Race Description:

Naiads are not in any way native to Felarya. Although their exact origin is unknown, some knowledge is known about them through examining Tereya and listening to her descriptions.

Naiads are water based beings, made up of water and able to melt into any source of water as well as forming their own. It was not altogether too uncommon for a traveller to fall asleep beside a pond and to find a girl sitting close to them the next day, the pond completely dry.

Naiads are also able to shift between their 'human' forms and that of a half bodied giantess by temporarily drawing upon the water in the environment around them. This form is often described as a blue giantess who seems to grow out of the ground from the waist up. Anything like a branch or limb that is in the way will simply pass through their bodies.

Because their lives are so dependant on water, Naiads rarely ever leave a place unless either their fear kicks in or unless there is a guarantee that water can be found along the way.

Naiads are monophobic; they have an almost paralyzing fear of being alone for any length of time. Because of this little quirk, Naiads are known for kidnapping people and holding them against their will just so that they will have someone within touching distance of them. This fear is believed to be caused by the fact that Naiads will more often than not share a pond or source of water with other Naiads, bringing a close proximity awareness that would make personal space type people blanche.

Naiads are not predators per say. Every Naiad does contain a digestive enzyme within them that allows them to process insects or fish that happen across their water. When a Naiad grows in size, the enzyme becomes more concentrated, focusing inside of them so that they can in fact digest a person if they so choose. However, monophobia often keeps passerby from ending up as a meal.

Like their Dryad counterparts, Naiads are able to connect to other Naiads by a mental network, although the limitations have yet to be explained.

History:

Tereya does not speak to anyone about her home, except for when people ask about Naiads. For this reason, no one is able to guess her true age, or where exactly she came from, or even what her childhood was like. She stays close to her pond whenever possible, venturing out only when she feels a need to find someone to become her friend and talk to her.

Character:

Tereya, unlike most Naiads, is incredibly shy. While most Naiads will reveal themselves to anyone upon approach, Tereya prefers to hide herself until the last possible moment, and has on more than one occasion almost been drank, at which point she'll reveal herself.

Once in a more human form, Tereya's shyness continues on, her voice never rising above what some would consider a whisper. She fidgets constantly, and usually addresses others with her head facing the ground and a blush on her cheeks.

However, Tereya has a sense of justice imbued within her. If Tereya is ever witness to a being consuming another, she will more often than not change into her giantess form with the water around her and devour the predator! However, it is only to teach a lesson, and after a small bit of struggling the victim will slip out of her body (it is just water after all) and will retreat, not wanting to repeat the experience anytime soon.

Tereya also does not like to be touched, and is easily frightened, unless you have become her friend. If a Naga or anything else large sees her in human form and grabs her up, ready to consume her, she will immediately liquify, turning into a puddle on the ground and giving the predator quite a scare!

Tereya is also quick to point out that, although the names are similar, Naiads and Dryads are different both in form and eating habits, the latter of which most people do not stick around to hear once they hear something that rhymes with the giant plant women.

Abilities:

Like all Naiads, Tereya is able to grow in size. Because the Chikodai Forest provides so much water, she could, theoretically, grow large enough to swallow even Crisis. However, Tereya is still young, and so once her form reaches the same height as a large naga, she will begin to lose her consistency, her body taking on the curves of an otherwise nude woman while becoming translucent with a bluish coloration. Still, though, how would you react if a human girl suddenly turned into a giant blue woman?

If anyone were allowed to drink from Tereya's water form, they would eventually discover that they had a telepathic link to the Naiad (hence why Tereya doesn't let just anyone drink from her liquid form). This link is temporary, though, lasting a week at the most.

Tereya is also partially immune to most injuries and attacks. Any hard weapons or attacks simply pass through her, or else cause her to temporarily liquify. Slug girls have found that spitting slime at her also has no effect, instead being absorbed and processed by the Naiad's digestive enzymes. The only exception to her immunity is the actual digestive track of another being. If Tereya was ever swallowed whole, her body would be processed just as if you had taken a drink from a glass of water.
