Suze

Alt of FEF, but the wonderful art is courtesy of Nukey.

Suze was always something of a misfit. For reasons unknown, she grew up far from Poni Island, the traditional home of other Sensu Oricorio like herself. Instead, she grew up on Melemele Island, home of the bright and bubbly Pom-Pom Oricorio. Suffice to say, Suze never got along well with them.

And so she turned to the company of ghosts instead. While most of her kind invoke arcane dances to summon ghosts for use in battle, Suze summons spirits to chat with. As depressing as that sounds, ghosts can make for fine companions, oftentimes looking for simple conversation to relieve the tedium of the afterlife. So despite categorically being an outsider to all of the standard social groups, Suze is still relatively well-adjusted - far from being a recluse, she's open to conversations with all sorts of people. She just doesn't usually go out of her way looking for them, since summoning a ghost to her is quicker than searching for a stranger.

That's not to say she's completely normal, however. Suze's early and frequent exposure to spirits has given her a rather nonchalant attitude towards death. Although she'd personally rather not die before completing a few personal goals, she'd not be very affected by the death of somebody close to her. After all, she can always summon their spirits back.

Similarly, although she's not the violent type by any means, if she had to kill somebody to accomplish something, she'd not be totally opposed to that. Suze respects that people have life goals that can't be accomplished in death, but simply doesn't understand the notion of life having any inherent value beyond that.

Like all Sensu, her dances involve both her arms and her wings, intertwining in a delicate and intricate dance that weaves spectral trails of mist through the air.

Although she never much cared for the peppy Pom-Pom Oricorio, being exposed to their electrifying energy has inspired a few changes in how she approaches dancing. Her movements, while still possessing the graceful flow of the Oricorio from Poni island, are much faster and more energetic. Her dancing style often confuses the spirits, who are used to the slower and more traditional summoning rites. Those who aren't scared off, however, often report feeling inspired. Some even say Suze's dances make them feel alive, for a brief moment.

When she's not dancing, she's actually rather clumsy. Don't judge - it's difficult walking around on talon, struggling to tuck your wings in so that they don't accidentally break something. When the time comes to dance, however, she's able to focus and pull herself together.

Suze's ultimate goal is to make the pilgrimage to Poni Island, home of others like her. Unfortunately, that's not as easy as it might seem, owing to the fact that her wings are too thin and flexible for proper flight over the vast ocean. She's determined to find a way, some day, but she's in no rush.
