Living in a world where people like her are seen on as monster and lower kinds of life. Always treated poorly by regular humans and even used as their slaves or thrown into prison where they get either abused and forced to work, making products that humans will eventually buy from them (think Chinese factory workers), this is the only way for these demi-humans to actually get any food from the ones keeping them captive. If they perform poorly or don't meet their daily quota they are either starved through the day or beaten several times. They are not considered a worthy being at all.
Tenshi is one of the few who managed to live her life normally, at least for a while. Born at a long abandoned shrine in one of the older villages she was kept safe from the authorities who wanted new workers for their factories. Of course the village did get searched a few times during the years and when Tenshi was only 11 she was discovered, her parents shot and killed right in front of her while the young girl herself was forced into working with the rest of the demi-human children found during the several raids they performed in many villages and even cities. She wasn't really the best worker either, there would be times she didn't get food for several days and she was beaten around by the guards and even some of her fellow demi-humans a couple of times due to her weak stature. She did try to escape a couple of times and of course considering the armed guards around the factories this was never an easy task. One time she had almost succeeded but was caught by a police officer when trying to escape into an alley...The punishment? Something that shouldn't even be mentioned, it took time for her to heal those wounds and she still had to work...With a broken leg and a broken wrist. At least the doctors were kind enough to give her medication.
When she turned 19 she had had enough of being a captive for these humans, together with a few of her now close demi-humans friends they planned and performed an escape...Out of the seven people that tried to escape only two of them actually managed to get out of the factory and not get detected further. The rest were captured and killed on the spot because of the harsher retribution and rules made by the owners of said factories where they worked. Her first act was to return to the village she was both born and captured, the village had actually become more active through the years and was mostly filled with people who enjoyed the company of a demi-human, the shrine where she used to live had however remained untouched over the years. It was a rather emotional visit for the young girl, she found the skeleton remains of her parents still on the floor where they had been shot and the time had come to give them a proper burial. She also found a set of clothes previously belonging to her mother, since they now fit her she decided to wear them, they are considered a memento of her parents for her now, along with the shrine itself. She also has a kind of a memento from when she was a captive, her body is covered in bruises that seems to never want to heal. She isn't really an outgoing girl either, most of the time hiding in the shrine and trying to keep herself as concealed as possible from the human world on the outside. Of course she does visit the village once in a while for food and to say hello to the people there who are so nice to keep her protected.
However all she wants is a true friend...A real friend she can spend a lot of time with, share secrets and of course even invite into living together with her in the shrine...This friend could be human or demi-human, she doesn't hate humans since she knows not all of them are like the strict authorities, abusive of their demi-human brothers and sisters.
