After decades of overpopulation, hyperconsumption, and the West's fall from grace in the eyes of the globe, the all the groups and nations of the world convened to develop a solution for the ills of the old world. Various ideas and plans were proposed, each one riddled with critical flaws. No single potential plan of action could even ease the symptoms that plagued the world, each cure worse than the disease it was meant to counteract. All hope seemed lost, and for a months the world was paralyzed by indecision. Until someone proposed something new, something so completely radical and insane, it was almost impossible to believe it was even entertained by any delegate present.
Take the saying 'We'll live of the fat of the land' to it's most literal extreme.
The idea cause more than a handful of people to scratch their heads in confusion. Reactions at first were ones of absolute horror, but as the collective rulers of the world thought about it, opinion changed. This was the plan they had been looking for! Within the day, the UN passed the International Consumption law. While some parts of the world were still reeling with horror from the choice, the rest of the world made it clear with resounding voices and clanking silverware. Centuries of resentment boiled over, and soon, there was a new white meat.
