Physical Appearance
Iolite is an adorable little girl, with an apparent age of about 8 years. She has sapphire-blue hair, and her eyes fade from deep blue to dull gray to sharp yellow, based on her mood. She wears a dress the same color as her hair, with a very plain design. She can summon other pieces of clothing in the same color as well (gloves, stockings, flip-flops, etc.), though this and some blue panties are generally all she wears.
Iolite wears a choker around her neck, with a cat's eye iolite gemstone in it. That is, a so-called "water sapphire" that reflects light in a vertical band down the center. However, the gemstone is actually embedded just above her rib cage, the choker being worn for camouflage.

Special Abilities
As mentioned above, Iolite is able to summon clothing in her standard blue color. She has also learned to summon a pair of blue tentacles from the back of her neck, which she can move with incredible speed. At times, particularly when frightened, she has been known to move her whole body at super-sonic speed as well, though these bursts of speed generally wear off as quickly and suddenly as they start.
Iolite's body is made of light, and as such, can be transformed into various shapes, or even retracted into her gem to heal if it gets too badly damaged. As long as her gem remains undamaged, Iolite can recover from any other injury, given enough time. She could, theoretically, fuse with others who have similar bodies, too.
Iolite has learned to create a round pink barrier, or "bubble", which she can use to shield herself, or to contain other objects or people. It's very difficult to break from the inside, but a sufficient force to the exterior will cause the bubble to pop.
In an emergency, Iolite will retreat into her gem and raise an exceptionally solid bubble around it, one that can withstand the force of a nuclear explosion, and that even she cannot lower for at least a few hours after raising it. This is only used in extreme circumstances, though, where she feels as though her life depends on it.
Iolite is able to summon herself from any Illusion Materia that her Nana may have given out. When this happens, the Materia is transformed temporarily into Iolite's gem, and remains attached to her for the duration of her stay. When Iolite leaves, whether due to injury or just getting bored, the gem returns to being an Illusion Materia.
Finally, Iolite can summon two Light Hawk Wings-- embodiments of hyperdimensional energy. These are primarily defensive in nature, and she rarely uses them, often forgetting she even has them, as most potential threats could be handled without resorting to anywhere near their level of power. If she ever needs to pull herself out of a black hole, though, these things will allow that.

Personality
As she is still young, Iolite has some rather childish personality traits. She's sweet and innocent, and fairly naïve. She enjoys playing with dolls, especially ones that can come alive on their own. She takes very good care of her toys, treating them with kindness and respect.
Iolite can be rather timid around people she doesn't know. When she was younger, this used to result in her eyes turning yellow and the girl dashing off behind the nearest building when a stranger spoke to her with anything but the kindest of tones. While she has largely gotten accustomed to meeting new people, it still takes some time to get her to fully lower her defenses, and freak-outs can still happen from time to time.
Iolite believes very strongly in promises. She will refuse to make any promise she's not 100% certain she can keep, and will be very upset if she catches someone breaking a promise. However, she also respects the power of loopholes, and while she will still be a bit grouchy about it, she can be calmed down by explaining the ways that a promise is technically being upheld, even if violating the apparent intent.

Other Notes/Relations
Despite her apparent age, Iolite's body is physically mature enough to enjoy sexual arousal.
Cat_Sidhe_Nekoko (also played by me) is her "Nana"-- her mother's mother.
Yume_no_Mytyl (also played by me) is her "cousin". Technically her aunt, but Mytyl doesn't like that term.
Iolite is good friends with the Plot_Convenience Fairies (also played by me).
Iolite received a full set of Chaos Emeralds for Christmas! She can now go Super Iolite! ...probably. Hasn't actually tried it yet.
Iolite has finally met another Gem, much like herself, in the form of Psi_Dot. The two have become fast friends.
