Violet's Background

Violet Harmon is, in some ways, a rather normal teenager who resents her parents, makes friends with the wrong crowd, and struggles to fit in, all though she often is perfectly fine with being different. Her discontent with her parents is rather strong at times, for she thinks that her father is a cheater and a liar, and that her mother is weak. Violet wasn't too pleased with being uprooted from her home in Boston or moving to Los Angeles. However, the moment she discovered the string of past murders that occurred in the house her family had purchased, she immediately became interested and content with it. However, when outside of her home, or while spending time with a ghostly love interest, she was still very much a reclusive.

Violet is attractive, clever, sarcastic and somewhat moody at times. She was described by her mother as "fearless", and she seems to be very brave. When faced with a frightening situation, she remains composed and her sarcasm never falters. Violet is a bit of a loner and doesn't seem to fit in with her peers, especially at school. She seems to have little to no respect for her father due to his affair. In addition to this, she is occasionally rude to her mother, but expresses her concerns with her and is noticeably more comfortable with the woman. Despite her bold demeanor, she is socially withdrawn and deeply depressed. She regularly self-harms by cutting herself with her father's razor in the upstairs bathroom. She's not exactly a social butterfly and she doesn't care what other people think. However, like anyone else would, she does have limits.

RP Notes

In role plays, Violet can either be played as an average human or a ghost. As a human, Violet often spends time away from home. She almost always has a few cigarettes with her and can easily be picked out among others due to her eclectic taste in fashion. Events in which Violet is a ghost would take place after she overdoses. In ghost form, she is almost exactly the same as she is in human form with the exception that she is unable to leave her property. Setting wise, in human form, Violet spends a good amount of time out of the house in places like her school grounds, an abandoned pool turned skateboard park, a coffee shop, or a picnic area at a beach. In ghost form, as stated above, she is restricted from leaving and can only be found in the murder house.


The Murder House

The Murder House is a classic Los Angeles Victorian, built in 1922 by prominent surgeon Charles Montgomery for his wife Nora. The house features several original Tiffany glass lamps and stained glass windows. The stained glass windows feature the color blue, a tribute Charles made to the color of Nora's eyes. There are multiple bathrooms, bedrooms, studies, a kitchen, a living room, and more that have since been restored to their original decor. In addition, there are also several spirits roaming the falls of the place.

Back in the 20s, Charles was a renowned surgeon who performed illegal abortions on women seeking fame in order to make money. However, when one of these women told her boyfriend what had happened, he kidnapped Thaddeus, the Montgomerys' baby son as a way of revenge. Police arrived shortly after with a box of jars containing the parts of the dismembered baby. Nora later found her husband had tried to cheat death by putting the baby together and giving it a heart from another aborted baby. However, when it was revived through this, reality of the house was forever altered, and in the same way that the "baby" quickly became a bloodthirsty monster, this alteration led to spirits being forever trapped here if they died on the property. As a result, a multitude of spirits of various past owners and visitors alike can be found here.
