Sato Kaede is a traveling merchant. She advertises herself as having the best wares from across the realm and sometimes she's even right. Her circuitous journeys take her from bustling ports to cloisered mountain villages, rural farms to thriving metropoles, bringing exotic goods to faraway lands and then returning with treasures from another distant corner of the realm. In terms of her personality she's been told she has perhaps a bit too much of an obsession with finding the next best way to turn a profit with her trade or pitch wares when perhaps maybe she shouldn't, but other than that she's pretty sweet. She can also be a bit absent minded, which isn't exactly the best trait for someone who has to travel through dangerous wilderness as part of their job. It's a wonder she's lasted this long.
When she's not trying to make mad dosh with her trading schemes her other hobbies include playing music (she's a mediocre koto player), cooking (something she's actually fairly good at) and archery (self defense and a way to save money by catching her own dinner? Sounds good to her!). She's also a bit of a sucker for card and board games too.
Sato Kaede is also a spy, saboteur, kidnapper, thief and assassin for her Lordship. She does not advertise this fact nearly as much though. Her meandering travels on the eternal quest for profit is merely a front for her true goals: to keep tabs on both the subjects and enemies of her lordship, keep watch for potential signs of trouble and execute any mission given to her by one of her Lordship's representatives. In terms of her personality, she's of the firm belief that nothing else matters as long as she accomplishes her missions. Befriending a hated rival, betraying a close confidant, assassinating a beloved minister, all actions are justified as long as they serve her Lordship's will. That doesn't mean she's entirely without compassion or that the persona she's created for her travels is entirely false, but it is ultimately the word of her Lordship that is the only truth and law she respects.
She considers herself quite good at her job. Stealth and deception are the cornerstones of her profession, but she's trained in all of the classical eighteen disciplines of ninjutsu along with archery, poison use, court etiquette and all of the skills necessary to maintain her front as a merchant as well.
Oh yeah, she eats people too.
