Height: 5'9"
Weight: 130 lbs.

If she had a theme song, Resolve like Steel would be it.

Setting: Default is Falacaerr, but this is a very flexible part of RP. Feel free to use another setting.

History
Some girls seem to always know what they want to be when they grow up. Charity Cormack, heiress to a hereditary knighthood of Falacaerr and orphaned while young by the passing of her father, grew up in a church convent for young girls until she was of age to inherit her estate. Brought up in loving environment where people genuinely cared for her and carefully nurtured her, Charity grew up with the ideals of self-sacrifice, protecting the weak, and kindness to the unfortunate. Brave warriors and gentle servants alike provided many role models for her to emulate.

Given her strong spirit and will, Charity felt herself drawn more to the military arm of the Church of Kandoryth. But her motherly, affectionate nature and desire to care for people made her embrace the training and role of a Maternal Guardian rather than a standard paladin or monk. Borne of a need to protect the vulnerable elements of a fighting force, the Falaricae had solved the problem rather uniquely by placing their spellcasters into the tanks. A Guardian trained from an early age and learned how to unbirth her charges, immuring them into the comfort of her uterus while becoming attuned to having spells cast out of her womb. Even as a little girl then, she was exposed to the rigors of military and mental discipline.

Otherwise, Charity is just like a normal girl, usually polite, friendly, and warm-hearted. She is a paladina but doesn't have a holier-than-thou attitude, something which is anathema to all true servants of God. Being a paladina to her means defending the weak, praying for your enemies, and treating each task, no matter how mundane, as another chance to demonstrate virtue and learn patience. So message her, she always likes making new friends.

Due to a foolish blood pact which one of her ancestors made with fairies, Charity (and almost all human Falaricae) is an absolute slave to fairies. She must follow any and all commands they issue to her, regardless of her own will in the matter, and is physically incapable of disobedience. She is also incapable of voluntarily harming a fairy.

OOC Notes:
- Charity is both predator and prey.
- Males or females are welcome. Herms too, if I'm interested.
- She's very soft towards children and glad to bear the young, a product of her mother's influence.
- Micro/macro and other size-difference play is loved and adored!
- Player likes to throw her into bad situations for drama.
- She can reform, but usually only with the help of others.
- What I value about all else in partners: creativity and sophistication.
- Any questions? Do ask.

Maternal Guardian information
Original concept by The_Willful_Wanderer, adapted by me for Falacaerr.

Maternal Guardian
The Maternal Guardian emphasizes a blend of martial prowess with protective ability. Enemies who stumble upon a Guardian are almost always surprised to find themselves facing not one opponent, but two or more. These highly-skilled women selflessly place themselves in harm's way to protect their less durable friends and companions, using their bodies as living shields. A Guardian stores a person in her womb, but this person is by no means inactive; indeed, her magical tempering allows her guest to cast spells out of her womb, making even a single Guardian very dangerous in combat.

Guardians come from all walks of life and many professions, but they share the bonds of sisterhood and a rigorous training lifestyle to realize their potential as women. Their personal reasons for donning the Guardian's mantle are as varied as the women themselves. Some are paladins and clerics who seek to selflessly aid others. Some are fighters and barbarians in need of spellpower to augment their formidable combat skills. Still others are rogues and infiltrators who use the Guardian's abilities to better kidnap and imprison their victims.

Background
A Guardian's training is usually handled on a personal basis even within formal schools or guilds, with an experienced Guardian taking an apprentice under her wing and into her womb. The friendship between a Guardian and her apprentice resembles that of mother and daughter (indeed, in many traditions the apprentice calls the Guardian "mother" and the Guardian addresses her apprentice as "daughter" or "child"); these friendships often last an entire lifetime. Such girls are expected to spend their first year or two strengthening their bodies for the rigor of combat and pregnancy as well as learning to adapt socially to pregnancy. Leg strength and core muscle strength is emphasized, with many physical exercises to improve the girl's balance, physical control, endurance, and muscle power. The girl is also taught etiquette, and spends a large amount of time in her Guardian's womb to learn how a guest feels. Apprentices wishing to specialize in combat are given additional training in magic theory and arms or subterfuge and assassination.

Once the apprentice has developed the necessary strength and control to unbirth, her fellow apprentices refer to her as Elder Sister. (This can vary widely agewise from girl to girl and no girl is allowed to try the Unbirthing Rite until she has bled, as her womb is not capable of supporting life before then.) The girl remains under her Guardian's care and supervision but is exposed to an ever-widening circle of teachers who can train her in specialized knowledge. The role of Guardian and apprentice may also reverse, as the girl spends her time carrying her Guardian and learning to adjust to pregnancy with a living being in her. Good schools train their students to carefully and selflessly care for their guests, with the admonition that the girl has a mother's responsibility to anyone who enters her womb. Evil schools often bring victims to their students to teach them how to interrogate and torture their prisoners, as well as using harsh tactics to break the maternal instinct. When a girl is ready, she is presented to her organization as a candidate for the right to bear the title of a full Guardian and tested extensively. Thus a new Maternal Guardian is accepted and the cycle repeats. Many elderly women or females of long-lived races have trained dozens or even hundreds of guardians.

Lore
Guardians are rare in the world due to the rigorous nature of their training, which demands a tremendous amount of self-sacrifice. While Guardians can easily recognize each other, this recognition seems limited to the Guardians themselves. The few formal schools and guilds of Guardians which exist tend to be close-knit and very supportive, more like an extended family than a business association. Mutual respect and affectionate warmth are the reigning traits of interactions between Guardians, as each Guardian considers another, even a stranger, to be her sister. Ill feelings rarely arise between Guardians and the few that do are usually quickly and pleasantly resolved in the interest of keeping peace and maintaining protection.

Scholars researching the origins of the Guardian skills have come across only fragmented accounts at best, many of them incomplete or mutually contradictory. Very little originated within the Guardian schools themselves and even today many of the formal Guardian associations do not possess a clear history of their past. What is beyond question, however, is that the discipline was created specifically for the protection of the weak and vulnerable, as even the earliest reliable accounts agree on this vital detail. From its area of origination, the skills of the Guardians spread slowly through diffusion and osmosis, often incompletely and very rarely keeping the level of professionalism expected of a modern day Maternal Guardian. What modern scholars can be certain of is that the Guardian phenomenon is a recent one. Even the earliest records and internal folklore of the Guardian orders document their remarkable synergy with spellcasters of all types and disciplines, which dates the foundation of the Guardian discipline as no older than the diaspora of learning in higher magic.

One piece of oral history which has consistently fascinated historians is the often apocryphal tale of the Progenitor, a single woman who is credited with developing most of the foundational traditions and abilities of Maternal Guardians. Although the stories differ in details such as her name, race, and area of origin, most agree that she was an individual of transcendent talent and ability who became dissatisfied with existing methods of protecting spellcasters in battle. Understanding the unique vulnerabilities that are a necessary burden when using higher magic, this woman sought a different way of protecting her wards and discovered it in placing them within her own body. Proponents of the Progenitor theory point to the large number of compatible details within the various Guardian accounts, highly suggestive of a single origin. Skeptics contend that one lifetime would hardly be sufficient to develop such highly refined Guardian techniques, as well as the dearth of knowledge in practically every other aspect of the Progenitor's life.

Although Guardians are affectionate with each other, they tend to be more reserved around those who do not share their discipline. Unbirthing is a very intimate form of protection and usually a modicum of trust must exist between Guardian and ward before a Guardian will offer her body to him. Guardians tend to cultivate close relationships rather than broad friendships. Even spellcasting schools which regularly employ Guardians cannot ever feel completely at ease; the power disparity is unmistakeable, and while spellcasters carry a great deal of respect for Guardians, only rarely does it blossom into genuine love.

Maternal Guardians in Society

The various Maternal Guardian orders are comprised exclusively of women. Conventional Guardians are typically seen in society as being gentle, kind, nurturing, helpful, and soft-spoken; while they train for martial excellence, they esteem the feminine qualities of sensitivity, yielding, and empathy, and teach the use of violence as solely a last resort. A Guardian's training and her lifestyle are extremely difficult, however; while many young girls aspire to be Guardians, few are willing to devote their entire lives to selfless sacrifice and rigorous discipline. This is the primary reason that Guardian numbers tend to be low. A gathering of Guardians is always warm and lively, members treasuring the time to share knowledge and strengthen the bonds of sisterhood. Evil Guardians are villified and feared in greater society as heartless assassins and kidnappers of children. Some nations vigorously deny their existence altogether, but where they do prowl their names are spoken of in whispers. Evil Guardians are also known for being notoriously vindictive, with a woman willing to go to great lengths to kidnap a victim for a perceived slight. In the few places where they hold direct positions of power, the populace is thoroughly cowed by wandering patrols of women who force subservience through terror tactics.

The Guardians are happy to share their training with members of any sentient race. While most of the relatively few Guardians are human, the much longer-lived elves and dwarves tend to have fewer but more experienced Guardians. Guardians have also been found in the ranks of Drow, giants, and even more exotic races: the tiny fae lady Calithyn of Buttercup was one of the most accomplished Guardians in history, and the moon goddess Ivina trained as a Guardian in the disguise of a mortal woman. Most Guardians, both good and bad, maintain a low profile whenever possible, though the legends surrounding the greatest of them (such as Elewyn Adryllyn or Calithyn herself) make traveling incognito difficult at best.

Because Guardians are rare, their services are highly prized. Spellcasters often seek a single Guardian to be a lifelong companion for her services and the care she can provide. Because of their natural affinity for having spells cast out of them, spellcasters and Guardians work well in tandem. Magic academies often host Guardians as well, usually to provide senior faculty with a safe and secure location to research magic in peace and solitude, and it is not unheard of for such professors to remain in the womb for ten or twenty years if the Guardian is willing to carry him. Royal armies also actively hire both good and evil Guardians for service in arms and politics. Good Guardians are maintained as part of an army's elite guard with the most powerful of wizards assigned to their wombs, and each woman forms a bond of friendship with her designated spellcasters. Evil Guardians, kept as part of secret forces or assassin specialists, are viewed with fear and distrust by the remainder of the army, whom they have little compunction against terrorizing. However, in all cases the Guardian does not belong to the institution hiring her services; the Guardian has no permanent allegiance except to the ideals of her creed, though her services may be retained for a time.

Both good and evil Guardians marry, there being no rule which prohibits such a ceremony and contract. A Guardian who marries, however, is expected to place her duties second to her wifely obligations except in emergencies. Thus the birth and rearing of children becomes her emphasis for the following years. Good orders prize healthy marriages as ways to teach their Guardians the joys and travails of motherhood and a marriage is a joyous occasion celebrated by Guardians in the vicinity regardless of affiliation. Good Guardians may carry another person in their wombs if not with child, but with the understanding that such pregnancy will not stop them from having intercourse with a husband. Evil Guardians marry for a chance to improve social status, for riches, political gain, or some other advantage with love rarely involved, and in private tend to try to dominate their husbands through terror. A model wife in public, in the bed she enjoys nothing more than a chance to make her husband squirm with pain and terror in her womb.

Both types of Guardians also form associations: good Guardians band together in quasi-religious orders and refer to themselves as Sisterhoods, while evil Guardians tend to congregate as illegal guilds or syndicates. Both types also recruit actively but this is done on an individual basis; the Guardian, not the organization, makes the decision. Good Guardians offer apprenticeships to promising girls and evil Guardians abduct or persuade girls to become their squiresses. While most orders across all species prefer girls on the cusp of womanhood, it is not unheard of for older women to be trained as well (Lyryll Shiroi and the goddess Ivina are both good examples of this). Training last from four to eight years until a girl is deemed worthy of the full title of Maternal Guardian. Especially dedicated and loved Guardians may be honored with the titles of Maternal Matron, which gives them the right to be addressed as "Mother" by members of the Sisterhoods and guilds. The oldest Guardians who are voted as heads of their Sisterhoods or syndicates are honored with the praenom of "Grandmother" or "Mother Superior."

Never/Dislike Sweet Charity is more of a prey-ish type now since she doesn't really have the mentality of a predator. But, it doesn't mean she won't pred if she has the incentive!
