Story

There are rumors of a monster prowling the woods of the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, mysteriously making people disappear and leaving behind only their shoes. Most people don't actually believe in these stories, simply thinking it's just made up to keep people from wandering into the woods alone. But more and more of the people who doubt the legitimacy of these stories end up never returning after venturing off into the forest...
This monster is known by many different names according to the rumors. Some of the more common names are, "The Rocky Mountain Lurker," "Silent Hunter," and, for the few people who encountered it and lived to tell the tale, "Tanya."
According to the few survivor accounts of encounters, the monster is a lamia with silvery hair, green eyes, and an extremely long dark green tail with intricate emerald like patterns.
Two particular survivors have a shared story, and were both together when it happened. One of them has the scars to prove it, even.
It's 1941, and a group of twenty miners and their foreman were 500 feet underground in a copper mine, when a group of 3 miners had just accidentally discovered a cave. They entered the large cavern to explore, before they were attacked by something. The last thing anyone heard from them was their screams echoing through the tunnels of the mine... Everyone else came rushing to the source of the screams, only to see a lamia with a rather plump bulge in their tail. Everyone immediately turned tail and ran, except for the foreman who had a M1911 with him. Seven gunshots echoed followed by the scream of the foreman. The lamia pursued the 17 men running for the lift, promptly consuming those who fell behind. By the time they all reached the lift, there were only 3 of them left. The lift could support all three of them, but one of them gave their life to stall the monster long enough so the other two could escape. As the lift began ascending, the lamia threw a pickaxe at the two miners in a desperate attempt to slow them down. It struck one of them in the shoulder, instead of sticking in the wall and pinning the lift in place like the lamia had hoped. The lamia called out to them as the lift disappeared, saying, "Do not ever forget that man. I, Tanya, now swear an oath to never harm you two individuals ever again because of that one man's sacrifice. Farewell." The two miners were completely stunned after hearing her speak. They were glad to be alive at this point. Sure, one of them was injured, but they were alive. These were the two luckiest men alive, having avoided a slow and painful death in the stomach of a monster.
After the two miners shared their story, nobody traveled anywhere in the Rocky Mountains in small groups for 20 years. Not only did they prove the existence of the rumored monster, they also discovered it doesn't just attack individuals. And so began the hunt for the lamia that had been terrorizing the people living in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado for over 170 years. Many of them never returned, and people became more reluctant to join the hunting parties until they eventually stopped trying. Tanya laid low for a long time after that, due to how much she was overeating. It wasn't until 60 years later, in the 2020s, that she finally let herself be seen again. And so the rumor mill got to work yet again.

Info

Tanya is a more rare type of lamia that is more snake-like compared to others. They are generally much more capable predators compared to other types of lamia.
She is a warm blooded Lamia, meaning she uses the energy she gets from her prey to keep her body temperature up. But if she's really hungry, she may need to bask in the sunlight to stay warm. She has to eat a lot more than her cold blooded counterparts.
Her human stomach is much faster and less painful compared to her snake stomach, but she rarely ever uses it. She only uses it when the latter is full, but it takes a lot of prey to fill. Her human stomach also doesn't squeeze every last bit of nutrients out of a meal as effectiently as her snake stomach does.
Tanya does not have fangs, but her teeth are still dangerous. Very similar teeth to constrictors. She has a row of razor sharp teeth like hooks across the top and bottom of her mouth, all about half an inch long. But for a lamia, they are considered small. They are for holding prey in her mouth, not for tearing flesh or chewing. Her teeth are frequently speckled with blood or even covered, usually from biting prey as they go down. Don't be alarmed, she'll only bite if you try to escape while being swallowed.
Her stomach is capable of digesting the magic of the prey she eats, which frequently nullifies reformation magic. Sometimes, digesting magic has temporary adverse side effects...
She can't eat human food. It makes her throw up, and cleaning up the aftermath can be very dangerous. I'm sure you can guess why.

Personality

Tanya may seem like the average man-eating monster at first, but there's a lot more than meets the eye.
She has a soft side that her prey almost never sees, but ironically most of the people who have earned her trust were eaten and reformed. She is a little silly but in a cute way, easily embarrassed, and really kind once you get to know her.
It's rare for her to trust humans, because she's had a grudge against them for most of her life. She talks down to almost all humans, and treats them like they are nothing but food. Except on rare occasions.
Tanya certainly has an interesting taste in music. She likes listening to military marching music.

Tanya has finally found a mate! She is a mother now, too!

Scene Ideas

This character can be used in a modern fantasy, modern, or fantasy setting. The year can be anything within Tanya's lifetime.
Idea #1: The most common disappearances are usually hikers wandering a bit too far off of the trail and getting lost. And then the 'monster in the woods' gets them.
Idea #2: You are attempting to hunt down the rumored "Silent Hunter" and prove whether or not she actually exists, and kill her if she does. But you, the hunter, soon becomes the hunted...

Canon scenes

Cecilia_Snek tried to trick Tanya so she could get a big meal and Tanya's hunting grounds. But, Tanya found out before long and swallowed Cecilia, which made Tanya extra full. Once Tanya finishes digesting her on July 28th, her tail will grow longer and her stomach will grow bigger so she can eat more. Tanya really hopes to make up with her at some point, as she feels a little bad for eating another of her own kind...
Tanya eventually made up with Cecilia and now they are friends! Yay!
