Chrysalis Guardian, Swallowtail Blaze is at
Permavore_Risk, ohs noes!
Akiko Akiyama is just a normal schoolgirl... or
was until the Vile Hive Nest appeared and started trying to kidnap humans with righteous souls. That's when Akiko was awakened to a greater power within herself, becoming one of the Chrysalis Guardians and donning the magical mantle of 'Swallowtail Blaze'. And now life's a lot more frightening... but also exciting and, in it's own ways, special.
The other Chrysalis Guardians are worried that Blaze doesn't take the job of fighting an army of mantis-men seriously enough, but she counters that one couldn't possibly take fighting an army of mantis-men seriously or else they'd be 'nutszoid'. Akiko was never the brightest bulb in the bin, but what she lacks in brainpower she more then makes up for in positive attitude, self-confidence, and overwhelming, irritating exuberance. None of the other Guardians are nearly as gung-ho as Blaze and to her credit, the Monarch Spirit had to do the least amount of convincing to get Akiko to take up arms against the Vile Hive Nest.
So life as become a chaotic mess of balancing school, the track team, hanging out with her new friends (the other Guardians), hanging out with her old friends (a bunch of mundanes), and oh yeah, fighting off an army of mantis-men and other insectoid themed monsters of the week from time to time. And Akiko
LOVES it! Do you have any idea how
AWESOME all of this is? Even if it is, okay, a little scary... alright, a
lot scary at times... but everything's worked out in the end so far and Akiko sees no reason to believe it won't continue to do so.
Even a butthead can be dangerous when she's capable of unleashing swarms of flaming butterflies at opponents. Swallowtail Blaze tends to act in a fire support role, laying down waves of flaming bullets or burning lasers to let to pin her opponents and mess with Hive formations, freeing her teammates to advance or maneuver. But it would be a poor tactical decision to think that Blaze is weak by herself; she is certainly weak
er alone... but then who doesn't work better when part of a well oiled team? Blaze is capable of mowing down waves of opponents if needed and those that don't find cover when she opens fire will quickly learn just how enduring they really are!
But there are a lot of threats out there in the wider world and they're not all threats that Akiko is equipped (mentally as well as physically) to handle on her own. And while she knows the danger presented by a sinister army of mantis-men (the danger is clear and obvious), she's oblivious to the threats presented by some of the more subtle dangerous out in the world... and that, ultimately, is the danger thereof.
