The Au'Ra are unique among Eorzea's races in the extreme height disparity observed between genders. While male Au Ra can reach towering heights of over eight or nine feet, females are short and slight, averaging no more than four or five.

Their tails, horns, and interspersed scales across their skin distinguish them clearly from other races. It is difficult for the horns of an Au'Ra to be removed, and they do not fall off periodically like a deer's, instead growing continuously until they reach a certain size and length. If damaged or removed, the horns will regrow and repair themselves over the course of a couple months or so. The Au Ra use these to hear and enhance their sense of spatial perception. This does not make their hearing better than the average human, but they hear and process sound differently, through the vibration of the air within the surpisingly porous material. The tails are also somewhat different to those of other races, being sensitive any touch of the underside but hardened on the sides. These can vary in size and width. A healthy diet will result in these tails growing fatter and fatter as they are used primarily as nutrient storage. They do gain fat in other areas, of course, but it is not uncommon so see an Au'Ra gorging themselves for a trip or exercise purely so they do not have to eat for longer periods of time. A properly tail-fattened Au'Ra can subsist off of only what they have stored for up to three days.
Shion herself is a Raen species of Au'Ra, noted by her ivory scales and sharp teeth and her diminutive height at 4'10". While she is cool to the touch, she is not cold blooded, instead possessing a relatively low body temperature. Her body is not entirely covered in scales, though there are notable areas that are partially covered on the bridge of her nose, neck, chin, forearms, feet, hips, and around her tailbone where the tail is attached. Her body also sees to retain aether as much as it would normal nutrients, restoring her magical banks as it would nutrient reserves.

The girl herself is a travelling scholar, mostly interested in ancient societies like Nym and practicing their techniques and whatnot in the field, more or less going wherever the world takes her on her adventures for knowledge. While there does seem to be something off about her, it's easy to ignore when one finds she is as sweet as they come. From her highly affectionate and warm personality to her very, very long fused temper, she roams around as she pleases or is needed. Her ability to heal using ancient Nymian magic is second to none, if costly to her MP reserves, and she's very liberal with its usage. Nothing ever seems too small or too large for her attention, from a papercut to a mortal wound, and she'd treat them with just the same urgency, even at cost to herself. She's also a fairly good cook, most of her knowledge picked up during her time in Ishgard. Cuisine has become a personal favorite of hers, sampling any local dish she can, despite her apparent dislike of vegetables. Technology beyond her usual level also might spook her a bit, but that's usually not the biggest issue.

TL;DR: Sweetheart Au'ra girl that does healer stuff, roams around, cooks things and samples local cuisine.
