In the Heian Era, the king of Mount Ooe was a commander of many fearsome demons.
There are many origin stories surrounding Shuten Douji. One goes that she was born on Mount Ibuki to Yamata-no-Orochi and a human girl, another says she descended as the Dragon King Kuzuryuu's godseed. But no matter what, she is the child of a dragon god: something that bestows upon her tremendous power and shape-shifting abilities. Regarding her birth, Shuten Douji does not often reveal much. Her other name, Ibuki Douji, sometimes confuses her with another demon born on the base of Mount Ibuki: Ibaraki Douji. It is said she does not think much on this topic, aside from the fact she misses her 'bride'. As long as there is good wine, good food and absolutely pleasurable appetizers, she has no regrets on her birth...or anything else really~!
The first stories of Shuten Douji (Shuten for short) as a man eater began within Kyoto, teenage girls began to disappear one after another with little trace left behind aside from inhuman tracks leading towards Mount Ooe. A legendary priest's divination revealed that the cause was none other than Shuten Douji. Minamoto no Raikou, along with her Four Heavenly Kings, were ordered by the Emperor to retaliate and so they disguised themselves, brought gifts of poisoned wine, and came to the evil of the demon lair within the mountain. During a banquet, they convinced Shuten Douji and the other demons to drink the poisoned wine. The moment they fainted, the men swarmed in to kill them~!
Legend has it that after being beheaded, Shuten Douji's head suddenly jumped forth to attack Raikou, but she only managed to clamp onto her helmet.
Demons aren't so easily done away with though and the king under Mount Ooe found it best to find new, savory hunting grounds to sate her appetites in...~

Answers for some questions. Shuten has no set gender because she is a shapeshifter that can assume a wide variety of forms. Hell, the one you see in front of you isn't even her true form, just one she is comfortable in~! That said, she favors female or extremely female-like bodies so don't expect to see a full male Shuten-Douji very often...if at all, most of the time she just 'borrows' the equipment she desires and little else.
No Shuten is not a loli...she is neither young nor does she look like a young child, she's just short and petite in the boobs/hips department. Seeing a child-like Shuten-Douji means one is looking at the lure for a very dangerous trap to be caught in.
Yes, Shuten is capable of opening up all sorts of cans of whoop-ass if it is required of her. Aside from being a potent Servant, she was the god-sired oni offspring that became known as one of the Three Great Calamities to terrorize her homeland and commands the respect of oni, humands, and other demonkin. Those who don't show that respect will find the drunken, fun-loving side of her is just that..one side of her vicious personality.
Yes, she likes big boobs but also resents them. Comes from being 'passed up' for titsy middle-aged hags like Raikou in the past. And yes she can fix this 'problem' by shapeshifting. And she often does too, but only for those people who understand that small breasts can be sexy too~<3
