Temulun_Dotharl

She is the Defender of Eorzea. The Eikonslayer. The Bearer of the torch. Slayer of Nidhogg. The Surrender of Souls. The End of Ascalon. The Last Resort.

She is the Warrior of Light.

And she is nothing like what most expect her to be. A Xeala Au Ra born in on the Azim Steppe, when the chieftan of the Dotharl tribe looked into the infant's eyes and did not recognize a fallen warrior, it was taken as a portent that the tribe's numbers would swell again. These words were told to her when she was young and they have stayed with her all of her life. She grew up as most Dotharl do; warlike, violent and short of temper. Particularly sharp of mind, she dabbled in the arcane arts alongside her friend Sadu, but always felt that there were practical applications that Black Magic simply... lacked. When she came of age, she sought for, and received, permission from Sadu, now chieftain of the tribe, to undertake a journey to learn the healing arts. It was, she reasoned, the most expediant way to strengthen the tribe's numbers, by preventing death in battle... the most common demise of a Dotharl by far. Half a year later, she arrived in Limsa Lominsa via boat with nothing but axe in hand and the clothing on her back. She applied to the Arcanists Guild, got involved with the Scions of the Seventh Dawn, and has since saved the land of Eorzea from invasion, devestation, enslavement, or outright destruction many times... along the way, unlocking the secrets of White Magic and becoming the first non-Padjaali White Mage in history.

People expect the Warrior of Light, the world's foremost healer, to be a beacon of pleasantness, demure and soft and gentle. They do not expect the cold-hearted pragmatist that is largely unconcerned with the 'goodness' of the world... rather, she finds the City-States to be preferable to Garlean rule and is wise enough to understand what an unchecked Garlemald will do to the Steppe in the future. Further, no sane individual wishes to see the world ripped asunder by Primals, consumed by the darkness of the Voidsent, or burned to cinders by Nidhogg's brood. She has opposed all of these, and more, not out of the goodness of her heart, but rather because it was the most effective and efficient way to achieve her goals.

Living among those not of the Steppe have 'softened' Temulun considerably, but she is still short of temper and prepared to offer battle at moment's notice for slights real and perceived. While she is primarily a White Mage, she is a student of many disciplines of war and magic alike. She has adopted many of the customs from the many places she has travelled, such as adopting the name of her tribe in imitation of a 'surname' as is typical in the western nations, and styles of dress. This is perhaps fitting, as it has been remarked that her skin tone and hair color are far deviations from the Dotharl norm of midnight blue and white, suggesting one of her parents was not of the tribe. And while Temulun opposes evil wherever it rises (if only because it is preferable to allowing it to run unchecked), she is a pragmatic woman with personal goals, a lot of power, and fewer moral limitations then most would expect a being called the 'Warrior of Light' to possess.

A being as remarkable as she is dangerous... and often the world's only hope, for better or worse.
