You might have, at that. A prolific street performer, a daring thief, and an accomplished magician, this fox has a few cards up her sleeve to pull out when she wants to be noticed. Which, given her immediately apparent nature on first blush, is quite often. A charismatic and ostentatious vixen, Tashia is most comfortable at the center of a crowd... or at least capturing one’s unreserved attention.
Daring feats of acrobatics punctuate her various vocations, lending flair and spice to her street festival routines while propelling her lithe and nimble body through ancient tombs and dungeons. This is not to mention just how captivating her form can be; cascades of motion always about her, arresting the senses and concealing her more subtle intentions. You’d best be warned to watch her hands, not her hips.
Naturally, one might be excused for missing either in the face of her pyrotechnic displays. Flames and fire in all colors of the rainbow, all shapes of the imagination are her signature, and they draw a crowd like nothing else. Juggling fireballs, infernal pillars, curtains, rings, and lakes of flame are just some of her favorite tricks, but the audience might just notice something uncanny about them all. Her control of the stuff is so impeccable that her surroundings never catch fire, even though by all rights some of her performances should immolate a city block. In fact, sometimes it isn’t even hot.
To explain the fox’s unusual magic requires telling the tale of a few events, which we will leave for later; suffice it to say, her path in the arcane arts has been a rather unconventional one. Traditionally, a mage might learn to manipulate magical energy through generating a flame or light or wind, a sort of prototypical spell as a lesson in the fundamentals. Tashia, on the other hand... she was rather pleased with herself for casting her first fire spell. So much so that she pushed the small fireball cantrip much further than it was ever meant to be pushed.
As a matter of fact, every manifestation of her magic springs from that piddling parlor trick, the fox having taken the idea of fundamentals to a rather ridiculous extreme. Temperature manipulation could produce more than simply a fireball of greater scope; by the same concept, heat energy could be moved out of matter to produce a chilling effect, or in such a way as to generate gusts and gales. There’s no limit to the applications this vixen has found for one simple piece of tutorial magic, and the visual symphonies she creates are a testament to her creativity and impatience.
Of course, nothing could ever be that easy without the pitfalls of lived experience. Another twist, another tale, best left for another day, sees the source of this vulpine magician’s talents; or some small explanation toward such. She is herself quite capable, creative, and cunning, and surely a fine manipulator of mana by her own graft, but... that amulet around her neck seems to hold a certain significance to her, almost suspiciously so. And that isn’t even getting into... well, another tale yet. And these are the ones she’s much less likely to tell you of than her daring exploits or her more innate charms.
There might be a few who know the whole story, or at least what’s happened to her since. And what they would say, if they could, may well strike terror into the listener’s heart. There is a darker side to Tashia’s vainglorious nature, and some who come across the fox are never heard from again; some become much more reserved, hesitant to speak on their experience. And she hardly sees the need to volunteer information like that.
