BACKGROUND
Born both unwanted and the product of the union between an elven maid and a human man, Natala was an outcast in the elven society from the word 'go'. And so, growing up on the fringes of the gutter and marginalized at every turn in her life, she did what every other self-respecting outcast has done and turned to a life of crime.

Leaving the forest, she made for human lands, where she no more fit in with proper society, but was more accepted among the detritus that washes into the gutter. She briefly joined a gang of thieves and, after displaying some talent at her chosen craft, was inducted into the thieves guild.

With her nimble fingers, athletic build, and elven blood, she proved to be a more then capable thief, with a specialty for daring acrobatics and deft scaling of things that were never meant to be climbed. She discovered that the life of the pick-pocket or footpad where not for her; no, she could aspire to something even greater then these! Nor was she any simple second-story man, either. No, Natala set her sights higher... she wanted to burgle the grand shrines in the Temple District, the houses of the fabulously rich in the Cloud District, the counting houses in the Merchant's Quarter, and the opulent palaces of the nobility. She didn't want to be just any thief... she wanted to be the greatest thief!

Natala doesn't do what she does for the money. She does it for the decadent thrill of getting away with something that should, by all rights, get her killed. It's the adrenaline rush of disarming a trap, the tension of dodging around guards, the anticipation of the payoff, and most of all, the simple pride of being able to overcome all of those defenses and steal that which is supposedly secure.

Nimble and daring, Natala uses the natural agility of her elven heritage to her advantage frequently. She's quiet stealthy and possesses a true gift for staying out of sight when she desires, as well as being particularly adept at silent movement. Her elven blood gives her access to a few simple magical spells, which she often employs to strong results, but she is by no means a wizard of any stripe. Her strongest enchantments pale in comparison to what a true wizard can casually achieve; it is Natala's knack for employing them creatively that has earned her the nickname 'Spellthief'.
