Strange things happen....
When a scientist is rich enough to continue his work at home after his company decided to stop the project for ethnical reasons. Prof.Dr. Grobel is, or was one of those scientists.
To his credit we should mention here that he didn't really had to do much more than use the machine they had developed. It was made for those purposes, but when they finally had managed to finishe the DNS-reconstructer they were not able to use it, the responsible politicians were just afraid to take the last step in a project, the creation of a living new species.
XXXX: Wait... she's partially a vampire do you want to tell me that you got Dracula's DNS? //laughter// You can't be serious.
YYYY: I don't do jokes, if we're talking about my daughter.
XXXX: Sorry, but it just sounds unbelievable, how's that possible?
YYYY: It was part of the project to create new funcional DNS structures, one of the assistants had a great fable for vampires and so he tried to create a working vampire DNS with a metabolism working with blood. It was brilliant work, all simulations showed that it worked. Grobel therefore decided to use the code along with his brilliant work for a catgirl, first it seemed they were impossible to combine.//Silence//

YYYY: Sorry I got carried away thinking of the months my husband tried to combine them, he was in a terrible mood until he finally suceeded by adding some parts of a male DNS that could combine the two experimental structure.
XXXX: Ahh, I understand, that's why she's a hermaphrodite.
YYYY: Exactly. Well after he managed to get done with it he used one of my ovocytes to create the being. I even agreed to carry her, after all she was some kind of child to both of us. I proudly can say that there occured no problems during the pregnancy except for the usual sickness and strange appetite every woman's got, although those months were pretty lonely for me as I had to hide my swelling belly, my pregnancy.
XXXX: Why did you hide your pregnancy? You could've just told it's your child.
YYYY: //laughter// You didn't get it, yet? How to explain the doctor why our child's got both sexes, how to explain the tail, the catears? ... No we had to do this on our own. I gave birth to her only in company of a close friend of the family who used to work in a hospital and my husband of course who wasn't much of a help though more intrested in the result of his experiment than in me or the child itself. We raised her as any other child.
XXXX: I understand, but I think it wasn't easy, right?
YYYY: Of course it wasn't easy, we did teach her at home in the first years before we did sent her to a really expensive college, after making sure that she accepted that she would never be allowed to show her ears or her tail and of course those teeth she grew as a teenager.
XXXX: Wait wait wait, what about friends, did she grow up that lonely, not meeting anyone before college?
YYYY: Of course not, but you know children did just accept her as who she was when playing with her although they had to hide it from their parents, we couldn't allow her to go to the swimming pools and she always had to sleep at home, although we sometimes had friends of Tsubame in our house for a sleepover but it didn't happen too often, some of them didn't even want to come again, after my daughter scared them away.
XXXX: Well now we know why they never showed up again...
YYYY: That's a LIE my daughter's always been a good girl, she wouldn't hurt anyone, as I told you before I allowed you to record this I won't start discussing about this point. She's got a nice friend who pays her for helping him with his stock business, you know, she's pretty good in things like that.
XXXX: Of course, everyone accusing Mr. Leonardo being a mafioso is wrong and your harmlessdaughter being his number one killer, silent deadly and never leaving a hint on the corpse.

What her mother does not know of course is, that the rumors are true, Tsubame decided to make good use of her voracious hunger, her lust and desires and even getting money for it. She doesn't really have problems with the moral aspect of being a very well paid killer.... after all it were humans who created an outcast overpowered monster. Although she might call herself one, this doesn't mean that everybody is allowed to call her anything like that while she's around, her ears are pretty good as her other senses not being a match for a humans'.
From the money she got from her first missions she bought an penthouse apartment. Pretty large for a single person but she likes to invite friends as well as she's still used to wide open rooms from the mansion she grew up.

Clothing:
She doesn't usually wear the clothes from the pictures of course. She preferes black t-shirts with loose trousers she will usually wear when you're meeting her somewhere out of her apartment. *Gasp* she doesn't wear a bra.
When she's doing a job she preferes a tight bodysuit so she's more flexible climbing walls and stuff.
