Xena_

The suburban sprawl of Rosewood once housed the workers of a nearby mining complex and their families, when the mine closed decades ago the people eventually moved away. With the town abandoned, the Research Facility of Discovering Xenogenetics and Ufology was secretly built in the depths of the old mine.

It was there, deep beneath the surface, where Xena was created. Project Xena combined samples of DNA found in a meteorite with samples of DNA taken from the project leader Dr. Katharine Foreman. Of the several experiments conducted in the Project, the specimen later named Xena was the only successful one. For several years the scientists observed and recorded the growth of this strange new life form. As soon as it's detemined Xena is strong enough, they begin experimenting with her. Only Dr. Foreman opposes the experiments and refuses to do any harm to the being.

One day, as Xena reached full adulthood, a young man working as a research assistant was browsing inappropriate websites on one of the facility’s computers. Unintentionally, he downloads a virus onto the lab’s system setting into motion a chain of events. The virus causes the seals on Xena’s enclosure to fail, releasing her into the facility. In response to the breach the lab locks down, sealing the doors to the outside, trapping the staff inside with a vengeful predator.


When weekly reports cease to come from the facility, a special team is sent to investigate. Inside the team finds the staff to have been killed, several bodies are missing and there’s no sign of Xena. Dr. Foreman’s body is found in her living quarters, but it’s obvious she didn’t die there. Her body was cleaned and positioned almost lovingly in her bed…

“Shelter”: A lost traveler seeks shelter from a nighttime storm in the ruins of the lab, But Xena is still there.
