The Guardian of Hell
Back when Ketsuki was in active duty in the Army of Hell, she fought in the Great War one of the greatest Mercenaries. Not the fight between Heaven and Hell that would bring the end of the world.No, instead it was Heaven and Hell working together to defeat the Uprising of Corrupted Angels and their Children called the Nephilim.
Since Hellhounds were created as Guarddogs of Hell, they were meant to serve two purposes. The first one is obviously as Security Guards that keep Order in Hell. The other use was to Dispose of any Mortal or Demon going against the laws of Hell. If Hell is already the Final Prison where Evil is brought to Justice, then where do you put the Individuals that even break the Laws of Hell? Do you send them to Super Hell? No, you just use them as tasty treats to keep your Guards happy. With their insanely strong Digestive system these Hellhounds can choose how fast they process their meals.
So they can enjoy a single soul for a long time or digest them almost instantaniously. This fact allows them to eat literal mountains of meat or devour entire Armies in an alarmingly short ammount of time. So they were the perfect Soldiers to send out to face the Rebels and aid Heavens Armies. Some of the Angles were on mounts as a sort of cavalry. They offered Ketsuki for example a 'Black Stallion' as a Mount, but she and the other Hellhounds prefered to stay on foot.
If a soul is digested by a Hellhound, they can choose to fully absorb it which traps that soul inside of the Beast forever and fuels Hounds power. But should they decide to eat a person that isn't actually that evil just out of hunger, they can revive the person. After Ketsuki had a run in with a 'vampire woman' that could escape due to her having devoured and stored souls herself, she learned to digest all souls her prey may have held.
So in short, if you can manage to gain the loyalty of a Hellhound, you'll have a loving companion and Protector in life and death, forever. Though don't be too sure of your abilities, nearly all Beings tend to be seen as food by them. Or at best, Toys for their entertainment.
