Once part of an order of noble knights, Gideon grew disenfranchised with the order’s bureaucracy and reluctance to act unless certain conditions were met. He at last broke ties with the order to fight a powerful dark force spreading across the land.

During his quest he rescued a young woman, who turned out to be a witch, from this dark force. Together they and a ragtag band of fellow misfits defeated the dark force. Gideon was believed lost in the final climactic battle. He did survive, but at terrible cost.

Cursed by the dark force in its final moment, he now wanders the land neither truly alive or dead. Food is as ash in his mouth, no drink can satisfy his thirst; only living flesh can hold these wants at bay. His hopes rest in finding his close friend and ally Myrrine, the witch he saved and fought alongside; surely she could help end his suffering.
