A setting to rp in, related to The_Naga_Empire. A millenia has passed since the Hyschari Empire reached it's peak in the ancient world, and with the advent of modernization it has only expanded it's dominion further. Countless cities, a population of several millions, and a modern day lifestyle have all transformed what was once a peaceful land thousands of years ago into a thriving, bustling metropolis, still under the watchful and ravenous rule of the Hyschari Naga. This is a good setting for simple one-off vore rps as well as more story-driven content, slice-of-life scenes and much more. The Empire has evolved, from a tribe of conquering barbarians to a mysterious kingdom of the ancient world, and now, a global power with worldwide influence. A BRIEF HISTORY For 2000 years, Hyscharak remained in it's Second Age, slowly stagnating amidst it's grandiose structure. It had seen itself rebuilt, destroyed and rebuilt again, each time marking a new chapter in a history that never really advanced- until the Emperor in 1984 2.A. made the decree acknowledging the sentience of humankind. Almost overnight, an age that had lasted for 2 millenia saw itself to a close, reluctantly welcoming a new race, with new ideas. Today, Hyscharak exists in what the Empire has deemed The Third Age, an era celebrated as Hyscharak's modern era. The year is now 479 3.A., almost 500 years since the acceptance of humankind as a member race of Imperial society. Almost as if spurred by man's ingenuity, the Third Age has become known as an era of creation and discovery., each century bringing with it a new innovation. Steampower, Electricity, Fossil Fuels. New sciences, new constructions. Where once the Old Empire stood there now exists a vast New Empire of steel and concrete, highways and airports connecting the Imperial Continent in ways never before seen. What new world awaits those living in the Empire? Where will their lives take them, and what of the Hyschari? How have they changed? Only time may tell. THE NEW HYSCHARI In olden times, the Hyschari were viewed as a singular race of naga, but as time went on and the empire spread out, the Hyschar began to mingle with other draconcopede races. Coatl serpents, various naga breeds and in some regions, even lamias. This has produced a much wider variety in the naga race, and with that a number of sweepng changes to their culture and religion. The Hyschari religion dictates that the god Hysch created the serpent race to rule all others, who were made to serve as sustenance for the naga. At the height of it's power, this faith was ruthlessly enforced, and questioning the faith or doubting the Hyschari was almost seen as heretical. Nowadays however, the Hyschari have learned to loosen the reins, giving the people the freedom to choose what to beleive in. However, the faith is so burned into their society that there will always be those who seek to worship the naga race. MODERN-DAY LIFE IN HYSCHARAK Hyscharak now more closely resembles our world at present day. While the old temples and palaces still stand, they are often now dwarfed by the surrounding office towers and high rise apartments. People take the train to work, get stuck in traffic, kids play videogames and eat bad cafeteria food at school. But for all it's similarites, there are QUITE a few massive differences. Slavery has evolved into a business; while it is still used as a form of capital punishment, willing servitude offers citizens a high-risk, high-reward option. The more lethal the contract, the higher the pay. The simplest contract is generally safe, for minimal pay one can find work as an assistant or butler. Other contracts stipulate the loss of personal or sexual freedom, for example a waitress under sexual contract can and will often be used by her customers for greater tips. and the most lethal contracts state the absolute possibility of being devoured, or butchered for meat. Slavery exists in other forms as well, sometimes as punishment, or simply through breeding, bringing up generations of slaves. Hyscharak is a nation of carnivores and herbivores living together, and because slaves who've entered lethal contracts for one reason or another have given up their individual rights as people, they no longer fall under the protection of Hyschari law. Thus,to quell the predatory needs of carnivores, slaves are often used for meat to be distributed to various markets. (More to come as I work on details.)
