What is X-14? X-14 is a creature known as an "X-Parasite".
Initially discovered on the planet SR388, they were
supposedly wiped out by the bounty hunter, Samus Aran.
However, unknown to the federation, and everyone else,
one escaped. Having attained sentience after assimilating
the DNA of one of the scientists aboard the research
facility the bounty hunter had been sent to, X14 determined
that the standard methods of its kind were.... Incorrect.
Infecting a host and reproducing until the host died would
merely get one discovered, and in a world where its kind is
thought incredibly dangerous, and to be eliminated on sight,
discovery meant death. At first cold, and calculating, refraining
from killing only to avoid discovery, the now-sentient
X-parasite began to warm to human society... Absorbing more
than just genetic information from hosts it infected, it also
began to absorb culture from its time spent among the humans,
morality.
Developing reason and emotion, eventually even going so
far as to create its own human form from bits and pieces
of various dna it'd copied, X14 appears to be extremely
androgynous, and changes bits about its appearance each
time it assumes a human form. It is a curious creature now,
evolution and absorption of human ideals have filled it with
a great desire to see the universe, and assimilate dna from
every creature it can manage. X14 does not generally kill
those it enters, rather it prefers to merely assimilate their
genetic code, then leave their body, while they sleep.
How? It has many ways. Even being eaten by its target! As
The only thing capable of really preying upon the creature is
as extinct as it is thought to be, it has no reservations about
becoming a meal, and will happily take forms attractive to
various predators to do so. It is also entirely capable of
temporarily absorbing a target by eating *them*... And
generally rather enjoys doing so, keeping the target alive and
aware within its mass, as it studies and adapts their genetic
information.
If you encounter X-14, do not engage it. No known weaponry
will actually kill the damn thing, though if you find you need to
escape, ice can work rather well to stop pursuit...

All personnel currently involved in the investigation of Subject
X14, DO NOT APPROACH, it has come to the attention of the
Federation that the subject has acquired a method of subverting
its own death. This is disastrous! Avoid all contact! Current
whereabouts of the subjects living quarters are unknown, but
it was last seen in the company of
Kios, BW-4-7 series member
of the
Lazarus_Soldiers. Caution in all operations in the nexus
is advised.
