As you can see, this profile is designed to give those interested a little bit more insight into the village known as Kitaro Village, home to Cierra and June Palmer, the sisters this setting was creator for, as well as many others, too.
(Do note, that anyone may register to live here, not just the creators characters. If you wish to do so, ask. Anyone not owned by the player will be listed as such as well.)
The village itself is comprised of many old fashioned, medieval buildings, mostly madeof wood and stone. The village is placed in an area of the world where the technological advancement is currently in that era, so it does make sense. While other places may already be futuristic by comparison, those seem to be eceptions in this wide world Kitaro is situated on. The village is centred around a single, large hall known as the Elder's Hold, where the village elder always resides and rules the village from. It's like the government building of the entire place, where big decisions are handled and people of importance are housed.
From around this hall, there are residential houses forming rings around the Elder's Hold. Where most villagers live. There are about 3 rings in total, each with more buildings then the last as you might have guessed, before things start to straighten out a bit more. Here, you'll find the main market square as well as the Hall of Magic as well, though on opposite sides of the village to each other, the market square to the east and the Hall of Magic to the west to the housing rings. There are more homes in this area too, though they are more spread out across the north and south sides.
Next, we come to the northern border, where the Village is surrounded by a dense forest. All across the north side and parts of the east and west, this forest blocks all access to the outside world. A river runs through the edges of the forest, making the perfect place to settle. Buildings in this area, other than the spares houses that have been built where chopped trees used to stand, only include the Guard Barracks, (the building standing at the front right of the picture) which not only houses the guards that keep the village safe, but also serves as a high quality training grounds and stable, too. From here, any threat can be met swiftly and decisively no matter how severe. Well, unless you bring an army, of course.
To the west, most of the area is covered by forested mountains, so there isn't much built there yet. The area mostly used for hunting purposes to collect meat, or to gather fruits and berries or even herbs for medicine and cooking. The mountains on this side stretch on completely, joining those of the south which in turn join those of the east, forming a complete ring on 3 sides of the village, leaving only the forest to the north as an obstacle there.
To the east, you will find the mentioned Market Square as well as a logging camp, where all the lumber in the village is processed after being cut from the forest. Few houses lie here due to it being a more commercial and industrial area, even containing the village smithy, where magical weapons and armour are forged. Only magical eaquipment too, given the village is small and highly skilled with magic, they figured it'd be more effective to simply just enchant everything, rather than only a few items like the larger cities and nations do. Thus, the guards are usually able to match a force twice their initial ability by utilizing magical gear to boost themselves, or even greater if they group together.
Finally, we have the south, where most of the village territory lies. Here there are farms that stretch from the village to the mountais on either side, and most of the way back to the far south ones, too. These providing most of the food the village gets. They reach all the way up to the village itself, too, with houses that grow sparser the further south you go, and a large school house sitting right next to the fields of the closest farm. That one also helping with lessons from time to time as the students get valuable life experience by visiting or working there. Within the mountains themselves lie the mines that fuel both the stoneworks that sits just further south of the farmlands, and the smithy in the east. The only exception to this being the very central south mountain, which is home to the Shrine of Kitaras, the patron deity the Village was named for. This shrine is located at the base of the mountain, though that is where the entrance is. The actual building and grounds for it reach up to about a third of the way up the mountain, where the Shrine Guardian is said to live. Well, one of them, anyway. The village always keeps two Shrine Guardians, one for the top and one for the base of the shrine. The one from the base also being made to perform duties aorund the village when needed.
That's about it for the layout of the village. Which brings us to the village's other important information.
The village itself is not tied to any nation, big or small, as it is a completely independant location. It is isolated and well protected naturally and by it's residents. It has furtile soil and rich mountains as well as plentiful animal and plant life around it. This has led to it being a targeted locale by the more greedy of the neighbouring rulers, who wish to have this land for themselve by any means necessary. Though, they can't afford to launch a large assault on it, given that'd give the others chance to invade their territory, instead. Thus Kitaro Village had always known relative peace from those who covet it. Not that they don't try brutal dimplomacy when rejected, or regular once more when that fails them. So far, no leader of the village has ever given in and the people remain independant still. Something they all hold pride in deeply.
The village itself holds a unique language that is only used by those who become Shrine Guardians, or are the current Elder leading the village. This language is known as Kita and is once more derived from Kitaras. The word Kita, meaning Sacred Word, Kitaro meaning Kitaras' Home and Kitaras being the diety that these names came from. There are other words, but unless you speak the language, you'd be hard pressed to ever hear them used, especially if you're an outsider.
