Hailing from a world that possesses moderate magic at best, Verae is one of many elves researching medicine and low magic solutions to health. As a result of her world's mana thinness, large scale magic can create distortions in the fabric of space-time and it is through this rift that she was transported to an Earth very similar to our own. Coming from a low tech environment, given that magic could make a lot of inane tasks easier to complete, it was quite a culture shock. At the time, she had been but a mere fifty years old. Learning a new world, a new culture, and finding her niche was not difficult. Even for an elf, she possesses a high intelligence, though the almost lack of mana in the air means that she cannot use magic as often as she'd like.

Instead, she learned the core Earth curriculum, when the government was not studying her existence to deem her as friend or foe. Eventually, as they aged, she did not, and through the thirty years of schooling she had made no attempts to free herself. Instead, she focused on absorbing the knowledge of medicine. Despite the lack of magic, humans had developed startling levels of technology to compensate. Graduating with her medicine doctorate in internal surgery, it was not difficult to find a job. With her natural dexterity, performing operations was easy, especially due to her elven serenity. Years continued to pass.

Now aged 150, standing at 5'9", Verae has a number of medical degrees, and even a degree in biomedical engineering and biochemistry. Considered a giant in the medical field, she still operates at her home hospital, despite the changes in administration. On the side, she runs her own, little clinic where she aids the poor.

Outside the practice, she enjoys swimming, gardening and exercise. While still practicing magic, she has almost stopped relying on it. Viewing it as a crutch, she has come to appreciate humanity's tenacity for tackling problems, even if there is no visible solution. This approach has made her exceedingly compassionate towards them, a kindness that probably originates from deep within her heart.
