What joy is there to be found in the world when you're the woman that owns everything worth owning? To a collector such as herself everything lovely in this world already belongs to her and with the royal authority she wields, nobody could dare challenge her claim. The Hero-King Gilgamesh, the oldest hero in human history and the ruler of the ancient Sumarian city-state named Uruk. A demigod that is blessed with two-thirds divine blood in her veins, Gilgamesh is a horrible despot that ruled selfishly during her reign.

In her opinion everyone lived for her sake as she had no equal among the human rabble. They were nothing but sheep that needed a shepard to watch over them and what better person was more qualified than the King? Gilgamesh's purpose was to guide humans in this twilight period between the Age of Gods and the Age of Man but this purpose was laughed at and instead King Gilgamesh ruled at her leisure. Her subjects loved her despite her egotistical rule and the Gods decided to punish her.

This punishment woud ultimately lead to Gilgamesh making her one and only friend, awakening to the humanity in her heart. It was but a small spark but it did help this selfish King grow into the ruler she was meant to be, at least it was supposed to be that way. Tales of Gilgamesh's exploits spread across the land to the point that she had suitors both mortal and divine seeking her hand. One such lover felt great shame at Gilgamesh's denial to the point where the one person that the Hero-King called friend was cursed and destroyed by the Gods as well as having her immortality stripped from her.

The death of this special person was a turning point, one that would take Gilgamesh on a decades long journey in search of an herb that would ensure immortality. This journey did take the king through the land of the dead but it all ended for naught as the herb that Gilgamesh received was devoured by a snake. She never did learn to like snakes after that incident, not that the herb granted the reptitle immortality but the ability to shed its old skin off. It was the last grand quest that Gilgamesh took before dying.

The Holy Grail, an artifact of legend and the same object that King Arthur of Camelot searched for during his lifetime. That very same artifact is responsible for granting the Hero-King a second life. A Great Magic that could only be enacted by such a storied mystery as the Holy Grail, allowing her to see the descendants of the children she watched over during her first life. Gilgamesh found herself wanting to the point of deeming these beings less than human. Mongrels. With the grace of the Grail, Gilgamesh seeks to find some purpose to this new life she has been given.

Never/Dislike Gilgamesh has a very unhealthy obsession with the King of Knights, whether male or female. How that love is manifested is determined on how players want to approach it.
Kotomine Always/Love

Never/Dislike Kotomine Kirei, the priest presiding over the church on the hill. Also known as Gilgamesh's master from the Fourth War, a love-hate relationship that is an example that perhaps the King isn't a complete bitch.
