of Clothes; Or, The Curious Incident of the Eldritch Thing in the Nighttime
Beyond space and time, in the endless void that exists between universes, a being of fantastical cosmic power grew bored. Now this being
wasn't exactly a stranger to boredom, in fact it had been bored many a time before. You see this was
Ser'en'ity
the eldritch horror of nightmares. And as it often did when it was bored, it gazed into the various spheres of existense.
As it gazed, however, it noticed a strange commonality amongst the spheres. A single name kept popping up repeatedly. Obrove. A minor wizard
with a serious case of the Rincewinds. Anomalys deserved to be studied and so Ser'en'ity turned it's terrible sight upon reappearing
wizard. Each universe seemed to have one, though they had their differences. There was a
Wizard proper,
and
Some kind of bunny witch and even something
A bit like itself.
Ser'en'ity plucked a few Obroves from their respected universes and tasted them, breaking them down to their component molecules. Seeing
nothing particularly noteworthy that would require such repetition, Ser'en'ity decided to try to make one herself to see what all the buzz
was about.
The Lady Herself; Or, Of Ghosts and Ghoulies; Or, Home Is Where the Heart Is
Hailing from the mysterious Wisterian Woods, Serenity "Dandelion" Obrove is the land's top expert on matters of the occult and paranormal. Having
studied all forms of ghostbusting from the old masters, as well as diving into tomes written by those of questionable sanity, she
has found her calling as an exorcist and spirit medium. And she's proven to be quite the good one, too. Poltergeists and boogeymen of all
sorts have learned to fear her name and banishing
prowess. Or at least that's what she likes her clientele to believe.
The truth is while Serenity claims to have banished the spectres to the netherrealms in her studies she learned a very important fact
about banishment. Namely that it's really hard and time consuming. And then even if it works there's no guarantee that the ghost won't
just be back in a week or so. And that's bad for business. So Serenity developed a more fail safe method of getting rid of ghosts, she
takes them into her own body. They can't leave while possessing her and she has developed numerous methods of keeping hold of her body
while a spirit is riding along. It takes a high degree of willpower, but it's worth it. Well most of the time it is anyways. You see
Obrove's business has been doing gangbusters and she's been getting new clients out the wazoo. The old ways still work but she's
beginning to get a bit...full. Not literally, of course. Ghosts and spirits have no mass, but she's got too many crammed in her
nonetheless. With so many souls in her its sometimes hard to tell which one is the right one and occasionally her concentration wanes.
Such happenstance inevitably leads to her getting possessed proper and running around doing all manner of wild things. She's been researching
methods to increase her control, or to kick a few of the ghosts to the curb, but such things are time consuming and there is always a new
poltergeist running around causing trouble.
The Hither and Thither Expanded; Or, Drawing Back the Curtain!
Serenity Obrove is not the alternate universe analogue of the wizarding savant Daniel Obrove. She is not a what if, long lost cousin
or robotic duplicate. She is a tulpa created by an Old God to determine the cause of the Obroves, whereas Daniel
is some sort of planeswalker.
Additionally, this Obrove is not the same as any of the other countless Obroves one may find within the Hither and Thither. She is in
fact a fake, an imposter amongst their ranks. Will she be found out by her would be breathern? Only time may tell.
Other Obroves, younger by a couple years or older by countless centuries, can be found on their alt list,
here.
There are more "Danalogues" to come, eventually, so we kindly ask that you...
STAY TUNED!
