A warrior who taps into the powers of the divine, using White Magicks to cast spells of recovery and protection.
White Mage is a special Job class in the Final Fantasy series, and is featured in several installments. It is among the first Job classes introduced in the series. Their equipment includes staves and maces but in later installments they used magical rods instead. Their armor, like most mages, is limited to lightweight vests and mage robes. Their physical stats are usually higher than those of a Black Mage (because they cannot defend themselves), but are not as high as some other classes. Their magic stats, of course, are high.
The most prominent ability of a White Mage is to cast White Magic, which usually includes healing and support magic, but may also include status spells. In later installments, they were given the ability "Pray," in which the party's HP would be restored for no cost. The HP restored would be minimal. Their ability to heal, protect, and resurrect fallen members of the party make them typically invaluable, as they are usually the only efficient way of healing.
White Mages tend to dress in white robes with red triangular lining. They tend to lean towards lighter armor, generally robes, and their robes are trimmed with red triangles that usually flare out from cuffs, around hems, or on the lining of the players hood if they wear one. Most White Mages are female, but some males have been White Mages as well. Male White Mages generally do not wear hoods; however, female ones do.
Ashe Fensong was not always destined to become a white mage, first seeking to become a member of the Void Community, also known as the guild of thieves in her homeland, even going so far as to learning her way around a dagger and sword, not to mention a few thieving abilities...It would be a chance attack from a dangerous foe that would both change her life, dramatically.

"Lili! Stop running so far ahead, Mom said that there have been more monster attacks lately!"
"Dont be a chicken Ashe, We can handle any stupid wolf that comes our way!"
12- year old Ashe frowned as her Feol Viera friend, Lili, continued to dart into the forest, grabbing berries from each one, they needing it for a minor clan mission given to her, more or less, to keep the pair of troublemakers off the streets...At least, thats what the clan hoped to have done. Ashe took a moment to sigh and draw out her dagger, before continuing forward. It was true, the Fanewood was far from dangerous, most of the monsters being docile tonberries, lizards, and the occasional wolf, but her mothers words were beginning to get to her.
"Be very careful today, There has been a few attacks as of late...and I have a bad feeling..."
"...W-Woah, Ashe come look at this!"
Ashe heard her friend exclaim this from a fair amount of distance away, she shifting through the forest to see exactly what her friend had found, and she blinked and froze at the sight of the drooping flower....it was nearly three times their size and lolled onto it side, almost as if it were sitting....
...A gigantic red flag shot through her mind...where has she seen a flower like this before.
"...its so big....not much to look at, but boy does it smell good....oh, sorry Ashe, you might not be able to smell it" Lili said with a small giggle, sticking her tongue out at Ashe....The Viera always made fun of the fact Ashe was a simple Hume, and couldnt smell or hear as good as she could.
"...Lili...I...think we should get away from that thing..." Ashe said softly, taking a few careful steps to grab her friends arm and try to tug her away, noticing that Lili had not even took her bow out.
"Cmon Ashe, its just a stupid flower" Lili said, aiming a kick at it suddenly.
"NO!" Ashe cried out, but it was too late, as suddenly a horrible screech was heard and the plant leapt up causing lili to fall back and look up at it, wide eyed. Ashe tried to pick her back up and run away, but the second they got back up, the huge plant monster leapt up and blocked their path...and it did not look happy at all, numerous huge vines extending from its body.
Lili was frozen in place, and Ashe tried to yank her, but then she saw the yellow pollen in the air...it obviously was not enough to affect her, but Lili's senses were too powerful to not be paralyzed by it. Ashe thought quickly and lifted lili and leapt away, just as the huge flower-beast tried to entangle both of them, letting out another one of those horrible cries. As soon as she thought lili had been safe, she turned around, only to have the flower right next to them.
~How is something this big so fast!~ Ashe thought as she tried to swing her dagger at it, only for it to be batted away from her hand ~...and smart....~ She suddenly tried to leap away, but she then realized that was a mistake as she had easily done so...and left Lili for the beast to attack, the source of its aggression, it wrapping around her with numerous of its tentacles, a sharp scream erupting from her mouth as it was obviously trying to crush her.
Ashe quickly grabbed her dagger again and leapt at the huge beast's back, stabbing it numerous times, the beast screeching and dropping Lili, only to begin flailing around, till ashe was thrown wildly toward the ground, it knocking the wind out of her and leaving her in a daze as the huge flower turned around and began to leap toward her again, only for a fireball to shoot from the trees and hit the flower, followed by a huge axe thrown from the same tree, landing in the ground and spooking the flower....
"Oh no ya dont!"
A pair came leaping from that tree, a banda and hume, both of them obviously hunters after that very beast....and with that, the flower turned around and ran, just as fast as it had attacked.
"I told you that Lord Ochu was in this forest, After him!" The banda said angrily to the hume, immediately running in the direction of it, axe grabbed on the way.
"What about them?" The hume, a mage judging by his staff said motioning back to Ashe, who was going to ask for help, but could barely breathe
"Dont be a hero, Gan, your a hunter! The bounty on him is far too much for us to lose the trail now, not when he's so close!" The Banda said angrily. "Leave the guttersnipes, we'll come back for em once Ochu is dead!" And with that, the banda disappeared into the forest again, the hume hesitating for only a moment, before he chased after his compatriot.
Ashe finally was able to bring herself back up, Lili still on the ground, motionless. Ashe quickly ran toward her and propped her friend up, the Viera unconscious and bleeding from her broken ribs.
"L...Lili...please...w..wake up...cmon, your ok...right?" Ashe was trying to wake her friend, tears falling down her face as she knew she had no way to help her friend...no potions, and she never bothered to learn any healing spells, knowing that she would have not needed them....the forest was safe.... ~...please...please be ok....~ Ashe thought as she continued to hold her friend, finally beginning to cry loudly as she hugged her friend to her chest...
...and thats when the miraculious happened...
Ashe felt her body suddenly surge with energy...she could not explain it, but suddenly a bright light began to envelop them both, brighter then anything Ashe had ever seen before, her eyes wide as the light bathed them both, and Ashe felt the few cuts and scrapes she had disappear off her ankles...her eyes wide as Lili's broken ribs set themselves and she coughed loudly, her eyes opening as she said a faint "..a..ashe? W...what happened?"
Ashe could not help but smile, then promptly pass out...the rush of energy immediately disappearing and tiring her to unconsciousness....
~Seven years later~
That day never really left the 19 year old, she staring out from the window of her room at the clan house, the day she saved her friends life, and the day she learned she had a great gift, the art she performed explained to her as the White Witch skill 'Martyr', though she had not been able to perform the full ability since that day, it was a very good thing in her opnion, as she had been able to do small healing ever since then, either as 'prayer' or the more powerful 'Benediction'. Lili, herself, had gone onto join the Red mage's guild, showing too much aptitude in all of the arts not to. Ashe, however, was immediately drafted by the White mage in town and taught, to her dismay, the arts of healing and white magic, though her mother continued to teach her how to wield daggers and steal, though she was told she was not allowed to use her thief skills as long as she stayed with the clan.
And she would....for now.

A secret ability that few White Mages can use, Benediction calls forth a blessing from the Goddess that instantly heals the wounds of your comrades. The effect is tremendous, but if used during a fight, there are more than a few times when the White Mage ends up sacrificing themselves for the good of the party.
