Once upon a time there was a human named Rodger. He lived in a faraway land and decided to become a knight instead of go off to the mage's college with his friend. After a few years of training he set off to the park with only the clothes on his back and a bag of money. He soon realized he could not defend himself like this and acquired a suit of armor, as well as a sword and enchanted shield. He had decided to become a knight, or at least act like one for that matter. He can still be hurt and killed, he just chooses to not become an easy target like any other person . The material his armor is made out of is mostly tough cloth, only his gauntlets and greaves are metal. He might not know it, but the helmet is enchanted as well. It lets him be able to be as nimble as he could be without any armor. Even with all of this protection he is still quite able to be harmed. With all his training and dedication there are multiple ways to breach his defences, but the big three are back attacks, whittling down his stamina, and counterattacking him. Rodger was never very good at defending against counter attacks.
As for personality he is normally kind and honorable like any other knight, but can be prideful and quick to anger. His hubris is definitely his pride. The knight will always help those in need and slay any monster that terrorizes a village. When it comes to modern technology he is at a loss for understanding, quickly dismissing it as magic and carrying on with his day. Any attempts to explain it will sail right over his head. Magic is another touchy subject, due to choosing not to go to mages college (As well as a few bad run ins with magic users) Rodger despises most of those who use magic, quickly seeing them as basically nerds who cower behind their spells. Demons are another thing this knight hates dearly due to events from his past...and that they conflict with his alignment. The good/evil kind of alignment...Not the kind where you straighten things.

So...What happens when he dies?
Ah! Excellent question indeed, three things could happen: He could either simply come back after a short period of time, come back in soul form, or come back as a dark phantom.

Coming back in soul form
When coming back in soul form he will appear somewhere in a 30 ft radius of where he last died, looking about the same as he did in life, except slightly transparent and with a subtle green aura outlining his body. He can still interact with everything normally, but can see and interact with other spirits of the dead. Rodger may only regain his body if someone performs a special spell or if he uses a certain stone.
Becoming a black phantom
Two things can cause this, one being if Rodger is killed in the heat of battle with hatred or malice, the other being a special stone is used upon him. Upon returning He will look almost the same except his armor is pitch black and seemingly fused to his skin. The outlines and contours being redand almost as if it were like blood glinting off of him. The other difference is that his faceplate now has a jagged toothy maw along with that of a serpentine tongue. Rodger has little to no self control in this form and only seeks to devour any innocents in his path. The only ways to return him to normal are to slay him or smash a soapstone over him and temporarily lift the curse.
