Update! As the new picture might indicate, I have elected to age Shou up, mostly because I found a picture I thought perfectly suited. She is now either of age or just before it, in high school and dating Hotaru. She has also learned of and decided to embrace her baku nature, in part thanks to discovering a few mementos and a message left by her grandfather tucked away in the attic. Her father denies his other side to this day, but her grandfather left for her a beautiful black-and-gold kimono, woven of arachne thread and enchanted to always fit the intended wearer perfectly, and a strange cane that had been owned by the baku whose blood first mingled with her family line's. This cane is the key to a baku's true powers, allowing her to put someone to sleep at will and enter their dreams, as well as collecting the dream to allow her to eat it in a more normal way than swallowing the dreamer whole.

... that said, she's gotten to enjoy eating dreams in that particular way even if she no longer technically -needs- to... and she's developed a fondness for the taste of a certain dreamer or two that she's shared her secret with...

Everyone knows the saying "cute enough to eat". Although even in the Park, it's usually not meant literally. But... have you ever met a girl who's cute enough to... feed?

Clothing: Almost always wears her school uniform, a typical Japanese sailor outfit, usually with her swimsuit on under it. Wears a coat while outside unless it's really warm, and often a cute woolen hat.

After many troubling months, Shou has finally unlocked the secrets to her dreams... a chance encounter with the strange, gentle demon Eurynome helping her to reveal all...
To put it simply? Shou is a baku- or, well, the youngest member of a baku's bloodline. She hasn't just been dreaming about people... she's been entering into other people's dreams herself in the night, and the act of eating the dreamer? In reality, her body is doing what it was born to do... devouring the very dream she has entered...

And what might a baku be? Baku are a creature of Japanese lore, similar in appearance to a tapir but possessed of incredible cunning and stealth. They have the unique ability to induce sleep in those around them, and to enter and consume the dream of any sleeper. It's even entirely possible for them to force the sleeper to start having one, if they haven't already! Some more recent lore speaks of baku having the ability to induce a particular dream the sleeper has experienced before, and even to bring them along (lucidly) into the dream with them, so long as the sleeper is able to describe the desired dream to them in enough detail.

What does this mean for Shou? It's certainly far enough back that her baku blood doesn't show. But she does have all the abilities, even if she's still not fully aware of the full scope of them. With the right inflection and words, she can put someone into a deep sleep, and force them to relive dreams that they've had, provided they've described the dream to her beforehand. And, of course, she can physically enter someone's dream, much like an incubus. She generally only does this while sleeping herself, on instinct (especially when the moon calls to her), but if she so desired, she could consciously use it.

And, of course, once inside of a dream, she can eat that dream. There are apparently a lot of differing opinions on this, so let me nail things down. If Shou eats someone's dream, they will be completely unharmed. However, unless she brought them into the dream, they will not remember any of it, and they will be forever unable to have that particular dream again. Consuming a dream -is- particularly nutritious to Shou (this is why she keeps waking up with a bit of pudge on her belly), and if she consciously entered (which hasn't happened yet), she'll also be able to taste that dream... dreams taste far better than standard fare to a baku (Shou included)... and heaven help us all if she ever learns how particularly exquisite a blood-soaked nightmare tastes...



Little Shou-chan. She's a sweet girl hailing from Hokkaido's famous port city Hakkodate. She's a pretty average girl, too, despite some intriguing rumors as to where her family got its name... but that's getting ahead of ourselves.

Shou is in sixth grade now, happily enrolled in one of Hakodate's many public elementary schools and eagerly awaiting her promotion to junior high come the spring. Living both within the colder climes of Hokkaido, where the winters are easily cold enough for snow, and on the port, Shou has become very fond of water in both of its tangible forms. Winter often finds her out and about, bundled up but enjoying the snow wherever it might fall, and the summer often finds her diving into the waves that practically surround her hometown. She's even on the swim team at school, although she has yet to take up any sort of snow sport.

With her natural cuteness and her talent amidst the waves, Shou has gotten popular at school, making a great many friends even in despite of her name- and even a few true friends, that rare but special kind of person who'll stick by you even when you're not popular or cute. Like Hotaru, her class president, who sat off to the side with her when she got sick- at his own birthday, no less! Or Miki, her sempai from the next grade up, who she shares every single one of her secrets with and who never, ever thinks she's weird.

That last friendship proved very handy when the dreams first came.

They started one January night, after a long and happy day of swimming about in a new indoor, heated pool, the warm water feeling utterly good after the long walk through the chilly wind outside. Shou had gotten home a bit on the late side, ate dinner, and promptly flopped into bed, too tired even to take off her swimsuit. But, even as she drifted off to sleep, it seemed to her that she immediately woke again, this time in 6C's classroom. The sunlight outside was dimming, the time obviously twilight and well after school. With a blush, Shou discovered that she was still in her swimsuit... and with another blush, she looked up to see Hotaru standing in front of her, in that school uniform she always thought looked so cute on him.

Shou backed up, blushing and covering herself as best she could with her slim, bare arms, but Hotaru approached her, smiling gently. As he got nearer, her eyes seemed to be drawn to his slim form, and her belly gave a little gurgle... a strange hunger building in her depths. Hotaru's eyes seemed drawn almost immediately by the tiny gurgle, the boy blushing as he embraced her, leaning down a bit to press his forehead to the shorter girl's lips. Shou blushed, staring, and then let out a yelp as Hotaru suddenly began to force his head in between her lips. Flailing and pushing, crying out to him, Shou tried to pull back, but Hotaru seized her arms and pinned them to her sides, holding her still as he slowly force-fed himself to her... the little schoolgirl crying a little as her body took over, Hotaru's force and her own traitorous muscles dragging him deeper, Shou watching as inch by inch Hotaru's beautiful form vanished... until every bit of it was gone, Hotaru sighing happily from inside of her bloated stomach. Shou whimpered, cradling her belly as she sat on the floor, clothes shredded by the expansion of her stomach. She could feel Hotaru moving inside of her, stroking her stomach's walls and whispering to her that it was okay, he wanted this... that he could never deny her need... and Shou simply sat there, cradling his slowly moving form and trying to let the boy comfort her...

It was hard to tell even Miki about the dream the next day, but tell her she did. Miki thought about it for a long while, and then brought Shou in to see her father, a known psychiatrist, who listened and then nodded. Though he had never heard of actual consumption, he explained that for a girl on the cusp of puberty, as Shou clearly was, dreams about coming to somehow possess a precious person were far from unusual. Her devouring of Hotaru in the dream was merely her desire to hold on to him forever, and the fact that he had given himself to her was a sign that she wanted him to share the same desire.

Shou was less troubled after this explanation, and more so after she ran into Hotaru the next day to find him perfectly fine... though some things about it didn't ring true. She hadn't wanted Hotaru to do that... the entire dream had been her trying to stop him... and, there was the ending of the dream, which she had held back even from Miki. Because, after a while, Hotaru had stopped talking or even moving... and then the bulge he had created within her belly had slowly began to shrink, until nothing was left of the class president but a tiny bit of soft pudge on her previously toned belly.

And worse, the dream returned again exactly one full moon later... only this time, it was in Miki's bedroom, and Shou was wearing nothing but her cute little undergarments, exactly what she had been wearing when she went to sleep. But otherwise, it was exactly the same. This time it was Miki, kissing her little kohai's cheek gently and hugging her before forcing herself down and into Shou's eager belly, cooing and rubbing lovingly before she, too, became just a little soft layer atop Shou's belly... a soft bit of pudge that Shou discovered on her own belly when she finally woke up the next morning, trembling and distressed even after a call to Miki confirmed her closest friend was all right.

Since then, the dreams have been getting more and more frequent, each time linked to some special phase of the moon. They've also grown to a wider range, often in places Shou has never seen and with people she's never met. Despite the unfamiliarity, each time Shou has slept and been made to devour someone in her dreams, waking to find her belly just a little bit softer... and now, her belly has started to rumble a little when she looks at certain, special people, and once or twice she's even caught someone looking wistfully at her soft little belly...
