tl;dr: preyish modern fantasy knightboy for non-fatal digestion, sentient fat stuffs with monster girls

Something about the little outskirts town of Pineshore seems to bring a lot of attention to it... Maybe a magical leyline under the town? Perhaps an untouched spring of perfectly pure water? Perhaps some bureaucratic demon made all roads point to it while serving on the country's ruling branch? Or maybe it's just because the village is on a little cliff near the sea and isn't very well defended... Either way, bandits and monsters and travelling merchants all eventually find their way to the town.

Regardless of the origin of those who visit, there is a few consistent things:
A retired cleric, seeking a refuge from the general chaos of adventuring, placed an aura of peace on the town. Rampaging animals or fierce monsters find their minds clear upon arriving.
The town is self sufficient! The forests nearby provide plenty of game during winter and the farmlands are more than fruitful.

Also a cute Millie_Gnoll who's found herself sticking around to help with guarding and hunting.
and last but not least:

An undying knight watches over the quaint little village! Not the expected variety that's all spooky and smoke-surrounded. Artus just simply can't die!

Should anything too bad happen, like getting digested, he'll simply poof back after a bit, waking up in his bed to defend the town again. Turns out being a knight of the deity overseeing death and being stationed to protect an honored cleric means you get brought back after being churned.

Pineshore lacks most major accomodations, but has what it needs. A small grocery sits next to a well stocked butcher. An elven apothecary runs a pharmacy, keeping the town healthy. A small bakery run by an unlucky wolf-ish man fills the town with the aroma of baked goods. A pair of small restaurants duel for the hearts of the townsfolk, one focusing more on the finesse of fine dining while the other produces warming, homely meals. (Both are excellent. It's important to deceive the chef at either to make them try harder.)
