Syria Threadheart is what many tales depict as a drider--a creature with the torso of a human and the lower body of a spider. An ancient and powerful race of monster, her people are best known for their predatory instinct and thick, sticky threads. It has often been said that if you were caught by a drider, you were never going to get away. The one saving grace they have is that, they are a very territorial people--if you did not journey into their lands, you were safe from their terror.

Which is where Syria differs from her people. As one of the fifth generation of driders, Syria is over a thousand years old; she has over 20,000 children, and an exponential amount more grandchildren. Her mother and thousands of sisters remain alive, and they live in the upper mountainous regions. Her clan, the Threadheart, is well known for its ability to produce incredibly thick webbing, however in the drider community they are not looked upon with respect. This is due to the actions of Syria's mother, Ruby.

There are many traditions held by Driders, and the chief among them being to never mate with a human. Despite the fact that they share many of the same traits, it was always held that the species should never share a bed, nor produce any spawn. The difference between predator and prey had to be held, and intimate acts such as sexual intercourse only served to blur that line. However, Ruby and the woman who would birth Syria had little choice on that cold night in the mountains; they were to freeze should they not work together.

As such, Syria never had a true home like her many sisters or her mother. Her whole family was shamed, but she took it on herself to abandon them in hopes of restoring some of her honor. It is through this single, solitary act she became one of the most feared monsters in the Elder Kingdom. A wandering drider, a monster that soon had a bounty on its head bigger than any other monster or criminal.

The woman did not mind too much, however; she was fine with the ample amounts of food seeking her out. Some powerful knights sought to be her undoing, but all wound up either food for the woman, or another incubator for her children, bound to the point of no escape deep within the harsh wildlands, left to be consumed by the spawn within them.

Syria, being an exile from her clan, does not follow many of the same laws that other driders follow. She is not above forced sexual relations with her prey, for one; in fact she relishes the chance to fornicate with her captives. She enjoys screwing them into submission before consuming them, something that many driders strictly forbid.

Despite all of this, however, she does still do some work for her people. She is an excellent hitman, and has been known for some gruesomely creative hits she has performed on her targets.
