Kitsune Facts and Common Culture:


Kitsune facts:

Kitsunes are a species descended from foxgirls and very intune with magic. They often live with foxgirls or allow them in their settlements.

Kitsunes are born with a single tail. They must consume souls to gain more tails. More tails require stronger souls to be consumed. The second and third tails can be obtaiend from virtually any adult soul.

If a soul is not powerful enough to add a new tail it is either digested and added to increase her manapool as soulfat or released if she likes the individual. In emergencies souls can be devoured and direftlt converted to mana.

At birth kitsunes are born with an inate mastery of a random field of one of the seven schools of magic; Illusion, Conjuration, Transformation/Alteration, Destruction, Restoration, Mantipulation/hypnosis or Voidcraft (teleportation, ect). They can learn basics of each field of magic. Each tail doubles their magical power and increases thier mana pool. Usually by 7 tails a kitsune has gained Mastery in all fields. The 8'th and 9'th tail power up all their magics unbelievable levels. A 9 tailed kitsune has the ability to bend the universe and reality itself to her will. Most commonly a kitsune is born with Illusion mastery

Single tailed Kitsunes live on naturally about 150 Ardithian Cycles, roughly 174 earth-years. Each tailed doubles their lifespan and at 9 they become immortal. They show little signs of aging once reaching adulthood

Kitsunes take roughly 4 cycles to become adults. Pregnanct produces a litter of 1-4 kitsunes, most commonly 2. most or all of the litter will be kitsunes

Kitsunes are most often intelligent, vain, mischeivous and seductive. They're a highly sexual species. They can be extremely manipulative and often get neighbouring species to war in hopes of conquering the weakened factions, most often the losers.
They're a species that places high value in grooming, looking well kept and they adore being fluffy. They love to bathe, groom and be pampoured. Pets can expect to be treated similar. Slaves are expected to provide such treatment to their kitsune overlords.


Kitsune culture:

Their culture and building style is oriental, japanese and chinese. Often with Pagodas and large castles. Their cities tend to be walled, as is common. Non Kitsunes or foxes who wish to live with them are often placed in districts, or converted to kitsunes. They frequently hold festivals to fertility where breeding is heavilly encourged. Alcohol and Gambling is prevelant in their society, Sake is commonly consumed by all. They do tend to see themselves as superior to other races. Each settlement tends to give newborns a marking upon reaching adulthood of their village symbol.

Their technology level is that of late Fuedal japan with high magical infulences, I.e firearms exist but are rare, mostly musckets and cannon, use of Swords and arrows are common.

Kitsunes living in other species settlements often contain themselves to a district. They will rarely live in cities that disallow any part of their culture through law.

Ardithian kitsune culture holds a ranked heirachy based on tail-count. Kitsunes can only gain tails through powerful souls. Needing more powerful for each tail.
1-2 tails: Youngling; Considered children by other kitsunes, often treated as such. Many stay as yonuglings through choice, ineptitude or other things. They are forbidden to breed. They're forbidden to consume or harm kitsunes
3-6 tails: Shrine maiden; Most kitsunes live their life here. They are tasked with caring for Younglings and serving those above them. Many are naturally submissive. They are not allowed to breed unless a higher ranked kitsune breeds them. They may not breed with non kitsunes unless it is a Fertiltiy festival. They are forbidden to consume or harm kitsunes.
7 tails: Priestess; Controllers of shrines, leaders spiritually. May breed with maidens or non kitsunes, often keeping harems. They've mastered all fields of magic. They're free to consume lower ranking kitsunes
8 Tails: Matrons; Often rulers of towns and villages. Considered wise rulers, they are incredibly rare and extremely powerful. They may consume other kitsunes and during war against other villages often devour the losing matron.
9 Tails: Goddess; "Infinitely" Powerful, immortal, looked up to and worshiped by all kitsunes. They freely travel between villages and tribes and are worshiped by all, their visits are calls for festivals and believed as blessings. They do as they want, when they want, fewer than 5 are known to exist on Ardith Prime

Kitsune who break the rules of the heirachy in moments of poor judgement are generally outcast, branded with the outcast symbol and cast from the village. Outcasts are free game to slavers and predators, however they're still protected under kitsune law from consumption by other kitsunes. Other villages often accept outcasts into their own tribes.

A Kitsune who is outcast three times, or maliciously and deliberately breaks the rules are branded rouges. They may be freely hunted by other kitsunes and rewards may be offered upon their demise. Rouge kitsunes may be very dangerous

Rarely kitsunes may choose to leave their village to travel or adventure. They are branded with a Merchant's or Adventurer's mark, Showing they still belong to and represent their original settlement. Kitsune villages are oblidged to welcome and aid adventures and merchants unless at war with their origin settlement.

Kitsunes commonly farm Rice, a main food stable and used to produce Sake. They also farm Silk. Often they breed bunnies/lops and mermaids for meat. Lops and notably Koi mermaid also make prized pets. They also grow fruit trees, thanks to the federation they commonly have orchads of Cherries, peaches and grow wheat for bread. They sometimes make jams from fruits to preserve them for trade or luxary goods, and enjoy making wines and ales with frutis too.

Kitsune towns tend to export Silk, Rice, Sake and Fish. They rarely export fruit unless it's converted to jam or booze. Their largest Imports are building materials and slaves.

Kitsunes often adore turning other species into kitsunes, erasing their past and making them reborn. They love outsiders and travellers and highly value foriegn merchants. Members of tribes who are conquered in war will see their entire populus converted and reborn by the conquering kitsunes. Including other Kitsune settlements. Technically this makes Kitsunes one of the most Genocidal speices on Ardith Prime. Slaves are not commonly captured by kitsunes, mostly bred or importated.




Notable Kitsune Factions:

Mythtail Enlightenment: (Divine Kitsune Kaliphate) The largest and one of the only two united Kitsune empires. Ruled by a 9-tailed kitsune known as "God-Empress" Yusharika (You-Sha-Ree-Kah) Who wishes to unite all kitsunes and convert the world to them. It later renamed itself the Divine Kitsune Kaliphate, and declared its desires to purge all other species and convert them to kitsunes.

Silkway Hedgemony: A massive trade faction, their empire desires wealth and luxury over power. They expand and settle new towns to gain new resources for the empire, and trade what they cannot obtain themselves.


Notable Kitsune settlements:

Soulforge: Largest kitsune settlement known. Backed against a large cliff with a meadow and large surrounding it. Waterfalls fill the lake and rivers draw from it. It is the capital of the Mythtail Kingdom. It is directly ruled by a 9-tails from the palace there.
Wisp-Spring: A town built around a large volcanic lake. Many hotsprings are built throught town and it's a popular tourist destination. It is also part of the Mythtail kingdom.

Mistwater: A rich and prosperous Citystate, the most wealthy independent Kitsune city. Built in a lush valley it produces some of the best fruits and drinks. It is a must-stop for any merchants in the area.

Konbridge: A town in the north near the Silfrfang tribes. Konridge is a small but prosperous settlement, it is notable for secretly inciting the Elven-Wolf Wars in the region and subverssive attempts to prevent Ironfang's unification of the Silfr-tribes.

Floofspire: A tiny settlement formerly of 56 kitsunes otherwise un-noteworthy, except it was visited by Cysh and when the locals threw festival to celebrate her visit, it culminated in the dovourment and digestion of the entire town. Souls and all now padding out Cysh's body.
