Slokan

There are some beings that transcend time and space for the sake of obtaining power, and some that do it for the sake of their very survival. The latter is the case for Slokan, one of the last of the mythical race of demons known as the Firekin. A swordsman by trade and a swallower of souls by simple nature, Slokan's a pretty simple demon to be perfectly honest, his most distinct traits being his ability to change shape between four forms (that shall be discussed in a moment) and his odd sense of protective nature, which is rather rare amongst the Firekin.

The reason he's come to this Nexus is rather simple, admittedly. A short time ago in his home plain of Eldarin, crusaders of an elf-like race known as the Vutaci started slaying his kinsmen, as well as other demons. He initially tried to stand and fight the Vutaci Crusaders in order to attempt to save his people from decimation, but ultimately he was cast out into another dimension by one of the few Vutaci he could call a friend, simply because she desired to save him. He appeared here shortly after and has since been trying to find a way to return to his home realm, but to no avail. The energies of this area seem to be binding him to this place.

Most notable about the Firekin in general are their control over their respective element (obviously, that of fire) and their ability to change between four forms. The first is rather human like, though it still bears the rather large horns that the other forms have. It also sports a rather large tail with an ember lightly burning on its end, which cannot be doused with regular water and burns holy objects. The second form is that of a lamia, with similar features, though the tail replaces the legs. The third is that of a winged lamia with large, silver talons, and finally the last form is that of a winged serpent of massive size.

While he can change between his forms at will, Slokan prefers his first two forms for casual day-to-day events. While oft soft-spoken and deceptively calm, Slokan is still a hunter and will occasionally have to feed, oft by consuming humans or lesser beings (or, in some cases, even other demons or angels) whole and absorbing their spiritual essence thereafter. Despite this fact, he is a relatively kind soul, and seems to stress that he only does as he does for the sake of survival, and would be content to sooner sustain himself on mere food in a sense that normal people do. Sure, he can eat like anyone else, but the souls or essences derived thereof are what give him his power and keep him alive. He does have a bit of a taste for sake and other fine alcoholic beverages, and oftentimes this can lead to some rather odd situations, sometimes to the benefit or misfortune of any attractive soul in the nearby area.

Most commonly, though, he serves as a sort of bounty hunter for the time he's stuck in the realm, and will simply consume most of his targets as to keep himself alive. It pays well, and he can say that he gets an odd sense of fulfillment out of it.
