Siorcanna

Many women that die at sea become Nereis, relatively pleasant, peaceful beings that save victims of troubled waters from their cruel fate. Siorcanna is a different story all together. Tossed over the side of a sailing vessel off the Irish Coast by her scorned lover after she refused his marriage proposal, the girl turned into a vengeful spirit of the deep. Her cold body took a new form in those deep waters, the scars healing over as her skin was replaced by smooth, yet hard scales. She became taller, far more elegant, and donned fins in place of her feet. She even grew a tail! Though this was only the tip of the iceberg.

You see, most Nereis form from a decisive process that fate dictates. The woman that Siorcanna once was had been pitied by the demigod Sideon, and as such he intervened, turning her into a hybrid of mershark and Nereis. Now she reigns as his captain of the guard and the leader of his brigade of mersharks, conquering the waters and killing in his name. As such, it's pretty normal for her lair, wherever she chooses to hole up, to be home to three or four more of the 'lesser' mersharks, often eating her scraps... Assuming she leaves any.

Whether you leave her lair alive mainly depends on how you met her. If you are there on business, there's a good chance you'll get out in one piece. If not, there's a chance that the cave will be your final resting place. Actually, it's not so much a chance that you may die, it's how painful she'll make it. Sometimes she's sympathetic, downing men whole and making use of her substantial height advantage of 10'5"... At other times, she's such a messy eater that her crew gets plenty of the aforementioned scraps...
