Why? Because everybody's got an opinion and the fact remains that nobody can agree on what's right and wrong. Of course, there's always going to be losers when justice gets served, whether the people doing the punishing or morally in the right or just plain corrupt.

She was originally a well-established soldier for a federation Special Ops team, but had retired after having developed a newfound interest in close-quarters combat.
She established a career in the fighting circuit with title matches against top-contenders. After accidentally delivering a killing strike against one of her opponents (whom the mob had placed a significant amount of money on), she found herself later waking up from being tranquilized and onboard a vessel headed for the 36 chambers penitentiary despite not having an existing criminal record.
She's well-known for being the only person to have ever broken out after spending only 48 hours within the facility before escape. That in itself was a feat, especially seeing as nobody had ever escaped from that particular fortress of a prison before.
She's spent the rest of her years on the run from law enforcement and staying off the radar by competing in underground fights around the world and even taking on the occasional assassination job for the right price as her special ops training had not been forgotten.
Over time, she had generated a certain underground reputation of being a 'bank breaker', meaning if she would upset the balance of those betting to always swing in her favor. Because of this, she never let anybody know she was entering until the matches had begun, often hiding under an alias and waiting until after people had placed their bets and started watching the match in order to keep the balance of profit from shifting so as to prevent a repeat occurrence of what had happened to land her in prison the first time.
She would never stay at any one venue for more than one night and would always proceed to the next which was furthest off from the last she'd visit.
Due to the nature of the underground fights she frequents, her attitude and personality changed over the years due to the constant adrenaline rushes and consumption of an illegally-distributed substance the combatants take before the fights. As such, her behavior is much less calm, restrained and dedicated as it used to be and her range of morality had drifted far over the 'point of no return', especially since her specific reputation had her sexual advances declined by people who were afraid of her. She eventually snapped and simply started 'taking' people who refused her advances or didn't bother giving advances at all. While she still didn't otherwise physically harm or predate on those she had forced herself upon, she still had no sense of respect or care for them, eventually just seeing them and her opponents as tools to use for her continued enjoyment.
