Taka_Nara

In the distant region of Alola, certain Pokémon are viewed with a level of honor and respect that is truly unparalleled. They are revered as 'Guardians', and the residents of each island hold ceremonies and give offerings in their names-- effectively elevating them to the level of gods, all with the prayer that the Guardians will protect them and help them prosper in return for their services. Tapu Koko is one such Pokémon: the Guardian of Alola's Melemele Island.

You probably wouldn't think that if you met him, though.

Tapu Koko-- less widely known by his real name, Taka-Nara, since 'Tapu Koko' is the title humans gave him as their protector-- is surprisingly, disconcertingly selfish for one who is supposed to defend and aid the residents of the island he calls home. He rationalizes this attitude by saying that he never chose to be worshiped; it was merely the humans' reaction to him, and, well, he just didn't have the heart to argue with them. He can't exactly blame them, either, considering the extent of his power... but in the end, what matters is that being labeled a 'Guardian' was never his decision. So why should he constantly have to act like one?

Fortunately, while that's what he claims to think, it can't be said that Taka never acts the part. The humans would undoubtedly have ceased to worship him long ago if he didn't give them any reason to keep it up! Occasionally and impulsively, he deigns to show his face and help someone in their time of need, typically by eliminating the source of their distress with extreme and often violent prejudice. The more dire the situation, the more likely he is to lend a hand, since-- despite his selfishness-- he would hate to see anything genuinely awful to happen to his home or its residents. Without them, there would be no one left to fawn over him... and after growing accustomed to such treatment, its absence would be absolutely criminal.

The rewards for his infrequent, fickle appearances usually far outweigh the effort of carrying them out. The citizens of Melemele regularly have festivals in his honor, festivals that he takes great pleasure in watching from the shadows. If he's especially impressed by the humans' performances, Taka-Nara will dramatically descend from the heavens to astound and delight them. In doing so, perhaps, he proves that he is not always selfish and irresponsible; after all, when push comes to shove, he really does care about his island. But then again, Taka usually expects significant compensation for those times when he really goes out of his way to make Melemele safe and happy. And, well, no one can argue too much...

"You appreciate me, right? I'm sure you can figure out a nice way to show it."

♢ Please know that I don't do IC approaches, and I prefer to discuss any serious scenes before starting them. IC approaches kind of force my hand and drag me into a scene that I may not be interested in or in the proper mood for, and that irritates me, even if the scene is just comprised of casual one-liners.

♢ Do not expect Taka-Nara to show your character any real respect unless: 1. They happen to come from Melemele, in which case he will still be demanding but generally much kinder, or; 2. They show that they are powerful enough to impress him, either through demonstrating it or having an admirable reputation. If you want him to treat your character decently and neither of those things are applicable, they will have to try and earn his approval some other way. Otherwise, he's going to act as though they are 'beneath' him. (This doesn't mean he'll be cruel, though! Just really smug and entitled.)

♢ I absolutely love scenarios that involve Taka's ridiculous ego in one form or another. This is a very two-way street, though, meaning that I like seeing him lord over people and boss them around, but I often like seeing him humiliated and disgraced just as much.

♢ On the dominant end of the spectrum, I'm interested in characters who would be willing to take orders from Taka, effectively acting as attendants or worshipers (though whether or not they actually worship him is of little consequence). Feeding other people to him-- or even just feeding and doting on him in general-- is particularly loved, and he'll probably grow to like your character enough to spare them if they suck up to him a lot. Unless, of course, they want to be eaten, in which case he'll happily oblige them; willing offerings are among his favorite things to receive.

♢ And on the submissive side of things, it is worthy of note that despite being worshiped as a legitimate deity, Taka-Nara's powers are not infallible. Physically speaking, he is weaker than one might expect, and he has to resort to using his supernatural abilities to defend himself as a result. Said abilities can be lethal to many species, however, so he hesitates to use them on anyone he doesn't despise... something that can put him in a compromising position from time to time. Such a time would usually be the best opportunity for that person to eat him, embarrass him, call him out, kick his ass, or otherwise knock the smug bastard down a peg or two.

♢ On that note, while Taka is a switch when it comes to vore, I'm only comfortable letting him get eaten if I really like your character, and/or if I think the two of them would have a good dynamic together. You are welcome to ask for a scene with him as either predator or prey, but keep in mind that if you're asking for the latter, there's a good chance of rejection if I don't already know you.

Never/Dislike Taka-Nara likes being in control, but the tables can certainly be turned on him. Note that I'll usually only play him as prey for friends of mine, so please ask before eating him if we haven't played before.

Never/Dislike I admit that it's a bit hypocritical, but I'm attached to Taka and don't really want this to happen to him, even though he sometimes digests his own prey. I might allow it on occasion, especially if he's brought back afterwards.

Never/Dislike This goes with what was said above. If I let someone eat him, the only thing that I really want to see destroyed is his ego-- not his life. Sorry. ;v;

Never/Dislike Having Taka die is negotiable if this is allowed, though I'm still picky about it. I'm also not a big fan of reforming happening on-screen, so usually I reserve digestion for casual, public silliness. In a serious scene, it's less likely.

Never/Dislike Logically, then, endo is more my preference on this character, though as predator he can go either way. It depends how much his victims sucker up to him, and how much he likes them.

Never/Dislike And sacrifices don't technically have to be people! Taka is rather hedonistic, and just enjoys being fed in general.

Never/Dislike This is a good way to pay tribute, too, but the player is extremely shy about playing it out-- so generally, other methods of showing appreciation are preferred.

IC Approaches Always/Love

Never/Dislike I don't like being abruptly forced into starting a scene when someone PMs me, even if it's just a small, 'casual' thing. I'm okay with IC approaches in public, but I do reserve the right to opt out of them if I'm not interested.
