Valmanway Latrios Bashkar is the living dead man, a lich who is not undead. It's a fine arguement as to what to call him, really- he's technically human to some extent, as he was before, but he's something beyond that point now. His life is bound by his own style of a phylactery, though unlike a conventional lich, Valmanway is not a corpse of any kind. Instead, he seems to be your average human to naked eyes, albeit with grey hair and a set of green irises. How that came to pass is something he refuses to discuss, though it's often rumored he uses bleach. He is often mistaken for a mage of sorts because of how he dresses and the book he carries, and to some extent, he is. However, much more of his talents lie in passive magic, like rune inscription and enchanting, rather than direct spells.

When he was still a mortal, he was at one point a very notable magician, sorcerer, whatever you would like to call the archetype of magic-user. He spent much of his time researching the afterlife... and of course, the undead. He had overcome the loss of the mind with the use of a phylactery, but it took him well into his latest years to perfect his own special phylactery by using a certain gem within it. Then, to insure his own life, he created multiple phylacteries as backups that were stored in secluded places, should the one he carried be destroyed.

However, like all good things immortal, over time, he slowly descended into an acute madness. And like a newt, in time, he got better. He still retains a little of his good old insanity, but a very large portion of his memories are repressed. It is unsure if the very reason he believes he is a lich is actually contrived to hide what really happened from himself. What would man's mind obscure to hide the truth it couldn't handle? The answers lie in the book he carries, a book full of runes and foreign text.

He is, as said, a runologist. His book and his mind are etched with deadly weapons and tools to use against his opponents... he has demonstrated their potential more than a few times.
