As any child can tell you, monsters lurk underneath their beds, ready to leap out an devour them as soon as the lights are turned off. This is, of course, preposterous because humans are 'ripe' between the ages of 16 and 26. They do, of course, enjoy popping out and scaring children because it's hilarious, but the truth of the matter is that while the fear of children is fun and can be used as a source of sustenance in an emergency, it simply isn't enough.

Monsters, simply put, feed off of terror and sexual arousal. And it is easy for the two to go hand in hand.

It is when the cloak of night covers the land, when shadows are cast by humanity's artificial lights and they think themselves safely locked away in their houses do the barriers between worlds become the thinnest. This is what allows the monsters to creep into the dark, shadowed places of the world and lie in wait for potential victims. They seem to have a preference for maidens, or are at least drawn to them more readily, but are overall far from picky. They prefer to strike from the shadows and love to wait until their potential victims are already asleep and helpless. And then they drag them from their nice warm beds, molest their nubile young bodies, and feast upon their flesh.

While underneath the bed is a common hiding spot, it is not uncommon to find such a monster alternatively in a closet, underneath the stairs, or behind the curtains. They are a crafty lot and take particular joy in laying in ambush.
