Somewhere far and away from the intrusions of civilization is a land described only in whisper. A place where the supernatural live openly and supplant the natural order of things. Its original name has long been forgotten, buried by some great cataclysm that left the land polluted with ethereal magic. Its features, its ecosystems. All of it has been changed, making it almost alien to the surrounding realms. Whatever happened left the very fabric of reality warped and eroded. Most striking however is what it has done to the regional demographics! Virtually every race that still lives there has become monogender, entirely female and all beautiful! From this the land gained its current name – the Sapphic Wilds.
For being so mysterious and far removed, the Sapphic lands are surprisingly large. They contain a wide range of ecosystems from rolling plains to lush jungles and arid deserts. There are even more alien environs that reflect the saturation of mana like islands that float in the sky or forests of glowing crystallized trees. Travelers should do well to remember that rhyme or reason doesn't necessarily factor in and should be prepared to traverse all manner of climate.
And the multitude of indescribable phenomena that flare up throughout. Many of which no doubt caused by the saturation of magic and the damaged veil that separates reality from the many great beyonds.
Environs
The Chaste Mountains
Separating much of the Sapphic Lands from the outside world are the Chaste mountains. They represent a foreboding barrier of jagged peaks coated in pure white snow and bottomless chasms. Each mountain seems taller than the last and steeper, too. Chill winds roar between them, coating anything unlucky enough to get caught in them with frost. And yet for all their danger, researchers believe it was these mountains that prevented the calamity from spreading any further. Between natural formations of crystals that seem to absorb magic and strange monoliths engraved with glowing glyphs, it's almost as if someone had prepared for it all those centuries ago.
Traveling through the Chaste Mountains is no easy feat as there are few natural routes and even fewer man-made. The Glitter Pass by far is the easiest to take but only in the summer when the weather permits. The rest of the year it is covered by virgin snow! While most people give credit to early explorers sent by the Merchant Princes of the Valesian City states who hoped to exploit the Sapphic Wilds, it was actually built over an existing road that belonged to a now forgotten Empire. It gets its name from the sheer ice walls and rock formations that seem to glisten and sparkle in the sun.
The only other reasonably safe path is through the Elden Low Ways. They are a system of ancient tunnels, many of which carved by Dwarven clans or Dark Elven kingdoms, which go from one side of the mountains to the other. Many have fallen into disrepair over time from neglect or from battles fought between the different rivaling states that use them. It's also very easy to get lost in them without a proper map. Roving bandits and bands of slavers represent another threat to people wishing to pass through! And, of course, all the monsters that lurk in the deep dark.
Enchanted Wood
There are a lot of forests throughout the Sapphic Wild and many seem to come straight out of fairy tales. Among the largest is the Enchanted Wood. It is a temperate forest that hosts other worldly lights, strange ambient noise, and trees with striking colors. The winds of magic flow freely here and create naturally occurring illusions that can throw off even some fae who dwell there. Outsiders will however make the risky journey for the Enchanted Wood plays host to a number of rare herbs and fungi that are worth a lot on the open market. They can be made into potions or used as spices in exotic dishes.
Most humanoids in the Enchanted Wood, fae or otherwise, may be feral despite their appearances and should be treated with caution. They can be every bit as dangerous and predatory as wild beasts and some of them can use innate magic.
Emerald Jungle
The jungles in the southern half of the Sapphic Wilds are verdant paradises teaming with life but also a great many dangers. There are numerous predatory species and many varieties of carnivorous plants ready to attack the unsuspecting. The Emerald Jungle is one of the smaller examples but no less important. While a traveler may be forgiven in thinking its name comes from the leaves of the magically imbued trees, it is in fact because of the large emerald formations that jut out of the earth throughout the jungle. These and the ancient ruins draw in adventurers looking for fame and fortune though sadly many are never seen again.
In addition to all the other threats, there are roving tribes of warrior women who attack anyone that isn't their own. It's safe to say anyone caught will have an unpleasant fate awaiting them.
Gloom Swamps
One of the largest tracts of forested wetland can be found along the Lesbos river that cuts through the heart of the Sapphic Wilds. Called the Gloom Swamps, it is a dense and sweltering place full of danger. Carnivorous plants, deadly fungi, living quicksand, voracious giant amphibians and ruthless tribes of gator men are just a small taste of what it has to offer. Pungent and even toxic gases also fill the air in some places, some of which so potent that they may kill a person in seconds. This is all without taking into consideration the various freak phenomena that take place here.
Danger aside, it is also teaming with life. Both fae, flora, and fauna. A great variety can be found throughout, many of which can't be found anywhere else. A lot of plants from the Gloom Swamps can be used for medicinal purposes or as components of spells.
One of the reasons for the swamp's name are all the glowing plants, animals, and fungi that appear at night. It helps create a gloomy atmosphere, hence the name.
Desert of Sorrowful Night
Somewhere in the western part of the Sapphic Wilds is a sea of glistening white and black sand where the sun never rises and the moon never leaves. It is a cursed place deeply polluted by the magic that caused the calamity all those centuries ago. A result of which is a veil of eternal night that perpetually hangs over the desert. All light comes from the very unnatural moon which still somehow advances through all the phases its normal counterpart goes through. When full, that light reflects off the sand in a dazzling display that yet still does not dispel the darkness.
Life still somehow survives in these unusual circumstances, though much of it can be quite ruthless. There are cacti that explode when threatened, shooting out poisonous needles in all directions. There are all manner of sand shark that swim beneath the surface, ready to pounce upon the unwary. Giant Scorpions prowl the towering dunes while wretched undead haunt ruins that dot the desert. It is these ruins that often lure in would-be adventurers who come looking for artifacts. When the winds blow, the sea of sand will ebb and flow to reveal them. However, anyone exploring them should be careful lest the sand roll back in and trap them.
Broken Wastes
Contrasting the lush jungles and vibrant forests are the Broken Wastes in the central lands of the Sapphic Wilds. It gets its name from the hundreds of chasms and canyons, great and small, that scar the earth. While it's possible some formed naturally, virtually all appear the result of the great calamity. The taint of magic can be seen in the crystal formations that just out of the ground in places, glowing with otherworldly powers. Strange and terrible phenomena are unsurprisingly very common, leading to the untimely end of many a poor soul.
The climate can be very inhospitable, with temperatures reaching extreme highs during the day and extreme lows at night. It is an arid place and life seems sparse. However even here flora, fauna, and fae have found ways to eke out an existence. Most notably around hidden springs and sporadic oasis the appear and disappear over night. There are also perilous terrain, ground that may collapse with one wrong step or pits of tar ready to suck down the unwary. Scalding geysers may burst to the surface without warning and some pools of water may in fact be highly acidic.
Adventurers travel here mostly to harvest the crystal formations for the magic, however wild, is overflowing.
The Glistening Coast
The seas off the coast of the Sapphic Wild are, not surprisingly, unpredictable during the best of times. Most of the year though they are chaotic and dangerous even do the denizens of the Wild. There is one small exception and that is around a strip of land bordering the sea that locals call the Glistening Coast. Here the skies are calmer and the tides more predictable. The beaches are made of fine sand and the waters sparkle under the mid day sun. Anyone who has seen it liken it to looking at sparkling jewels. Nearby reefs are made of colorful and impressive corals which also seem to shine at times. Near them are vast kelp forests and undersea caves, all of which home to a wide range of aquatic life.
Sadly, as with most every other place in the Wild, there are many dangers here. There are days when the weather gets out of control. When terrible storms do roll in, though these occasions are thankfully rare. More pressing are the myriad types of predators that lurk just below the surface. Giant cephalopods, voracious sharks, murderous eels, deadly sea anemone, and even barnacles that are capable of snatching pixies from the air. Past the reefs are the realm of great sea beasts, leviathans that can sink ships on a whim.
Fae thrive here in spite of the dangers from all manner of mer folk to nymphs. The most sophisticated of which have repurposed sunken ruins into settlements. Not all of them are receptive to strangers and some are every bit the predator as the mega sharks.
Twilight Roads
Somewhere underground is a vast system of caverns and caves connected by tunnels, some of which most certainly weren't formed naturally. Collectively they are known as the Twilight Roads and are said to have entrances in every region throughout the Sapphic Wild. Most of the Twilight Roads remain unexplored by even the City States and tribes who live above them. Some even speculate its branches into the Elden Low Ways which bypass the Chaste Mountains.
Despite no sunlight, there is life here that have adapted superbly to their environment. Giant blind salamanders stalk crystal clear pools and underground lakes while driders scurry through caves. Land barnacles hang from the ceiling, waiting for unwary victims to pass under and brush against their long tentacles. Many plants down here, in absence of sunlight, have evolved to be carnivorous. Even the fungi have an insatiable hunger for fae.
For all the countless predators stalking the dark of the Twilight Roads, it is not all a struggle for survival. Tranquility can be found in the Twilight Roads and beauty, too. For every carnivorous plant, there are ones that subsist on mineral rich water and earth or feed off the ambient magic. They in turn glow and provide a modicum of illumination. How underground glads and even forests can be found along the Twilight Roads, bathed in the light of not just flora but magic crystals that almost glow bright enough to light the way.
These cave systems are home to a scant few civilizations. Like on the surface, they act as autonomous city states ruled by one race or another who compete for what little resources they have access too. Raids are not uncommon.
Travelers would do well to avoid traveling too deep for even the Dark Elves that live there speak of eldritch things and worse that lurk far below. Ravenous and writhing.
Phenomena
Sapheo Springs
Scattered throughout the Sapphic Wilds are steamy pools that could easily be mistaken for hot springs. Indeed, under normal circumstances they would be but a seasoned adventurer would easily recognize them for what they were – spring water contaminated with ambient magic welling up from beneath the earth.
For women they are hardly a danger. If anything, they have rejuvenating powers for skin and rumors suggest they even enhance both bust and curves. However, they are somewhat hazardous for men. This is because any male that is exposed to the faintly golden waters for a prolonged period of time will begin to undergo an irreversible metamorphosis. A man that stays in a Sapheo spring for fifteen minutes will develop feminine characteristics. After a half hour they will begin turning into a woman, becoming first a hermaphrodite or futanari. By an hour they will completely turn into a woman. It would most certainly be a painful process if not for the aphrodisiac-like qualities of the springs.
Mana Fount
There are places in the Wild where mana contamination is so heavy that it manifests in pockets beneath the earth. It congeals and builds over time until eventually the growing pressure forces it to burst to the surface. Some of the mana is disperse into the air as flecks of light while the rest pools around the spout in the form of glowing liquid, either gold or teal.
Many varieties of fae are attracted to mana founts, coming to drink the fluids. However mages will also come to recharge artifacts and wands or their own supply of magic. They'll sometimes build mana traps over the fount to absorb and store it.
Bubble Trap
An unusual phenomena in the wild, for unknown reasons mana pools or founts will on rare occasion spawn what look like bubbles that float through the air or bounce on the ground. In most cases these are harmless and will pop rather easily but that becomes significantly harder if they are dense with mana.
On these occasions, the bubbles won't pop on contact but will instead envelope whatever fae or person they touch. These bubbles will then either bounce or float around with their unwitting captive or suddenly vacuum seal around them, leaving them trapped in very tight and latex-like prison until something hungry comes along and decides to eat them.
There are some predators that have learned how to create these bubbles and use them to catch prey.
Amber Rain
Every so often, when certain conditions are met, an unusual and very dangerous weather event may occur. A freak storm will appear almost without warning, heralded only by the crackle of magic thunder and flashes prismatic light. Its rain is not heavy but anyone it touches will gradually be coated in viscous substance similar to resin. In some cases it even hardens like amber but even when it doesn't, it's still difficult to move in. Thankfully the process is normally slow so anyone quick can find shelter and escape before it's too late. However, the effects will definitely hasten with prolonged exposure until the unfortunate victim is completely encased. This can be an especially terrifying fate for immortal beings, stuck potentially for eternity. It isn't pleasant for mortal creatures, either, as they will suffocate. The magic within the substance will preserve their bodies perfectly, warding off decay of any kind.
Explorers have documented sites where anywhere from a dozen or more fae have been found frozen in place like statues. All trapped in the amber, some in mid action. Predators have been known to seek out these places, too, as it turns out the substance is edible. In many respects it's like rock candy, lending itself to another name – Candy Rain. Naturally, they need to be certain the storm has petered out before taking action lest they also be trapped.
The exact circumstances that lead to Amber Rain are ill understood but it definitely involves the accumulation of mana within the clouds above some regions in the Sapphic Wild.
Despite the name, it can come in a variety of colors.
Siren's Call
Most commoners will never lay eyes on the Sapphic Wild and some even believe it is nothing more than a fairy tale. As such, rumors and urban legends are frequently circulated. One of the most popular speak of a mysterious phenomena that seems to afflict people at random. Those it takes hold of are said to suddenly feel an intense urge, a drive to go on a journey. They don't know where and they don't know why but they have to. They must. It's as if someone is calling out and they cannot refuse it. Naturally, that destination is the Sapphic Wild. The closer they get to it, the further they fall into a trance until they are little more than a mindless drone driven on instinct alone. Those who fall under this spell, once they cross into the Chaste Mountains, are never seen again. People call it the Siren's Call, the Sapphic Charm, or any number of variations.
There is very little evidence to suggest The Siren's Call is real and most disappearances are merely attributed to kidnappings or runaways. However the stories continue to persist, with some insisting that some malevolent force at the heart of the wild is luring in victims to feed itself. Others have speculated that flares of chaotic magic periodically lash out and that people caught in it are drawn to the wilds. Theories have ranged from some kind of virus or curse to esoteric breeding practices of certain fae species who infect unwitting hosts. It may be that these victims of the Supposed Siren's Call descend from fae kidnapped from the wild and now their blood calls them back. A final possibility is that the clothes they wear belonged to fae or were contaminated with the magic of fae at some point and have thus fallen under some kind of spell.
The final fate of those taken by the call is unknown though it is likely they either become fae themselves or fall victim to any number of predator that lurk throughout. Their only other hope would be to take refuge in one of the city states or settlements should they break free from the enchanting effect.
Braising Cloud
When enough ambient magic accumulates and condenses in a singular point, it can have a dynamic effect. Case in point are Braising Clouds. Also known as Boiler Blooms and Fae Cookers, it is a phenomena where the saturated magic abruptly bursts into reality as a super heated – and nearly invisible – field or gaseous cloud. Anything caught within it is usually almost instantly cooked to a light golden brown. Most fae perish the moment they are caught within it but even those who survive are left exhausted and vulnerable. Either way, they will probably end up as cooked meal for anything that passes by.
The Sapphic Wilds are home to many different kinds of humanoid races with most of which, though not all, being some kind of fae. They come in a wide array of shapes and sizes, from diminutive pixies to the towering Amazons. Some sport wings, some sport tails and some are more anthropomorphic than others. The single most common trait though is that almost all are exclusively female and stunningly gorgeous. No one knows the exact reason why but it's easy to surmise the magic cataclysm had something to do with it.
Not every race or species is sapient, though, and many are more akin to feral beasts in the guise of humanoids. They may look like a human and may even appear to wear clothes but are animals in all but appearance. That they wear clothing at all is astonishing but also frustrating in that it makes distinguishing them apart from more intelligent races harder. Some are still sapient but merely primitive. Others are incredibly smart and choose not to let on. Only through patience and careful observation can the distinctions be discerned.
Common Races
Chell. Not every race brought into the Wild is wholly fantastical or otherwise alien. The humble Chell have more in common with mortal creatures than they do with fae. In fact, biologists have argued they should be put in the clade glires of which rodentia and lagomorphs belong. Chell share qualities of both orders, having tall but pointed ears and long fur-covered tails that modestly puff out toward the tip. Their fur is smooth, silky, and very soft. However some species of Chell share more in common with vulpines and that is reflected by an omnivorous diet compared to their mostly herbivore relatives.
All varieties have demonstrated demi, anthropomorphic, and non-morphic subspecies. Hair, fur, and skin colors come in a multitude of shades. Blue, grey, black, or white are the most common for fur and skin while hair has an even wider range. The heights for demi and anthropomorphic Chell normally average between 5'5” and 6' with members of the Grand Chell species reaching as tall as 6'5”. They are typically curvy, with breast sizes averaging D cup or larger, though they are still very athletic and fast. Breasts develop early and all Chell can lactate after reaching puberty.
Most Chell species are largely feral, though with enough intelligence to navigate the dangers of the wild and proliferate. Some however have developed sapience and live in small, nomadic communities that travel with the seasons in search of food and to avoid major predators. Mating usually happens in the spring and involves a lot of posturing and shoving to establish a kind of dominance. The winners will survey all those who have been cowed into submission – forced onto their backs on the ground – and choose a suitable mate based on any number of factors. The dominant Chell will then mewl at the submissive who will in reflex lift her legs back and expose her womanhood for the other to take.
Chell are quick and very alert as they have many predators. Cats, foxes, wolves, and snakes are naturally top predators but so are large frogs and gryphons. However it is the various kinds of weasel in the Sapphic wild that have come to specialize in hunting them. They have been known to wrestle the typically larger Chell to the ground where the weasel often chokes them out or break their neck.
Humans and elves from the outside also hunt the Chell though, while a savory meal, it has to do with their garments and their fur. Non-morphic Chell have fur softer than even Chinchilla and as such is very desirable. However it's the lingerie of Chell that humans really want. Its quality is exceedingly high and exquisitely soft, especially those of the Royal Blue Chell. Theirs is among the most sought after. Merely touching it against naked skin is enough to send shivers down a woman's spine and bring her close to orgasm.
Sex Vampire. There is a particularly pernicious breed of fae that blend in with populations and feed off them in secret. These are the Sex Vampires and while technically not vampires or even undead, they do share a lot of similar characteristics. They drink blood and have an aversion to sun, although unlike vampires they can walk around in it provided they are clothed. They are also very sensual creatures, more so than their namesake! In fact, they rival Succubi with their rapacious lust. And like Succubi, they can drain the lifeforce of anything they have sex with.
There are only two known types of Sex Vampire, the Elder and Lesser Madonna. The Elder Madonnas are highly intelligent and live within communities called covens. These range from three to twenty individuals and they will attach themselves to larger unsuspecting populations like in the City States. Lesser Madonna are more feral and usually travel alone or in threes. They will join social species that live in large migratory groups, preying on younger members.
Sex Vampires don't breed in the traditional sense and rely instead on turning others into more of their kind through the contamination of their own mana. This is most often achieved through unbirthing the victims they don't kill. The magic will gradually morph them into a Sex Vampire bearing all the characteristics of their original species.
These fae are a parasitic blight but there are a number of ways to deal with them. They have an aversion to certain plants like white chrysanthemum, which will also interfere with their ability to hypnotize others. If forced on them it will sap their strength and eventually cause them to faint. Stripping them in sunlight will also weaken them and if exposed they will cum to death. The same result can be achieved if a silver dildo is used or if a man eats a white chrysanthemum before having sex with one. Unlike real vampires, sex vampires do not dissolve into ash.
Natural predators include certain breeds of dog and larger cats that have learned to sniff them out.
Chatelaine. The Chatelaine are a large, predatory land fae known for being strong and curvaceous. They are very pretty and normally have long, pointed ears like an elf that jut outward from the head. A Chatelaine might easily be mistaken for one if not for how thicc they are and how tall they can get. Most varieties can reach a height of 6' or even 7' tall while their busts can easily surpass DD. Most types of Chatelaine have darker skin save for a few species like the Northern Mistress which has very pale skin. Most Chatelaine wear exquisite lingerie and not much else, clearly proud of their physiques.
While Chatelaine may congregate in groups, they are not strictly speaking a social species of fae. They typically hunt alone or on occasion in pairs and can actually get very territorial. Disputes are settled with lots of posturing and if that fails, they will wrestle until one submits or dies. The winner may rape, eat, and/or take the loser's lingerie for themselves. Occasionally a more dominant Chatelaine will assert its will over a group and guide them to greener pastures. Only the Ioni Chatelaine are truly sapient and they are the most sedentary, living in communities that have taken over ruins. They are exceedingly arrogant and view all others as food.
Mating is also forceful, with a dominant Chatelaine forcing herself on another. The one that submits will typically give birth to anywhere between one and three daughters. The dominant one will however provide them with clothing taken from prey until they are old enough to form their own.
Chatelaine are fierce predators that rely mostly in brute strength to subdue other fae and force them down their mouths. They are surprisingly very stealthy when they desire. Some varieties do have poisonous lipstick or venemous bites but these aren't usually strong and will only weaken the prey long enough to eat them.
Chatelaine don't have too many natural predators save the fierce Shade Panther and certain types of lamia.
Damsel Fae. One of the largest families of common land fae are the Damsels. All members take on a humanoid appearance with some sporting long, pointed ears. They generally have lithe builds and busts that range from A or B to D cup with sufficiently nourished specimens sporting as large as E cup. Average heights range from 4'5” to 5'11”. Skin comes in a myriad of colors ranging from pale to dark brown. Hair colors vary wildly with some species having two or more.
Above average intelligence is not a common quality of the Damsel Fae and most lack anything hinting at sapience. They meander through the Sapphic Wilds, foraging where they can and seeking shelter in glades and warrens. While some are solitary in nature, many varieties are social creatures that move in small groups that are commonly called “tea parties” or “circles”. Damsel Fae can be trained and as such are often taken by humans to be used as laborers, servants, or pets. They are also taken as lovers and mistresses on account of their relatively tame, if skittish, nature. More sapient varieties may even learn to talk and write the common tongue. All that is required to feed a Damsel is sugary treats or pastries. They subsist on sugar and nectar or honey in the wild and will also eat certain plants or fungi.
Damsel Fae are relatively low on the food chain and so have evolved a number of ways to avoid predators. Camouflage or glamour are common methods, allowing them to blend in and hide from predators. Some Damsel Fae wear bright colors, though, indicating that they or their clothing may in fact be poisonous. If all else fails, they can rely on their tremendous speed and agility to elude pursuers. Many varieties of plants and animals prey on Damsels including Chatelaine, Shade Panthers, Invisible Haunters, and many others.
Known examples include:
Bandit Damsel, a sneaky and inquisitive type of fae that are known to steal the clothes of others. They lack the means to create their own. Specialized predators will leave out articles of clothes to bait them out before attacking.
Flower Damsels, a colorful type of fae with many subspecies or variants that range in size. Their diet consists solely of fruits, flowers, and the nectar they give. They wear colorful and lacy dresses often decorated with flowers.
Harem Damsels, a communal type of nomadic fae that travel in groups. They live primarily in the jungles and deserts. They wear mostly Arabian or Romani-styled clothing.
Motherly Maiden, colloquially known as a Milf Maiden. Among the tallest and curviest of Damsel Fae. As the name suggests, they are affectionate and nurturing to their young. They have even been observed caring for the offspring of other species. Humans sometimes tame them to be used as wet nurses.
Glamour Damsel, a rare type of Damsel that is obsessed with anything shiny or glitzy. They wear little in the way of clothes, usually, and instead adorn themselves in jewelry. As a defense, they are known to use illusory magic.
Widowing Damsel, a sinister member of the Damsel family. During reproduction, a Widowing Damsel will fall upon another fae to snuff or paralyze her. She will then unbirth her unfortunate victim, converting her body into mana that is used to birth new Widowing Damsels.
Bane Damsel, often wears colorful and lacy lingerie to ward off predators. They are highly poisonous and even a lick in the wrong place is enough to make a large predator deathly sick. Curiously, if vigorously brought to climax, they lose their poisonous qualities for a short time.
Bunny Mimic. Mimicry is a common adaptation in nature and one of the best examples – as well as unusual – is the Bunny Mimic. Also known as False Bunnies, they imitate rabbit demi and anthro fae through sporting fake bunny ears and sometimes tails. This seemingly simple trick is nevertheless somehow effective in deceiving other denizens in the wilds, notably the ones they are mimicking. Most varieties also wear either leotards or body suits that come in a multitude of colors, high heels, and usually some kind of hosiery.
While the Bunny Mimic family isn't notable for its intelligence, they are on the whole much smarter than true rabbit girls. This allows them to more easily integrate into the communal warrens of those they imitate. While not technically social, they will sometimes work together and some species will assist the bunny girls they've attached themselves to. This is not always the case however!
The mimicry isn't done to ward off or deceive predators but to allow Bunny Mimics to engage in a kind of parasitic relationship. In the most benign examples, it simply so they can find shelter in the holes and dens of true rabbit girls for shelter. However, more often it's so they can also steal food and in the most sinister examples it allows certain kinds of Bunny Mimics to feed on the young of true bunnies.
Because they do not have a very intimidating visage, Bunny mimics have a lot of natural predators of which many overlap with true rabbit girls. Snakes, fox girls, weasels, and more. Certain species of Bunny Mimics are hunted solely for their clothing as it's said that anyone who sports this type will become timid and obedient. Even the fiercest Amazon will become docile if made to wear these bunny suits. It is therefor incredibly popular with brothels and slavers.
Known Examples Include:
Paramour Bunny Mimic, a type of bunny mimic that relies on true bunny girls to mate. Interestingly, if it mates with women from other races, they will also give birth to Paramour Bunny Mimics.
Rapacious False Rabbit, a predatory mimic. One of the larger species. It will imitate a bunny girl in heat to lure and seduce hopeful mates who it will then eat.
Trapper Bunny Mimic, also known as the “Bunny Trap” or “Bunny Eater Eater”. Masquerades as a Bunny Girl to lure in would-be predators which it preys on.
True Bunny Fae. Members of the True Bunny family of land fae are by far one of the most abundant, rivaling even the Damsel Fae. They are found in almost every corner of the Sapphic Wilds and their populations are usually very dense. They come in all different shapes and sizes with just as many hair and skin or fur colors. The only important thing that distinguishes them from mundane demi girls, beast kin, or lagomorphs is the significant fae blood and magic that courses through their bodies.
There are hundreds of known species, at least half of which are feral and lacking any kind of sapience. Partly because of this, they have developed a reputation of being dullards or dumb. Too stupid to live. However, this is neither a fair or accurate assessment as some species are actually very cunning. Dangerously so. That said, most varieties sit somewhere in the middle. A lot of species are at least somewhat social and may congregate in small groups. Some of the most intelligent form clans and even build cities or settlements. Those on the other end of the spectrum either hide in the tall grass or dig out burrows to live in, either by themselves or with small family units.
Mating is highly dependent on the species. Practically every other kind has their own way of going about it. Some mate year round while others stick to particular seasons. Some mate for life while others are very promiscuous. A not insignificant number of species participate in madcap orgies that sometimes last hours or even days. For some, going into heat is so intense that they are driven into frenzies and will try to mate with anything, even fae of other species or inanimate objects.
Being very common and relatively easy to capture, they are often targeted by slavers. Depending on the species, they most often end up in the sex trade or as house servants though they are also served as delicacies in far off lands. The sapient varieties are most sought after but also the hardest to capture. Most live behind fortified walls and use bronze or iron weapons to fend off intruders, forcing slavers to pick off stragglers that stray too far from their communities.
Despite their reputation, True Bunny Fae do have various strategies to ensure their survival. Chief among these is simply their high fecundity. Most species produce a lot of young, ensuring at least some reach adulthood. Many species have powerful legs that allow them to achieve great speeds and agility, if only for a short duration, allowing them a chance to escape predators. Or, failing that, they can furiously kick a pursuer. Bunny girls wearing heels can therefor turn their shoes into deadly stabbing weapons. Camouflage is also frequently utilized. More surprising is that some even employ poisons. Several species and subspecies are noted as being capable of magic both defensively and offensively, making them quite formidable.
And they need all these means as True Bunny Fae, with a few exceptions, are at the very bottom of the food chain. Just about every plant, animal, and predatory fae will prey on them.
Known examples include:
The Femme Fatale Lapine, a very beautiful but also dangerous type of bunny fae with at least a dozen subspecies. Due to the commonality of rape in the sapphic wilds, and its use by predators, Femme Fatale Lapines have developed a particularly nasty defense – their vaginas produce a magic poison. Anything that tries to lick or otherwise penetrate it, besides other lapine, will be poisoned. The potency of which depends on the subspecies, with one possessing such a potent toxin that a would-be rapist or predator cums themselves to death.
The Playful Bunny Fae, one of the more common species of Bunny Fae. Typically voluptuous and dressed in bunny suits, only their ears and tails are real.
The Wolfhound Rabbit, a rare example of a predatory species of True Bunny Fae. Typically taller than other varieties and usually muscular. Their ears are a little pointier, too. They are sometimes mistaken for Chell. Most subspecies rely on strength and speed to subdue prey.
Black Rabbit, a very rare species. So rare that some scholars believe it doesn't exist or is on the verge of extinction. Others believe it isn't a unique species but a mutation. Highly sought after by slavers and gourmands as they are said to be incredibly beautiful and also very delicious. Not only that but legends state that anyone who captures or eats one will be blessed with incredible fortune or magical powers. What they look like is a point of contention and they are often confused with bunny fae of other species who are either black or wear black.
Lunar Rabbits, nearly just as rare and just as sought after. Their elegance and beauty is rivaled only by their cunning and arrogance. Most subspecies wield magic and are adorned in gossamer dresses. They have few natural predators and are very elusive.
Devil Fae. When the magic calamity happened, it wasn't just fae that were introduced into the ecosystem. Demonic corruption also took place, affecting some species in unpredictable ways. It's believed that Devil Fae are one such outcome, an amalgamation of the two distinct bloodlines. As such, they exhibit traits of both fae and true demons. They come in a variety of sizes and colors, though almost all species are endowed with generous busts and curves. The heights of different species range from a mere 4' to an imposing 7'. Most sport horns of some kind though a few varieties have miniature wings instead. Like real devils, they have tails with spade tips. Skin and hair colors may vary even within the same species. Blue or red skin is not unheard of as are hair colors all across the spectrum. One trait that all Devil Fae share, though, is a penchant for mischief or malevolence. They enjoy toying with others, especially their prey.
Even feral species in the Devil Fae family, of which there are many, possess a sinister intelligence which they put to good use. While some are solitary, others work in small groups to achieve mutual aims. That said, dominance is fluid and treachery is common as each member vies for the control of their circle. This is true of both feral and sapient species. How it's decided is what usually distinguishes each. It may be settled with the flaunting of their curvaceous bodies or the extravagance of their horns. It may even be decided with pushing and shoving or wrestling. The Eastern Oni Devil Fae are known to compete for leadership by seeing who can capture the most prey. Mating is likewise settled in similar fashion for many varieties, though a few particularly evil breeds will corrupt others into more of their own kind.
In the hunt, Devil Fae generally enjoy a respectable strength advantage. Even without it, though, most species have formidable mind control they can use on the weak willed or vulnerable. However it usually involves looking in the eyes of their prey at a short distance or whispering into their ears. They may also possess the ability to sap stamina from anyone they touch. As with many families of fae, there are also species with poisonous lipstick or venomous bites.
Despite how formidable they may be, they are not without predators. The smaller species especially have much to fear, even from their own kind. Shade Panthers, large snakes, spiders, and anything else that typically preys on large land fae will prey on them. Mortal adventurers may use holy symbols or objects to ward them off or subdue them.
Known Examples Include:
Ogre Eater, a large and imposing type of devil fae that exclusively eats other devil fae and true demons. It is highly resistant to hypnosis and mind conrol of lesser demons. It is however susceptible to Noble Succubi. Relies on brute strength and magic resistance to subdue its prey, of which it especially enjoys lesser succubi for all the lust they accumulate.
Regal Devil, the most elegant and beautiful of Devil Fae. They are as beautiful and proud as they are arrogant and evil. They strut around in luxurious underwear and platform heels, lording over other fae. They rely on using their mesmerizing beauty to ensorcell potential prey who they will either drain the life of or eat whole.
Common Imp, one of the most numerous of Devil Fae. Cowardly, mischievous, and conniving. They will flee from anything they view as too threatening or try to ingratiate themselves with sexual favors. If allowed, though, they will attempt to drain their victim's strength.
Flayer Devil, the name is not quite literal. Rather than skin its victims, it merely strips them of the clothing it likes and dons the garments. It leads to occasions where the flayer devil may wear an eclectic ensemble.
Witch Fae. There are some things in the wild that don't fit neatly into any one category. Witch Fae are an example of this, defying normal conventions of taxonomy. Scholars aren't even sure if they are their own race or some kind of affliction that affect other races. Some suspect it's a type of phenomena like a curse or else induced by a magically corrupted virus.
Part of this confusion stems from how Witch Fae born. They seem to manifest spontaneously among populations of other races, individuals seemingly transforming overnight to become Witch Fae. In some cases that is actually true! These are likely the result of previously dormant genes and magic suddenly activating in a kind of apotheosis, transforming the unaware host into a Witch Fae. It's not known if this is made possible by a freak occurrence that can happen to anyone or if some forebear had unknowingly mated with a Witch Fae at some stage in the family tree. The trigger is not understood, either, though it's suspected to be tied to puberty. The other main theory is that Witch Fae will infect a host directly, either through sex or tricking the host into wearing clothes imbued with magic. The transformation seems to afflict mostly sapient races, usually mortals like humans but it has also been observed in kinds of Elves. As a consequence, most Witch Fae are also sapient and intelligent. Though Feral fae gaining sapience through this transformation has been observed as well as the opposite.
However it happens, the transformation changes a girl in several ways. In most cases, she will manifest garments not unlike those of the stereotypical witch, though usually more ornate or opulent. Hair and eye color may change as well while physical flaws melt away. She will essentially receive a glow up. Personality-wise, she may become more promiscuous or even more sinister though that might depend on the type of Witch Fae they have become.
Unlike the standard witch, which is normally like a profession, Witch Fae do not learn magic. They instead inherit a single type of magic, spell, or ability. They will have a natural understanding of how to use it and its power will grow with time and experience. Witch Fae also either gain the ability to eat a person whole, to drain their mana to feed, or both.
They will need that ability, too, as they face all manner of danger. Like normal witches, they face a lot of persecution. Understandable since some Witch Fae are quite evil. Witch Fae that are caught are usually hung. As with Sex Vampires, there are special breeds of canine that are natural predators of Witch Fae.
Equine Fae. Found throughout the Sapphic Wild, Equines are a diverse family of fae that encompass over a hundred different species. These are separated into four distinct categories – Horse girl, Unicorn, Pegasus, and Alicorn. Horse Girls are the most numerous, with demi varieties sharing only the tail and ears of their non-anthropomorphic cousins. Unicorns by contrast also have a single horn, often imbued with magic, while Pegasi instead sport wings. Alicorns, also known as Winged Unicorns and less often as Pegacorns (a term that sentient species find offensive), sport both wings and a horn and are the rarest type with less than a dozen species. Hair, fur, skin, and eye color is highly dependent on the species as are height and physique.
Most species of Equine fae are social animals and many possess at least a modest level of intelligence. Like normal horses, they usually operate in family units with the lead mare – or Matriarch – always moving at the forefront. The most social species travel in herds of up to fifty or more members and may have anywhere from two to five matriarchs. There are more solitary species, though even these can be social. Only a handful are extremely territorial. The Sapient species do not normally build settlements, though some do exist, and are instead nomadic.
Humans, especially from the outside world, have taken a keen interest in Equines. They are much easier to tame and train than most wild fae due to their social nature, even temperament, and above average intelligence. Though it's impractical to ride an Equine like normal horses, for obvious reasons, their strength and endurance allows them to pull wagons or carry heavy loads over long distances. This makes them ideally suited for heavy labor and transportation. Equines are also stunningly beautiful so it's not uncommon to see them as house servants or included in harems. Many species, even those that are more feral, can be taught to speak so they can become closer companions. Where they really shine, though, is in entertainment. The horse show formula has very recently been adapted for Equine Fae, seeing them compete in various events like races and showmanship. Most events are very regal but some can be borderline indecent and humiliating. Some, though, use the Equines as livestock. Their milk is said to be very nutritious and also very delicious.
While anything larger than an Equine will make a quick meal of them, they surprisingly have few natural predators. Their keen senses usually warn them of approaching danger. Their speed allows them to escape very quickly. Their strength, when all else fails, is enough to threaten any predator. They have powerful bodies with even the smallest waif and curvaceous milfs hide magically empowered muscles. That said, they are susceptible to ambush and guile. Most species lack any other means of defense, too, so something stronger and/or faster will be certain to overpower them.
Elementals. When the ancient magic that caused the calamity ran rampant, it didn't just affect the flora and fauna. It permeated through the wind, the water, the earth, and even fire. Even the light and shadow were saturated with its influence. Magic itself was changed forever and as a result fae forever became a part of the ecosystems of the Sapphic Wilds. One aspect of this is the proliferation of elemental spirits, the living embodiment of the natural world's splendor. And sometimes not-so-natural. They, like everything else, have adapted to this new normal.
The elementals of the Sapphic Wild are incredibly diverse. Quite possibly one of the most diverse families found throughout. They truly can come in any shape and size with some made of pure elemental magic while others are far more tangible. They may take on the shape of floating wisps or large, tumultuous masses of energy. Of course, here they also appear as beautiful women and girls. Heights generally range from a mere 5” to a commanding 7'. When dressed, their attire often reflects in some way the element they embody in color or motif though this is not universally true. So to may their skin, eye, and hair color. In fact, in some the shape of their pupils reflect what they represent.
The minds of elementals are sometimes hard to understand or are even alien. Some are feral in nature. Animals in the shape of people even as they wear clothes and strut around. Some behave more like forces of nature, manifestations of storms and earthquakes or cyclones. Then there are some who possess intelligence closer to humans or even transcend that. Disposition is likewise complicated. While some behave in ways befitting their element, others may be the exact opposite. Such as lazy fire elemental or an ice elemental that is chipper and kind. Scholars aren't sure if this is unique to specific species or indicative of all elementals. It's difficult to tell because physical differences between species can sometimes be incredibly subtle or minute. Different species of the same element may also mingle, further compounding the challenge of identifying them. And while some individuals may be highly social, others can introverted or downright territorial. It is not currently known if there are any settlements or communities formed by elementals though there are rumors suggesting they do exist.
Then there are the myriad type of elementals. Categorizing them has proven challenging because they don't seem to adhere to any specific conceptual scheme or classical understanding. There are Earth, Fire, Air, and Water elementals as observed in the West. There are also Metal and Wood elementals as observed in the East. On top of them are Light, Dark, and Void or Aether elementals. Muddling things even further are the presence of those who are a combination, like storm elementals which may encompass wind and water or lightning. And there are still many more types after that like ice, shadow, and thunder. Regardless of what they represent, they can at least be roughly divided into three levels based on maturity or the density of their magic – Lesser, Greater, and Elder. Lesser and Greater are the most common with Greater being slightly rarer. Elder Elementals are so rare that some believe them to only exist hypothetically.
Breeding is another complicated matter. Some types of elementals do breed in more traditional ways, copulating with each other. There are elementals that engage in vigorous orgies that may influence the weather or even cause natural disasters. Some elementals just seem to manifest out of thin air or in places of dense magic where their element is most prevalent. Other elementalss come about through different esoteric and potentially sinister methods, such as transforming other races into new members of their species. There have been at least a few documented cases where normal humans were afflicted with some kind of virus or curse that eventually transformed them, changing them somewhat or completely.
It might seem that elementals have nothing to fear, being raw forces of nature, but that is unfornately – for them at least – not the case. It's precisely because they are so rich in magic and spiritual energy that they are sought after by many different types of predators and even people. There are some kingdoms who use them to power magitech or fuel magical instruments while certain types of mages actually eat elementals to gain or recharge their powers. Their greatest predators tend to be eldritch, demonic, or abyssal in nature as well as aberrations. There are still mundane flora and fauna that prey on them, though.
Papillon. Insect wings have long been associated with fairies so it's not surprising there are many different races who are blessed with them. Among these fae are the family of Papillon which includes both butterfly and moth girls. What distinguishes them is their size with most Papillon averaging between 5'5” and 5'8”, though there are species as small as common house cats. Their breasts can get as large as DD cup, too, and can lactate unlike other similar families. Papillon are almost always adorned in fine dresses or at minimum luxurious lingerie. Their wings can come in all different colors and patterns with Butterflies having more vibrant displays while Moths are usually more dull. These qualities have led some scholars to speculate Papillon may be a kind of hybrid between Damsels and some type of Pixie. At the very least, there's reason enough to believe they may be closely related.
It's therefor also not surprising that many Papillon are feral in mind if not in body. Their only concerns being to flit about in search of nectar, fruits, or sugary delights. When they aren't thinking with their tummies, it's with their loins as they search for others to mate with. Most species are very promiscuous and orgies are not uncommon for some species. They sometimes even take place in the sky while flying, letting their fae 'honey' rain down. Yet they manage to maintain a regal air in everything they do in spite of this behavior. Even the sluttiest Papillon demonstrates grace and beauty that surpasses what mortals are normally capable of. There are however at least a dozen species who have mental acuity comparable to humans. Most of these have no compunction in showing it, either.
Papillon may act as a keystone species in some regions of the Sapphic Wild. They are major pollinators for many kinds of flowers, even some carnivorous plants. They are are also at the bottom of the food web and many different predators feed on them. There are predators who actually rely almost entirely on them as a food source like certain types of spider. That's not to say Papillon are entirely defenseless. Some have limited forms of magic while others produce toxic clouds or adorn themselves in clothes that are poisonous for other species to touch.
Known examples include:
Sylvan Papillon, an intelligent and social type of Papillon. Often live in small, close-knit communities in forests.
Crested Hawkmoth, a rare predatory species of Papillon with moth wings. Though large, they rely more on their poisons to subdue prey.
Silkweaver Moth, a type of Moth Papillon that produces silk which it uses to make clothes for itself and other fae.
Belladonna Butterfly, a Papillon with butterfly wings that adorn themselves in poisonous clothes and makeup. Some subspecies can even release clouds of poisonous powder in self-defense, the strongest of which can cause would-be predators to writhe and even come to death.
Hummingbird Papillon, derogatorily referred to as Flower Fuckers. They get this name from their dependency on flowers for shelter, sustenance, and clothing. By grinding against the stamen, they cover themselves in nectar and pollen which they use their magic to turn into lingerie. Sometimes the petals are also incorporated to create dresses.
Mer. It isn't just the land that teams with supernatural life. The ocean, lakes, and rivers are home to a variety of races. Included among them are various types of mer who have thrived in this new climate caused by the magical catastrophe. There are two main groups in the Sapphic Wilds, specifically those with human legs and those with fish-like lower bodies though many species share the ability to switch between these physiological states through magic or some other means. Almost all have fins or flippers in place of or in addition to human ears while some legged mer also have fish-like tails. There may be other types, too, but they are much less common. Hair colors come in every shade though blues, greens, and anything in between are most common. Legged mer usually reach heights between 5'4 and 5'11 but some species can get taller than that while some more traditional mer can easily double that in overall length.
The Mer family are among the most socially diverse and many species possess some level of sapience. It allows them to form more complex social or familial structures with a number of species living in pods that work together to survive. Even less social species may form schools for mutual protection if nothing else. The most intelligent mer form communities and there are even reports of small kingdoms built under the waves. It is believed they make their homes in the various submerged ruins off the Glistening Coast. Even predatory mer may work in schools or at least pairs. That said, there are still solitary species who prefer to keep to themselves until it comes time to find a mate.
When it does come time to breed, most mer behave more like mammals than fish. They copulate and give live birth rather than releasing eggs and sperm. This usually takes place after courting displays or fierce competition. Some mer are more forceful, though, and will rape each other and any unlucky fae that falls into the water while they're in heat. Most mer will nurse and care for their young until they're old enough to fend for themselves, especially for the more civilized species, but there are some that leave their young to fend for themselves. This is especially true of more predatory species. Polyamory is quite common but monogamy is not unheard of.
Mer are generally omnivorous and, depending on the species, will eat anything including each other. Many subsist on 'normal' fish and aquatic vegetation, however. Some attack larger animals like seals and penguins while others prey solely on other fae. Electricity, poison, and venom are common methods of subduing prey but not all species make use of these. Some make use of sound and sonar while others utilize ice magic or generate intense heat to cook their prey into submission. Some of these methods are also used in defense.
Mer have many natural predators including other types of mer. Large birds such as Giga Pelicans and Sea Roc represent a major threat while Gryphons that nest near the coast often prey on them as well. Mega Fauna like Leviathans, certain types of whale, Giant Sea Anemone, a myriad of Jellyfish spieces are just a handful of other dangers that Mer constantly have to look out for. Even humans will hunt mer as exotic delicacies, as attractions, or as slaves. Fishing nets, specifically trawling, are difficult for the unwary to escape.
Known examples include:
Emerald Vampire Mer, a type of mer that preys on other species. While they do drink blood, they may also consume milk or cum and they will drain every drop to absorb their victim's mana. So named for the emeralds that may be attached to just above the chest or on their forehead rather than any coloration of skin or hair. The emeralds may be removed on death without damaging the skin of the Emerald Vampire.
Siren Mer, similar to sirens native elsewhere. They use the power of song and sound to subdue their prey. Unlike normal sirens, they will prey on fae and other mer. Some subspecies even imitate the mating songs of others to lure them in.
Evening Songstress Mer, a closely related species to Siren Mer. Unlike their cousins, they are not predatory. They instead love to sing for the sake of singing and adorn themselves in silk finery as well as precious metals.
Great Lightning Mer, a voracious type of mer with the lower body of a shark. Uses electricity to attack prey before consumption.
Cinderella Mer, a type of unusual transforming mer. Originally thought to humans using sorcery, they are in fact fae who use magical sheaths or skirts to 'transform' their lower bodies. Without it they cannot transform. Cinderella Mer can make a new garment but it will take time and magic.
Dragon Mer, likely not related to actual dragons. They nevertheless have a faint resemblance, physically if not in temperament and power.
Cat Girl. Few races are as ubiquitous as the cat girl. They are among the most diverse groups with almost as many varieties as there are people, ranging from demi humans to more anthropomorphic species. Skin, hair, fur, and eye colors come in a wide range and may come in different patterns. Stripes are not uncommon and neither are multi-tone or blotches. While most Cat girls on average share similar measurements to humans, some species may get as tall as 7' or as short as 4'. Some varieties have lithe or athletic builds and their busts rarely surpass B or C cup but there are just as many who grow quite a bit bigger and have curvier bodies.
Cat girls also have many intelligent subspecies, among the most of any fae race. Some of these form communities, enjoying nomadic lifestyles or living in settlements. Ko'Nui Cat girls of the southern Jungles live in treetop villages connected by rope bridges, for example, while the Gold Hairs range the amber plains and Broken wastes. A lot of subspecies are still feral, however, though even then some are quite social. These fae usually move in family units called “prides” which can have as many as thirty members. Some types of cat girls are solitary or territorial and may attack intruders regardless of species, even if they are larger. Others may simply hide or flee depending on circumstances.
Mating practices are as diverse as the Cat Girl race. Some are monogamous and won't mate with anyone else even if their partner passes while other subspecies are incredibly promiscuous, possibly having multiple partners when in heat. Certain cat girls need very specific conditions and might only mate once a year but there are cat girls who will mate any time they encounter another of their own species. Winning a mate can be a highly ritualized affair with posturing and elaborate dances or can be as simple as presenting captured prey. Competition isn't unheard of, either, and may vary between the species with some being more violent or aggressive than others. Shoving may give way to biting and clawing or throwing each other's weight around.
Another popular target with slavers, Cat Girls are frequently captured by the major polities in the Sapphic Wild as well as outsiders. While they are very popular with the sex trade, they are also prized by professions who value their stealthy abilities and agility like assassins or spies. Cat girls make incredible thieves, too, given enough training. Even feral subspecies can be taught these roles, though it may require more patience and time.
Those same qualities are also very important for hunt. Most cat girls are ambush predators and will sneak up on unsuspecting prey until they are close enough to strike, pouncing before the prey has any chance to react. Powerful jaws and hands – or paws – are used to subdue their prey, either targeting the fae themselves or their garments. Panties and brassieres are easily turned aside, humbling fae girls for a followup attack, if the cat girl doesn't go straight for a finishing blow. These are often delivered to the neck, either through snapping or strangulation with the latter usually preferred by huntresses who want their prey alive and wriggling. Other more unusual methods, though rare, have been observed with some species even using toxins. When ambushing isn't enough, though, it may come down to a contest of speed. Spotted Catgirls, fleet of foot and agile, are renowned for their ability to chase down their victims. They are incredibly fast even without their magic heels.
When it comes to what they eat, Cat Girls are unabashed omnivores and generalists. They often prey on many different races like Bunny Girls or Chell but others may specialize in more exotic prey. The Black-Footed Cat Girl typically hunt flying fae with the Regal Black-Foot subspecies even pursuing mainly Swan Maidens. Rodent Fae and Damsel Fae also make up a significant part of their diet.
Of course, while being rapacious predators, they are hardly at the top of the food web. They have just as many predators as types of prey, ranging from canids and snakes to even other breeds of cat girl. Anything that can overpower their speed and strength is likely capable of making a meal of them. There are a handful of exceptions, though; a handful of species who're fierce or powerful enough to ward off all but the most dangerous monsters.
Known examples include:
The Shade Panthera, a distant relative of the fearsome non-anthropomorphic Shade Panthers. They come in both Demi and Anthro forms and are almost as deadly.
Venenum Catgirl, a broad family of cat girl known to produce toxins. Different subspecies may use them defensively, offensively, or both. They may be applied via tongue, fangs, or in some cases with finger and toenails. Most varieties paralyze their prey while others cause their victims to cum to death.
Dragonslayer Catgirl, a very rare species that specializes in hunting flightless lesser dragon girls. They rely almost entirely on ambush, attacking from blind spots lest they face the full fury of their prey. Some subspecies use more esoteric methods.
Royal Neko, an incredibly rare breed. They are distinguished by their lavish kimonos or yukata – which come in many different styles – and luxurious accessories. Most subspecies sport two or more tails.
Canis Girl. The Canis family of fae includes dozens of extant species which are themselves broken up into more subspecies. This makes them one of the largest and most pervasive races in the Sapphic Wild with examples found in practically every climate. Dog girls and wolf girls are some of the most common species, though there are jackal and coyote girls as well. Being such a diverse group, heights and builds can vary wildly though 5' to 6' is the average. The largest wolf girls can exceed 7', however. Fur and hair tend to lean toward earthen colors though more unusual shades like pink or blue have also been observed. Multi-toned hair and fur is also not unheard of. Eye colors are more varied with amber, green, silver, and blue being the norm. Canis girls also come in demi and anthro varieties as well as anything inbetween.
Like cat girls, an abnormally high percentage of species in the Canis family possess some level of intelligence or sapience. Of these, most are primitive when compared to human civilizations though some have still formed complex social groups. The most advanced of them have even built villages in the Wild. These are protected by stout walls and brave warriors wielding weapons of bronze, iron, or whatever is available. Even more feral species still display some kind of social behavior, many living as part of “packs” comprising anywhere between two and fifteen individuals. Only a handful are truly solitary in nature.
While mating rituals vary across the Canis family, there are some commonalities. In more social species, the dominant members often have prerogative. They might have first choice when not monogamous or dictate who and when others may breed. There may also be trials to earn the right to mate, ranging from hunting contests to marathons and sparring. More solitary or feral Canis may simply resort to contests of strength, driving off rivals and forcing partners to submit. This can lead to accidental crossbreeding on occasion, notably when a Canis girl is deep in heat and a close relative is nearby.
One of the most highly sought after types of fae, Canis girls are valued for their strength and beauty as well as their loyalty. It is because of these traits that they end up as mercenaries, bodyguards, and gladiators just as often as sex slaves. When they bond with their master, some species will almost certainly lay down their lives should the need arise. At the very least, they will confront insurmountable odds or submit themselves to any indignity.
Many Canis girls hunt in the same way for prey – by using strength of numbers and violence of action to humble their prey. However, intelligent species use a higher level of coordination and strategy than their more feral cousins. They might use tools to assist them or even traps, though both feral and intelligent species may also have unnatural abilities like magic or venomous bites. The Western Love Hound has a poisonous saliva delivered via its tongue to the snatches or mouths of their preferred prey, inducing paralysis or even a climatic end. For those species without any unique gifts, it's not unheard of for them to use submission holds or throws to lay their prey low.
Most Canis girls are carnivorous or are at least omnivores, preferring other fae as their diet. They will pursue Cat girls, Chell, Bunny girls, and just about anything beneath them on the food web. A scant few could be described as herbivores, preferring fruits and vegetables or fungi to meat. Even then they may supplement their diet with the occasional fae.
While dominant predators, they are not always at the apex and will fall prey to any number of races or flora and fauna. On occasion, they may even fall prey to large cat girls or other breeds of Canis. Dragons, gryphons, and other large monsters remain a constant threat to Canis settlements.
Known examples include:
Warp Houndess, a cousin to the non-anthropomorphic Warp Hounds. They share the same ability to teleport either themselves or foreign objects with some subspecies also having the ability to warp prey into their mouths or stomachs.
Fenrisian Wolfess, proud and civilized. They live in communities that strictly abide by caste systems. Their warriors are respected throughout the Sapphic Wild.
Eastern Regal Jackal, a regal breed that adorns themselves in loose silk and golden jewelry.
Sovereign Wolfess, sometimes known as Nine Tailed Wolfesses. They may sport multiple tails like their vulpine cousins and weave spells. One of the rarest breeds of Canis girls.
Rare Races
Swan Maiden. Of all the denizens in the Sapphic Wild, the Swan Maidens are among the most regal. Named for the legends of old, their grace and elegance is nearly unrivaled. There are dozens of species and most of them dress in gowns or lingerie of the highest quality. Most also sport or can sprout feathered wings with a few having more than one pair. They appear as humanoid or elvish and could easily blend in if not for their stunning beauty. Skin and hair colors vary dramatically as do makeup. Dresses and leotards typically come in white, pink, and black but blue and red are also common and other colors are not unheard of. Feathers will usually, though not always, match the colors of their dresses. Footwear include pointe shoes, ballet slippers, and pumps that likewise coordinate with their ensemble.
Gauging the sapience of Swan Maidens is difficult. Many varieties do at least appear feral but there are species who merely choose not to speak or interact with anyone outside their own race. They also tend to keep their distance, though younger members do display curiosity. Swan Maidens can also come off as proud or arrogant and even feral ones may appear to look down their nose at less beautiful fae. Of the sapient types, it is known that some live in sedentary communities on islands in the middle of lakes or on hills and cliffs. Places not easily reached. Rather than mud huts or dirty hovels, their domiciles are small marble villas. How they are built isn't entirely clear though magic is certainly involved. It's entirely possible trade with the city states in the Sapphic Wild or people they have enthralled with glamour to build for them.
Swan Maidens are very elusive and will always try to keep their distance, staying just out of reach of others. If something disturbs them, they will just fly away. Otherwise Swan Maidens spend a lot of time dancing through the sky or on a lake's surface away from the shore. In the evenings Swan Maiden will often find hot springs to relax and flirt with each other. When angry or distressed they will hiss at the offender until driven off or they are forced to flee. While escape is always preferred, anyone approaching them should be careful as Swan Maidens have a shockingly powerful kick and a nasty bite. Some species can even put curses on people.
Because of their speed and flight, there aren't many predators that have an easy time catching them. Dragons and gryphons are some of the few beasts that make the effort. Ambush predators like frogs or chameleons and certain kinds of plants have been observed feeding on Swan maidens. Surprisingly fish also rank up there as major predators, often striking from below as the Swan Maiden strides across the water's surface.
Known examples include:
The Common Cygnus, identified by their typically plain leotards and small wings. The most numerous and easily caught.
The Lilliputian Cygnus, among the smallest of the Swan Maidens. They are about the size of normal swans and come in a variety of subspecies that may mimic their larger counterparts.
Royal Moon Swan Maiden, a nocturnal race. Often wear white, blue, or silver dresses and flowing sashes, usually of eastern styles. They have an ethereal grace to them as they dance in front of the moon.
The Harrier Swan Maiden, one of the few predatory types. Usually preys on smaller fae but will subsist on non-morphic fauna if necessary. Harriers swoop down on prey and use their powerful legs to kick into submission their prey, at least long enough to give a poisoned kiss.
Deux Cygnus, an unusual and uncommon type of Swan Maiden. Members of the Deux either wear black or white leotards and tutus. While technically monogender, it would seem those wearing white will only mate with those wearing black and those wearing black will only mate with those wearing white. Competition for mates is fierce.
Jezebel Cygnus, a type of Swan Maiden that forgoes the fineries of their regal kindred and instead opt to leave as little to the imagination as possible. While not as graceful, they are endowed with some of the largest chests in the Swan Maiden family.
Phoenix Swan Maiden, a very rare breed. They are identified by their luxurious dresses that are usually fiery red and gold and their radiant wings which can be conjured or dispelled as needed. They are notable for being incredibly difficult to subdue and even eat. If killed by regular means or swallowed up before taking appropriate measures, they will simply dissolve into unfulfilling ash and appear elsewhere. They must be sexecuted or sealed before eating to truly snuff them out.
Imperial Swan Maiden, the most majestic of all their kind. They don't just wear dresses; they are adorned with the finest garments woven from their own resplendent magic. Each is a work of art, molded by and unique to its wearer. They have anywhere from one to three pairs of wings and will have another smaller pair on the sides of their heads. For their clothes and wings, silver and white are most common though gold, especially embroidery or lace, does appear frequently. Other colors are known to appear with black being the rarest.
Fox Girls. There are numerous varieties of fox girl and many of them are dangerous. Most will have some kind of illusory magic or glamour that they use to deceive enemies and prey alike. Some even wield ethereal flames that can hurt whoever they want. They are not normally social animals and can get very territorial with each other. Even the more intelligent of their kind will patrol their territory to drive off rivals.
Fox girls come in all shapes and sizes but all naturally share at least two defining qualities. They have fox ears and will have at least one fox tail. Some varieties have multiple tails or can obtain more through various means. While lesser fox girls dress in plain clothes, others adorn themselves in fine drapery of western or eastern style. Usually the latter. Exquisite sandals or lavish heels are all they'll allow on their feet. If they wear shoes at all. Anthropomorphic fox girls are less likely to.
They are another race that's difficult to gauge or interact with. They are usually uncommunicative, elusive, and solitary. At most they've been observed living in pairs and as far as anyone can tell they don't live in any kind of settlements though it's possible their homes are veiled by magic. Feverish tales from adventurers who got lost speak of stumbling on eastern-styled homes of paper and wood surrounded by bamboo. Feral fox girls however live in caves or dens they've dug out or else hide in the underbrush.
While predators themselves, they do have many enemies that would love to make a snack of them as much as they others. Oni, dragons, lion dogs, and even other fox girls are common predators.
Known examples include:
Common Fox girl, generally wears plain clothes – relatively speaking – and fancy lingerie beneath. They are omnivorous, lack any significant magic, and sport a single tail.
Angel Fox Girl, not actually an angel nor do they have any kind of relation. It gets its name from the feathery wings it sports. They have have anywhere from one to three tails and usually dress in lacy garments.
Noble Kitsune, may dress the part but are far from noble. They are Voracious predators who stalk other fox girls, growing more tails the more they eat. They crave magical power they steal in this way, desiring to be stronger only so they can eat more.
Lunar Kitsune, a nocturnal fox girl that lives in colder climates and dresses in mostly eastern styles. They are notable for their pale skin and white or silver hair. Possesses some of the strongest illusion magic of the fox girl family.
Arachnida Femme Fatale. A particularly notorious class of land fae, the Arachnida Femme Fatale are as cunning as they are voracious and beautiful. Each species resembles a stunningly gorgeous human or Elven female, though a closer inspection will quickly reveal any number of arachnid appendages protruding from their backs. They come in a wide range of heights with most ranging from a mere 4' tall all the way to 7', though there are examples who are smaller and bigger. Like humans, bust size and figure may wildly vary though certain species may be more curvaceous than others. Skin and hair colors are also very diverse and some may display patterning that looks remarkably like tattoos. More colorful example typically pack more potent venom.
Almost all examples of Arachnida Femme Fatale are solitary in nature and those that do display social behavior will usually only associate with one or two other individuals. They can be fiercely territorial and even cannibalistic so most stay clear of each other unless competing for territory or mates. There are however a handful that form small communities and corporate with each other in hunting and rearing young.
Due in part to how dangerous and uncooperative Femme Fatale are, it is difficult to ascertain the extent of each species' intelligence. Many do demonstrate at least a basic level of understanding. Some are even capable of communication but most remain unnervingly silent in their interactions. More concerning is how devious they generally are, always looking to capture and rape others before eating them. To that end, they typically employ venoms and poisons to subdue their prey as well as numerous different strategies. The effects of their venoms and poisons depends on the species, with some simply weakening the prey while other types paralyze. Some create such intense arousal that the prey is unable to do anything but climax violently before expiring.
Archnida Femme Fatale mating is a complex and incredibly dangerous affair for both participants. When it comes time, some release pheromones to attract potential mates. Others will just stalk the wilds until they come across another member of the same species. In some instances, one or both participants will put on a mating dance or do some kind of display though it's not unheard of for Arachnida Femme Fatale species to try and force themselves on each other. Cannibalism is not uncommon, with the lesser or weaker of the two participants often becoming a meal to fuel the next generation.
There are two main orders of Archnida Femme Fatale, the Scorpiones and Araneae, with dozens of species classified under each. The Scorpiones, or Scorpio Femme Fatale, share features common to scorpions. Typically they will have a scoprion tail though some types will also have extra scoprion appendages like pincers protruding from their backs. Unlike regular scorpions, many sport a kind of phallic appendage instead of a normal stinger. Araneae are more like spiders. Most members only have spider legs attached to their backs, coming in different configurations. It's much more rare but some do sport spider abdomens above their very human butts. Species without these will either produce silk from their anuses, mouths, the tips of their spider legs, or from the wrists of their human hands and from their fingers.
There aren't too many natural predators, excluding other Archnida Femme Fatale. Dragons, non-morphic spiders and scorpions, frogs, and particular types of wasps are about the only predators they have to worry about.
Twilight Nymph. Truly one of the rarest breeds of fae, the beauty of Twilight Nymphs is a match for almost any other species. They move with an unearthly, almost angelic grace which is fitting as living members sport a halo of golden light. They bare an uncanny resemblance to high elves save that their skin is usually blue or purple, though some species are a very pale white. Their hair is either white or silver and glossy. Their irises are blue or white and glow while their sclera are dark and black. Heights range from 5'4” to 5'11”. Adults almost always have large busts and curvy bodies but, especially in the case with juveniles, can be more slender. Most all Twilight Nymphs adorn themselves in raiments and accessories of white or silver. Usually in the form of a very revealing dress or even less than that.
Only a handful of species have been identified with a few more suspected of existing but studying them has proven challenging. As with other rare fae, they are very uncooperative and elusive so it's difficult to prove their sapience. At least one species appears capable of communication based on anecdotal evidence. Part of the problem is that they only come out at night and only after the twilight hours have passed. Compounding this even further is their apparent ability to disappear in moonlight. Whether they go out of phase or 'merely' turn invisible is yet unknown.
What kind of social structure they operate under is also a mystery, though it seems most species are solitary or move in pairs. There have been occasions where small groups of four or five have been observed though it's unclear if this is normal behavior. It may be in fact part of their mating process or a survival strategy. Regarding the former, it's suspected most Twilight Nymphs are not monogamous. They participate in a ritualized courtship, copulate, and part ways. This may not be universally true as some scholars believe at least one species mates for life, though possibly as a polyamorous family unit.
It's not exactly clear what their diet is. They will eat pastries and sugary treats, even stealing them from travelers, but those aren't normally found throughout the Sapphic Wild except in settlements and City States. It's possibly they feed on ambient magic in the air or moonlight, of which they are often found basking in. They may also eat or drink mana-infused fruits and spring waters that, again, some of which seem to only appear at night. Like the glowing Star Fruit that appears on plants that grow, flower, and die without ever seeing the sun. And while it's safer to forage at night when most predators are asleep, there are still dangers to be wary of.
Fortunately Twilight Nymphs have other tricks for survival besides disappearing when needed. Almost every species has demonstrated at least one kind of magic unique to them, with potency ranging basic to advanced levels. When using magic or even just stressed out, glowing tattoo-like marks may appear on their bodies. Rather than chanting, symbols and circles of light will appear around them in the air before they strike. They also appear capable of running or walking across the surface of the water and can glide through the air, possibly indicating they can control their weight or density.
These are all valuable tools because elusive they may be, there are still predators that pursue Twilight Nymphs. Notably Shade Panthers but also Moonlight Dragons and Greater Night Vipers. Humans from the outside world target them for their beauty and because their milk is said to heal most ailments or restore vitality. Their 'honey' meanwhile is said to be an aphrodisiac. Their bodies are dense with magic and may be used as power sources for magitech as well.
Known Examples Include:
Shivan Twilight Nymph, uses frost and ice-based magics. Often found in cold climates though they periodically migrate to places that are warmer.
Radiant Twilight Nymph, known to use 'holy' or 'divine' magics. They have a particularly angelic appearance, capable of sporting wings of light.
Vampiric Twilight Nymph, a species speculated to exist. As close to predatory as Twilight Nymphs get. They bite their victims but rather than specifically drink blood, they are after the magic of their victims. The blood merely serves as a medium to extract it. Their bites are not painful and in fact are said to be very pleasurable. Some however believe it's a case of misidentifying a rare breed of Sex Vampire.
Tempest Twilight Nymph, seems to appear only during especially stormy nights. They can control lightning and seem to sing to the sound of thunder.
Dragon Girl. While not necessarily rare, they are undoubtedly some of the most powerful of the humanoid races in the entire Sapphic Wild and are at or near the top of the food chain. Very few can match their majesty or their wrath. The types of dragon girls are myriad not unlike their larger, non-anthropomorphic cousins. They can however be broken down into two groups, anthro and demi dragons. Both can be further divided into True Dragons, Wyvern, Drakes, and Lindwurms.
True Dragon Girls have arms, legs, and a tail. They also possess one or more pair of wings which may be leathery or feathery depending on the species.
Wyverns Girls do not have normal arms per se. They instead have wings with some species having a hybrid of arms and wings like the common harpy.
Drakes do not possess wings and are typically terrestrial except for those species who use magic to fly. A few species may have multiple pairs of arms.
Lindwurm girls lack legs and have an appearance similar to naga or lamia. Some species do have wings though most do not.
Finally, under each of these groups may be dozens of species with vaguely similar characteristics. Any number of horns, spikes or spines, scales of different colors and shape. Some don't even have scales while others only have scales on certain parts of their bodies. Some dragon girls can be as short as 5' and some can be taller than 12', though most tend to be somewhere in the middle. They may have eastern or western characteristics or, in rarer breeds, a blend of the two. Breast sizes range from near perfectly flat to enormous while bodies go from sinewy to voluptuous.
The ratio of sapient to feral dragon girls is about even. And even some feral species still engage in seemingly complex social structures. There are species that are solitary and mark out large swathes of territory, fighting off any other rival claimants. Of those who are sapient, some form small communities that usually live far away from any other sapient race. It should be noted that while they normally cooperate and live in harmony, even they may resort to physical contests to establish dominance. Especially when it comes to mating. Some do pursue romantic courtships but, and especially among the feral species, it does come down to aggression or force. The Termagant species are notorious in that the winner rapes and then eats the loser. Some subspecies don't have to rape others of their own kind to get pregnant. Their would-be lovers don't even have to be dragon girls. Through some magical trickery, they are still able to give birth to more Termagants.
There are very few things Dragon girls don't prey on. They can and do eat non-anthropomorphic animals but most have developed a taste for humanoid fae. Being at the top, just about everyone below is a meal! And to catch their meal, they use just about every trick in the book. Breath weapons, magic, poison, venom, ambush, stalking, chasing down, using tools. If there's a method, there's probably a species that is specialized in at least it. There are a few exceptions, though. Certain species, generally sapient and pacifistic, that only eat fruits or vegetables. Or only eat non-sapient beasts or fae. Some possess detailed knowledge on cooking and use it to prepare their meals.
With all that said, Dragon girls are not completely invincible. They may be at the top but they are not alone in that position, and they're only at the top of humanoid food web. There are non-anthropomorphic predators, including proper dragons, that are above even them. Lesser species of dragon girl are more vulnerable to comparable apex predators and even powerful species can be caught off guard by someone lucky or clever. It may be rare but tables can be flipped and turned.
Known Examples Include:
Imperial Dragon Girl, possibly the most beautiful and powerful of the dragon girls as well as one of the rarest. They possess six feathery wings and wear some of the finest garments in all of the Sapphic Wild. Some wear only lingerie to show off their gorgeous bodies. Others wear gowns of various lengths and quantities of fabric.
Midnight Empress, a type of True Dragon Girl. They are close cousins to the Imperial Dragon girl and perhaps their only real rival. Midnight Empresses only possess one set of wings but they are reminiscent of powerful arms with large claws, contrasting their normal human arms and hands. They are nocturnal by nature, territorial, and predatory.
Lesser Common Drake, a very common type of Dragon Girl. They possess no magic or breath weapon and instead rely on speed and strength while hunting. Subspecies do use venom.
Heavenly Spring Long, a type of dragon girl that uses magic to fly and wears eastern-styled garments like kimono or cheongsam.
Fox Dragon, a seeming hybrid of fox and dragon or dragon and fox. Scholars have debated whether to classify them as one or the other or both. In light of the preeminence of their draconic raits, they are currently classified as dragons.
Greater Mountain Wyvern, one of the larger breeds of wvyern dragon girls. They stalk the mountain passes, ambushing unwary travelers who they subdue with a poisonous kiss or venomous barb at the end of their tail.
Firescale Lindwurm, a dragon girl that typically is found in the desert. Most active in the morning and evening while the day is spent either basking in the sun or cooling off in their underground dens. They wear typically arabian harem clothes. Firescale Lindwurms don't actually breath fire. Their name comes from their ability to generate intense heat through their scales, both as a defense and as a way to weaken prey caught in their coils. They can also breath rays of heat.
While a great many animals were supplanted or replaced during the great cataclysm by fae, that is not to say beasts do not still exist within the Sapphic Wilds. The hardy and strong haven't just survived but adapted to their new world. They even now coexist with or prey on the fae creatures that now dominate the ecosystems. Some have remained largely unchanged, at least physically, but others have been mutated by the magic. Thankfully in most cases it has been to their advantage.
Mammals
Shade Panther. One of the deadliest predators in the Midland Woods is the Shade Panther. A distant cousin of the Displacer Beast, they are fearsome animals that stalk the undergrowth in search of prey. At a glance they appear no different from normal melanistic jaguars that live in the outside world but a closer inspection will reveal they have black stripes rather than spots and their fur is either a shade of dark blue or purple. And though these animals have a similar build, the ambient magic in their surroundings and the diet of fae has reinforced the Shade Panther's already formidable strength. That's not all they can rely upon, either.
Shade Panthers have several unnatural gifts to help them in the hunt. They are highly intelligent, more than normal, and incredibly agile. However it is their ability to practically erase their presence in the darkness that is their greatest asset. Only the the most alert creatures can ever hope to detect an approaching Shade Panther. And even then it might be too late! Once they pounce, they will try to force their prey to the ground where they will apply with their tongues a poison saliva either to the mouth, groin, or other erogenous zone. In small doses it's not deadly but it will paralyze prey long enough for the Panther to have its way. Though it has powerful claws and sharp fangs, they are not often used to rend or tear outside of territorial disputes; instead the predator will demonstrate a shocking amount of restraint as it delicately strips prey of their panties. Once the fae is exposed, male panthers will often pin them under its body and rut away. By some quirk of evolution, their semen is poisonous to anything outside their own species and will cause successive climaxes before death. Female Panthers will instead use their tongue to slowly lick their prey into coming their last. Finally, these big cats have evolved to stretch their mouths and swallow whole whatever they catch even if it's bigger than they are though not by much.
The preferred prey of Shade Panthers are large Land Fae, though they will make a meal of virtually anything if they can overpower it and fit it down their mouths.
Faekiller Weasel. In the wilds, smaller predators are often overshadowed by beasts like dragons or big cats but they're no less dangerous. The Faekiller Weasels in particular are notorious for being fearsome and voracious, with some species hunting prey much larger than themselves. Despite the name, the genus also includes stoats, ferrets, and mink. Sizes range depending on the species, with some comparable to their normal cousins in the outside world while others get as large as cheetah or even lions.
All Faekillers share a fierce appetite for fae and are well-equipped to hunt them. While some types of Faekiller do get quite large, most are not and therefor have to rely on speed and stealth to ambush unsuspecting prey. They have also learned to strike at where fae are most vulnerable, such as the neck or erogenous zones. Faekillers seem to instinctively know that many types of fae are humbled by humiliation and will exploit this, exposing their shame or molesting them with tongue and phallus. A few species will use hypnotic dances to distract and mesmerize prey, allowing for a moment to strike. The Black Serpent Stoat is one of several species which has a venomous bite, nipping at their prey until they are paralyzed and ready to be dispatched.
A strong sense of smell and keen eyesight allow Faekillers to track their quarry over long distances, even those who may be fully clothed or hiding in their nests. That is where the Assassin Mink often strikes, in the homes of its prey and usually while they are slumbering. It will use its powerful jaws to either strangle or snap the neck of a fae before swallowing them in their own bed. In contrast, the Collector Weasel drags fae back to its own den after paralyzing or snuffing them. It may cram as many as a dozen into a relatively small space, storing them for the sparser seasons. Discarded garments also decorate the den, adding to this Weasel's name.
Chell and Bunny girls make up a significant part of their diet though they have been known to also prey on other species with rodent blood in them and Damsel Fae.
Warp Hound. Relatives of the equally peculiar Blink Dogs, Warp Hounds are a rare species that inhabit various regions of the Sapphic Wild. Like their distant cousins, they possess the ability to teleport which they use to either hunt or escape danger. Distance and speed may depend on the breed and can vary wildly. The Silver Warp Hound can easily teleport upwards of a few miles within the blink of an eye. Likewise size can also differ with one of the largest being the Dire Warp Hound who can get as large as adult bull rhinos. Most are more comparable to the average domesticated canine, however.
With the gift of teleportation, it comes as no surprise that most Warp Hounds hunt using surprise and lightning strikes before their quarry can recover. Many breeds will either go for the throat or strike at their victim's clothes to expose her. The Blinking Dasher Hound however, due to its size, instead relies on rapid teleportation to chase down and exhaust or disorient their prey before finishing them off. The Grenadier Hound will instead teleport foreign objects to pelt prey into submission. The most dreaded and rarest of Warp Hound is the Fel Trumpeteer, however, and it is believed these dark furred beasts have the capacity to teleport prey directly into their stomachs. Their victims have mere seconds after hearing the dog's distinctive cry to evade or dispel the supernatural ability before ending up a meal.
Avarice Fox. There are many different kinds of Fox or Kitsune in the Sapphic Wild. Non fae, part fae, wholly fae. Big and small. Few others can match the greed or envy of the Avarice Fox, though; their unbridled jealously of all things humanoid is unrivaled. Each and every single individual dreams only of gaining a gorgeous womanly body. They live solely for this dream! It is thought this yearning is so strong these foxes will feel physical pain, though that remains as of yet unproven. Whatever the truth, it is lamentable for all species of the Avarice Fox are majestic and beautiful. Their coats are silky and glossy, ranging from silver to gold to jet black and even snow white. Even their tears sparkle like diamonds!
Something less ambiguous is their appetite. The voracity of an Avarice Fox is nearly equal to their covetous nature, which is important because it is thought this is the primary means by which they can realize their dream. If they can just eat enough fae or women, they can achieve their apotheosis and gain a humanoid body of their own. The exact number of which is not known and figures range anywhere from a few dozen to thousands. In fact, some scholars doubt the veracity of this story though most agree there must be truth to it. Anecdotes do exist of transformed Avarice foxes giving their accounts and these have survived in written form. It is not known if they need to keep eating to maintain their new shape, though at least one variety seems to.
How many different variants or subspecies is not known at present nor is it clear if some or all start out sapient. At least some are believed to begin their life lacking sapience and only gain it after devouring enough sapient life. Most if not all grow additional tails the more they eat or, at least, the more magic the accumulate through eating. Some merely grow tails over time while a others don't seem to grow additional tails at all. Whatever the case, these along with their ears are retained even after transformation.
One final question also confounds scholars. Once they transform, are they truly still Avarice Foxes or a completely separate species all together? It has been alleged by eyewitnesses that humanoid Avarice Foxes do fall victim to predators that traditionally prey on fox girl fae and that there may even be predators who specialize in the feat. They might also fall prey to other Avarice foxes who have yet to achieve apotheosis.
Avarice foxes have been observed on more than one occasion participating in an unusual but unsurprising activity – stealing clothes. It's postulated this ties into their jealousy and desire. It's usually believed they take some or all of the clothes belonging to their prey either as trophies or to wear once they transform. However, they will also steal anything they fancy anywhere they can. Even from clotheslines in human settlements. They do not seem proud of this and will get flustered if confronted.
Reptiles
Pseudobasilisk. Distant relatives of the much larger true Basilisks, Pseudobasilisks are nevertheless dangerous creatures that lurk all over the Wilds. Their senses are extremely keen, especially their eyesight which is helped by six pairs of eyes. Their sense of smell and taste are also strong, allowing a Pseudobasilisk to pick up a disrobed fae's scent up to a mile away. They walk on their hind legs and are tall, anywhere from 6' to 7'. Their bodies are very slender but can stretch to accommodate prey easily their own size. Likewise, their spade-shaped heads sport broad mouths which can open incredibly wide to swallow even large fae. Most varieties of Pseudobasilisk sport two to three sets of arms allowing them to grapple with prey's limbs and to expose the goods beneath their clothes where they are most vulnerable.
Most members of the Pseudobasilisk family rely on speed and brute force to bring down their prey but some have acquired other methods. The Bedazzler puts its prey in a trance by bobby its head rhythmically while staring intensely in their eyes, lulling them into a state of vulnerability where they can be pounced upon. The Paramour Pseudobasilisk uses its its poison-coated tongue to lather erogenous zones with a potent paralytic while the Pantysnatcher has adapted to hunt fae whose resolve and strength immediately melts away should their panties be pulled down.
While the Pseudobasilisks are more than capable of eating anything, their favorite prey include Damsel Fae, Chell, and even the imposing Chatelaine. The Fox Catcher, however, exclusively hunts Kitsune. Most types will only eat one girl every few days, their shapely outline observed through the tight but stretchy body of the Pseudobasilisk, but some like the Canyon Stalker live in biomes with scarce prey. They will typically stuff themselves full with anywhere between two and five fae.
Bubble Trapper. Not much to look at at first, the Bubble Trapper appear to be nothing more than incredibly chunky and stocky lizards with smooth skin. They may get as large as tigers but their tails are short, they only possess forelegs that double as arms, and enormous spherical bellies. It's almost comical and it doesn't help that they look kind of cute and dopey. Especially the way they seem to smile! But don't be fooled, they are voracious and dangerous predators that have learned to weaponize bubble traps.
Bubble Trappers can't chase down prey but what they do is disgorge a large mana bubble they've infused with a latex-like substance their bodies produce. These bounce and float at their prey and will stick to them. Struggling will only get them more caught until they are inevitably pulled inside. All the Bubble Trapper has to do is wiggle on over and swallow the bubble back up, prey and all. Young Bubble Trappers when born will find mana springs and drink from them, using the fluid to create their own bubbles which they store inside their stomachs until they need to use them.
Winged Viper. Naming conventions in the animal kingdom can be unpredictable and not quite accurate. A Red Panda is not actually a Panda. King Cobras aren't actually cobras. Mantis Shrimp are neither mantids nor shrimp. The Winged Viper, however, are quite literally large vipers with wings. Some species have as many as six pairs. Regardless of how many they possess, these wings get very big and are very powerful. They have to be to convey the viper's large body, which can grow as long as twenty or thirty feet, through the air. And that's not including the weight of any victims they might've snatched out of the air or off the ground. While some species have coloration to help camouflage them against the sky, a few have more colorful displays on account of their deadly venom. In fact, their scales tend to be prismatic.
While the different species of Winged Viper may appear similar, their approaches to predation may vary significantly. There are those, for instance who ingest their prey while still flying and then there are those that prefer to land first. Some have weak venom and rely more on the strength of their bodies to constrict or subdue their prey, especially if they're waiting for the venom to kick in. Some exclusively target land fae, swooping in from above on their unsuspecting victims, and some stalk the sky for flying fae. Some even shoot their venom from their fangs, shooting down their prey which they wait for to expire before landing to safely enjoy a meal.
It likewise depends on the species regarding preferred prey. The Black Sky Reaper, though smaller than its cousins, targets flying fae like larger pixies and even some types of Swan Maiden. The Horned Hawk Viper specializes in swooping down on Bunny Girls and Chell. The Dragonsbane Wing Viper hunts exclusively lesser Dragon or wyvern girls.
Arthropod
Gigapede. If centipedes and their dozens of legs are unnerving, then the Gigapede has to be a truly terrifying sight. Like its smaller cousin, the Gigapede is a voracious and predatory arthropod with an elongated body divided into different segments. Each segment sports its own pair of powerful legs which help propel it through the undergrowth at shocking speeds. Unlike normal centipedes, these creatures can reach impressive sizes and lengths with some species easily rivaling anacondas. Some can even grow bigger than that!
They are proactive hunters, prowling through a wide range of habitats in search of fae to prey on. While members of the Gigapede family may use their size and strength to overpower prey, various species have evolved additional methods. Many have potent venoms that kill or paralyze their victims. The bite of at least one variety will cause the afflicted to basically spasm and orgasm to death. The Lightning Crawler is an azure blue Gigapede that can generate electricity throughout its body. It uses its antennae not only to search out prey but to deliver powerful shocks. If that's not enough and the prey continues to fight, the Lightning Crawler will wrap around it and continue to zap the fight out of them. Unlike conventional centipedes, Gigapedes sport mouth openings that can stretch and engulf prey whole like a snake might.
Gigapedes are generalists and will feed on anything, though their diet largely consists of fae like Damsels and Demis or anthros. They will typically eat a single girl and subsist off her for a couple days to a week depending on her size.
Luxurious Spinner. Not all spiders are wholly carnivorous and in fact some may have symbiotic relationships with other species. Members of the Luxurious Spinner family are known to cooperate with different kinds of fae in mutually beneficial exchanges. The Lacy Tailor creates silky lingerie for those species who cannot make their own and in exchange is allowed to drink the magic-laced femcum of its 'customers' for sustenance. In some cases they are wholly dependent on each other for survival like the Gown Weaver. These spiders weave intricate dresses for the Lesser Western Debutante fae species. Not only do they feed off the magic these girls radiate but they also live under the skirts and among their ruffles or crinoline.
Some Luxurious Spinners can be fickle and even unpredictable. The Widowered Spinner may make beautiful dresses but, if in a foul mood or especially hungry, will sometimes drain completely the life energy of fae that come to it. The Narcissistic Tailor have been known to completely bind fae it finds uncooperative. There is even speculation they have some semblance of sapience and that this behavior comes from dissatisfaction with their work. Not only do fae have to worry about temperamental Luxurious Spinners but also other spiders who mimic them. These nefarious species pretend to be Luxurious Spinners to lure in prey.
But when everything goes smoothly, the process is almost ritualized. In some cases a fae or demi will approach a spider and lay on their back, raising legs in the air and spreading them or folding them back to expose their delicate flower. For spiders that drink milk, though, a fae may kneel and present their chest. If the spider is satisfied, it will have its fill before using its silk to create a work of art either directly on the fae's body or on its own web, presenting it when done.
Womb Wasp. One of the more feared creatures in the Wilds isn't the largest nor are is it even that powerful. Womb Wasps are feared because of what they do to their victims. There are a dozen different species and all of them have evolved to capture fae to use as incubators for their eggs and food for their young. While All Womb Wasps resemble their cousins from the outside world, the smallest is as big as a cat and the largest can rival a full tiger. Their wings are are strong enough to carry something that weighs as much as, and in some cases more than, they do. That includes adult fae.
Shockingly, it's not common for most varieties of Womb Wasp to prey on fae. Only a few have specifically evolved to do such, being able to swallow them whole. At least one type of communal womb wasp does this, going out to collect as many fae as possible to bring back and nurture their nests. Most of them are actually subsist on nectars and fruits with the except of the Rancher Wasp species, which kidnap fae and uses them like cattle. They feed not just of the milk but the 'honey' a fae discharges on climax.
The horrors truly only begin when it comes time to breed. Womb Wasps of all varieties take to the sky in search of victims who they will paralyze or kill with their venomous stinger. In most cases, it is both a painful and yet arousing experience where their victims may cum unaided several times before the end. The paralyzed fae is then brought back to a previously dug out den where a single egg is either laid inside them, specifically their womb before the wasp closes the entrance and leaves. The hapless fae is unable to move, forced to incubate and bring to term the wasp's egg. When it hatches, the larvae is birthed with most varieties milking the fae during the early stages for sustenance but eventually she will not be able to provide enough. At this point the larvae simply eats the fae whole before metamorphosing into an adult wasp and emerging from its hiding place. This is where they get their name from, though actually several species lay an egg only on the stomach or bosom of their prey.
While some womb wasps are generalists, some have evolved to target specific types of fae. The Fae Hawk almost exclusively targets spider girls while the Blue Darter attacks butterfly girls in mid flight. The Giantslayer Womb Wasp goes after land fae even as big as Chell, dragging or carrying their larger frames despite the size difference.
As terrifying as it sounds, there are actually Demi Womb Wasps, too. And like their smaller non-anthropomorphic cousins, they breed in much the same way. Though in their case, they have a greater propensity for raping and molesting their paralyzed victims first.
Faelion. For every normal species in the outside world, there is a good chance a perverse parody of it exists in the Sapphic Wild. The diminutive Antlion, for example, has a voracious and much larger cousin colloquially known as the Faelion. As the name suggests, its primary prey are fae and it hunts them in much the same way as regular Ant Lions do. The Faelion digs a pit in loose sand or soul and buries itself at the center, waiting for prey to accidentally fall in. The sides of the pit are steep and consist of loose sand, affording insecure footing especially for fae in high heels. Should the Faelion detect a struggling fae, it will fling sand to not only disorient it but to cause the side of the pit to collapse so that the fae falls further in. When in reach, the Faelion will attempt to seize the fae with its jaws.
Where the Faelions diverge from their smaller relatives in how they handle their prey. While some do inject venom with their jaws, others instead use a kind of proboscis. They first secure the fae by her hips or thighs and then either pull down her panties or go around them to inject the venom directly into her cunny. The potency of which in most species is strong enough to be lethal, usually causing the fae to cum to death. Some however have venom that merely paralyzes its victim, a fate which may actually be worse. Once the prey no longer can put up any sort of fight, the Faelion will begin swallowing her whole and ass first. For a still-living fae, this can be painful as her body is forced to fold awkwardly through a very tight passage. She will eventually be deposited into the Faelion's stomach which, depending on the species, can accommodate one to five fae who are either digested one at a time or all at once. There are at least a couple varieties who are more traditional in that instead of swallowing the fae, they use their proboscis to drain a fae of her mana until she perishes. Her lifeless but intact body – if she does not dissolve into dust – is then thrown out of the pit as bait for more fae. Likewise, any clothes that comes loose or gets discarded is also thrown out of the pit.
An interesting type of Faelion are those that preys on Meckants or, specifically, the trapped fae that act as their organic components. The fae will usually be separated while the mechanical ant body is discards though not always and some speculate these Faelions are mechanical or cybernetic in nature.
After doing enough feeding, the Faelion will eventually pupate and emerge from the pit as a sort of giant fly. Most adult Faelions only exist to breed and will die a mere few weeks after copulating and laying eggs. At least one species, though, becomes a predatory dragonfly large enough to hunt human-sized prey.
Amphibians
Purdah Gulper. Traveling through the desert can be perilous and not just because of the heat, lack of shade, or general absence of water. There are hungry animals looking for their next meal. Large predators like the Purda Gulper, a type of amphibian that are generally found near rivers and oases. Their smooth skin is normally a tan or sandy color to help them blend in. Their bodies are like large asymmetrical ovals and, like frogs, don't appear to have a neck. Unlike newts or frogs, they walk on two legs and poses not one but two sets of powerful arms that allow them to wrestle prey up to a similar size to their own.
Desert life can be very difficult even for a Purdah Gulper but they've evolved to meet those challenges. The most prominent adaptation is their ability to store their catches in inflatable sacks on their backs. Anywhere from three to six at a time depending on the species of Purdah Gulper. Meals can be hard to come by in the desert, after all, so what they catch has to last! Typically, though not always, the prey are kept in a paralyzed or suspended state until the Purdah Gulper is ready to digest them. The unfortunate victim can last in this state for weeks or even months. Some species 'mercifully' snuff out their prey prior to enveloping them. Most varieties have a toxic mucus or saliva that paralyzes or weakens their prey as well as anything that tries to make a meal of them. The Red footed Purdah Gulper is known to even spit globules at prey, letting the sticky and poisonous substance weaken and tangle them up. Once they're no longer thrashing about, the Gulper will just swallow them up.
Purdah Gulpers will usually lay in wait, buried just below the sand or in a body of water just beneath the murky surface. When something draws close, they spring forward and open their incredibly large and stretchy mouths to engulf whatever it is. Its arms will also grab at the sides of whatever it catches to help force it inside. Once swallowed, the unfortunate victim will be squeezed through the Gulper's body and into one of the sacks that inflates around them. When it comes time to digest, the sack will be flooded with digestive enzymes and vacuum seal around the prey and eventually pull the meat sack back into the body. Purdah Gulpers are not fussy eaters and will try to grab anything and everything.
Sharpshooter Frog. In most depictions of frogs, there's a certain exaggeration to the extent at which they can shoot their tongue out. They are often shown extending to unreasonable lengths well beyond what they're actually capable of. The same cannot be said of the Sharpshooter family of Frogs. Their tongues of can reach lengths that rival even the Great Basilisk Chameleons of the Emerald Jungle. It allows them to pursue aerial prey with unerring accuracy, snatching them instantly out of the sky before the know what hit them. Appearance wise, they look like any other frog except for their size. Most Sharpshooters are roughly comparable to the common house cat but some can get as big as Bernese Mountain Dogs.
Sharpshooters are colloquially known as Pussy Snipers and Heel Clippers on account of the predilection of certain species. The Arrowhead Sharpshooter Tree Frog specifically aims at the crotches of fae to reel them in ass first. Not just because it likes butts but to apply a toxin that seems only effective if applied to the groin or pucker. The fae will be sent into a death spiral of successive climaxes that ultimately end with her death. The Panty Thief Sharpshooter has a similar approach, though it lacks any poison. It instead relies on speed and brute force to get the fae into its mouth as quickly as possible but if that fails, as the name suggests, it will use its tongue to yank down her panties. The fae it typically hunts are incapacitated by the intense humiliation of being depantied which usually causes them to fall to the ground or opens them up to a second strike. Some Sharpshooters merely target the feet of airborne prey, pulling them in feet first while their victims desperately claw at air and ground to try and get away.
While some Sharpshooters can be generalists, the preferred prey tend to be flying fae. Pixies, Sylphs, butterfly and moth girls, even flying Devil Fae. Larger Sharpshooters may even go after Swan Maidens, though they tend to be much harder to hit.
Piscine
Goliath Gulper Eel Size in the Sapphic Wilds can be very deceiving. Predators may not appear as capable or threatening as they really are. The Goliath Gulper Eel is a terrifying example of this, being capable of swallowing prey many times their size with relative ease. This is made possible by their enormous mouths and incredibly stretchy stomachs which can accommodate something as large as a human. The largest members of this family of Eel are comparable to Anacondas in length and girth, though that's where similarities end. Goliath Gulper Eels do not use constriction and instead open their mouths wide ensnare anything that gets to close. Some are so quick it creates a powerful vacuum that sucks their unwitting prey right into the awaiting jaws. The Lightning Goliath discharges electricity that may induce temporary paralysis in its prey.
While Some types of Goliath Eel are passive, using bio luminescence to draw in prey, others are more proactive. The Pelican Goliath actively patrols the ocean depths, lunging at anything it can fit into its mouth. The Greater Basking Gulper swims with its mouth open like a net, catching small aquatic fae and fish before swallowing them up.
Sapphic Angler Fish. There are close to a hundred distinct types of Angler fish in the Sapphic wild, many of which can't be seen anywhere else in the world. Among these are amphibious and even terrestrial species that can be found in almost any ecosystem, even in dry deserts or deep underground in the Twilight Roads. Even more impressive are the sizes they may reach. Some get as big as elephants with mouths so large they can swallow anything of similar size.
The most defining characteristic though is their lure. These come in a wide range of shapes and sizes and some even have unique characteristics or abilities. The Dazzler Frogfish possess a lure which produces a strobe light-like effect which it uses to disorient prey before using its powerful swallow to capture them. The False Damsel Angler however possess a lure shaped vaguely like a female fae which seems to dance when the fish moves it. Certain subspecies use magic or shape shifting properties to make them more convincing. There are stories of some going so far as to adorn their lures with the clothes of their victims. However, it is the Parasitic Devilfish family of angler who are the most insidious; they use a modified fin to ensnare a fae in heat, effectively turning them into living lures for other members of the girl's species or anything that may prey on them.
Sapphic Anglers are ambush predators and will lie in wait for prey to approach. They do this either by burying themselves under a thin layer of sediment, hiding in darkness, or blending in with their surroundings. A few species can change their skin color like chameleons or cephalopods. It is rumored some possess illusory magic, using it to veil themselves in shadow or turn every part of their bodies invisible except for their lures.
Some species have been observed using noxious clouds of poison or paralytic mucous in addition to their lures, surprise, and lightning reflexes.
Constructs
Belly Dancer Golem. The wholly organic or magical aren't the only denizens of the Sapphic Wilds. There are other beings, possibly artificial, like the Belly Dancer Golem. Its name is as sinister as it is deceptive for the Belly Dancer does not itself put on a show. It isn't even pretty to look at, resembling something vaguely human made out of stone and reaching heights of twelve or more feet. One of the only parts of it that isn't rock is its stomach which is exposed and appears to be made out of some kind of ooze or latex-like substance. Most examples are opaque but now and then an individual is observed with a transparent latex belly.
Belly Dancers do have mouths which can stretch surprisingly wide given what it appears to be made of. Like the stomach, its mouth and throat appear to be made of something else though. This perhaps facilitates the swallowing of prey, something they seem to do quite often. This is how it gets it name for anything it swallows ends up in that exposed belly, distending the latex and squirming against it in pain or pleasure. It's a very tight in there and the bulges they leave are quite detailed.
What happens to their meal depends and in some cases it seems to be a mystery. They will snatch someone and then wander off to an unknown location. Others, however, do seem to digest their meals, absorbing them as a possible power source.
Meckants. The Sapphic Wilds are home to all manner of oddities and lifeforms that wouldn't be possible anywhere else. One example, if they could truly be considered alive, are the Meckants which at a glance look like partly mechanical or robotic ants. Partly because a not insignificant component of their body is organic, though technically its not their own flesh and blood! Rather, another living organism is strapped in and connected to the Meckant's abdomen. Not of their own free will, either. The relationship is almost parasitic rather than symbiotic with its apparent captive providing bodily functions the mechanical portions do not provide. One noticeable exception is thought process! The captive does not appear to have any input whatsoever. In return though she will be nourished by whatever the Meckant eats and constantly stimulated with pleasure.
These Meckants live in colonies like normal ants and are highly organized. Workers build expand and maintain the nest or forage for sustenance while larger warriors defend the colony. Their role is essential as predators will try to snack on the 'organic component'. They use powerful pincers and stingers but also electricity and directed energy weapons to drive off, subdue, or slay would-be attackers. Then there are the enigmatic queens who live deep in their colonies and produce (or manufacture?) more Meckants. Of course, as part of that process the colony will send out periodic raids to capture more women to be integrated into new Meckants. It is rumored that some variants of Meckants have Queens who also have organic females integrated into them and are used in some way to breed though this is ill-understood as any attempt to enter a colony is met with hostility.
The range of the Meckants is limited and largely relegated to the deserts and barrens of the western wilds and around the ruins of some lost civilization whose remains have been all but swallowed up with the passage of time.
Aberrations
Invisible Haunter. No one knows what the Invisible Haunter looks like or even what it exactly is, only that it is one of the more horrifying predators in all of the Sapphic Wild. As the name suggests, they are entirely invisible and the only thing indicating their presence are the footprints they leave and their heavy breathing. They are ravenous hunters who stalk their prey relentlessly through the woodlands and tundra they are most frequently found in. While some scholars believe their invisibility is magic, others believe they aren't invisible at all but are just out of phase or hiding between dimensions. Whatever the case, it allows them to sneak up on just about anything.
Anything this monster catches is subjected to a humiliating and gruesome end as they are hoisted in the air by something unseen, stripped, and ravaged. It will appear as if they are floating in the air with their goods on display, writhing and coming for seemingly no reason. When its carnal hunger is satisfied, it will sate its very real hunger by stuffing its catch down its throat. The Haunter may be invisible but its prey is not and will contort awkwardly in the air and appear as if something is squeezing down on it. They will eventually be forced into the stomach where they are awkwardly balled or folded up. Again, on display for all to see. There they will continue to squirm and struggle until they expire and their deceased bodies are essentially put on display while the Haunter digests them. Of course, before anything truly nightmarish is seen, the stomach is filled with a fluid that obscures the view and eventually vanishes with any sign of the prey. Invisible Haunters have been known to use the squirming prey in their bellies to lure in other creatures which they will then eat and individuals have been observed swallowing as many as four fae.
No one knows whether or not the Invisible Haunters are sapient and any attempts to communicate with them usually ends in disaster. They do appear to have a malicious intelligence, though, and have sometimes been heard giving sinister laughs as still-living creatures struggle to escape their invisible prison.
Shadow Creeper. The mysterious and elusive Shadow Creepers are a type of aberration that fortunately few have encountered. Fewer still have even laid eyes on these creatures due to their ability to seemingly hide and travel in shadow. The method by which they achieve this is unknown but almost certainly magical and may in fact involve some kind of dimensional travel or transition between different states of matter. There is unfortunately very little information about Shadow Creepers as most people who encounter them do not live to tell the tale. What scant details there are describe a fish-like and serpentine monster with half a dozen smooth tentacles sticking out of its head as well as flippers along its upper body. It has three to five pupil-less eyes but no visible ear structures or nostrils though that does not rule out the possibility of some kind of gland or receptor elsewhere in its body. They do seem to respond to the pheromones and scent of fae groins and feet.
Shadow Creepers use their ability to stalk and ambush prey as well as to avoid becoming prey to anything larger. Once it detects a fae or traveler, it may follow them for an indeterminate amount of time. Possibly for hours or even days as some survivors had described experiencing a sense of being watched for extended periods. The Shadow Creeper will eventually strike, however, and usually from the victim's own shadow. Most often it will use its mouth to seize its prey by the buttocks and anything that struggles will also be secured with its long tentacles. It will either begin swallowing immediately or pull the victim along with it as it dives back into the shadows. There have been instances where women have stepped onto a shadow and sunk into it as the Shadow Creeper swallowed them feet first, though these cases usually seem to happen only when they are barefoot or without shoe. Striking from above is not out of the question, either, and there is at least one documented case of someone being lifted off the ground and disappearing into the shadows among the rafters of an inn.
False Dracolich. There are monsters in the Fae Wild that look more ferocious than they actually are. That could be said of the False Dracolich, except that it's still a frightfully dangerous predator. It simply isn't as dangerous as its namesake might suggest. For one thing, they are neither dragons or true Liches but rather an organic growth that appropriates the skeletons of dragons. False Dracolich's seem to almost glue back together the bones of these mighty predators, providing it with structural support and also armor to protect its very delicate body.
The False Dracolich does lack the magic, breath weapons, and armored scales of a dragon. That said, it still has the dragon's claws. And while not nearly as strong as a true dragon, the organic growth forms muscles along the bone to provide it with still impressive strength. Growth also creates a digestive system which means the False Dracolich must hunt for prey. They are usually ambush predators, hiding in plain sight as a skeleton until an inquisitive fae draws too close. They will then strike, grabbing the prey either with the skeleton's jaws or claws. If that fails, it can still give chase though they are fairly clumsy given their makeup.
Fae caught by a False Dracolich are in for an agonizing and humiliating end. The digestive system, located usually in the rib cage, is partially see-through so the fae can be seen as it's squeezed into it. She will be seen writhing for the entirety of it until she expires. The membrane of the organic growth will then turn opaque just prior to the fae's body being broken down into mana and absorbed by the False Dracolich. Of course, False Dracolich's aren't fussy and will scavenge as well.
Other
Jellyfish. At a glance there's nothing particularly special about Jellyfish even here in the Sapphic Wilds. They are very common the world over, come in abundant numbers, and are seemingly simple organisms. But those in and around the waters off the Sapphic Wild have been changed by the calamity as much as any other creature. Their evolution has been sped up dramatically and their shapes morphed by the magic contamination. They take on many new forms and some reach gigantic sizes that allow them to prey on more than fish.
They aren't limited to the waters anymore with some species taking to the land or air. The Beach Crawlers are a large variety that can climb out of the waters for a short period of time to sting and drag unwary prey basking on the beach. Pixie Snatchers float through the sky using pouches full of gas, their long stinging tentacles trawling the air for birds and airborne fae. And despite their name, they can get to big enough sizes to catch human-sized meals while their tentacles can get long enough to even catch terrestrial prey.
Adaptations beyond simply stinging tentacles have arisen over the centuries since the calamity. The Sun Dancer Jelly will use its translucent body, enhanced with magic, to focus the sun's rays to cook terrestrial prey into submission before dropping down on top of them. Some Jellyfish display a shocking level of intelligence, almost malevolent in a way. The Angler Jelly will use the indigestible clothes or jewelry of previous meals to lure in curious aquatic fae who are then sucked up into its bell.
Glob Tagger. Despite being fairly common, the Glob Tagger is another animal endemic to the Wilds that defies classification. It has as many as six eyes on an oval body and no apparent apparent appendages other than a single tentacle protruding from the top. It has a single large mouth, or at least what appears to be, with a layer of what appears to be latex or something similar stretched across it. Their skin is like an amphibians, but beyond that they share nothing in common and certainly not in how they move or hunt. Glob Taggers seem to wriggle and squirm at exceedingly slow paces across the ground and thus can't chase its prey down.
What it can do is lure in prey with some species using generating a light at the end of their tentacle while others produce an appealing scent. When something appealing draws close enough, an opening in the tentacle discharges streams of that latex-like substance that cling to the skin and clothes of prey and spreads as they struggle. When they are suitably entangled or wrapped up, the Glob Tagger by some unknown process is able to attract the latex – and the prey with it – into the substance stretched across its mouth. The unsuspecting victim will then be sucked deeper inside as the mouth closes around them as the Glob Tagger begins the digestion process.
Furnace Blob. While oozes already have a sinister reputation, Furnace Blobs are an especially nasty breed. Also known as Oven Sacks or Baker's Ooze, the Furnace Blob is so named because it cooks its victims alive before and during the digestive process which can take hours or even days depending on the species and the size of the prey. This is likely due to some kind of exothermic reaction, though some postulate magic may be involved as well. Regardless, the hapless victim is alive through much of the process.
Most Furnace Blobs lay in wait, ready to ambush any fae or person that walks by. It will lunge at anything that gets too close or makes contact, quickly sticking to and spreading over their unwitting prey. If nothing is done immediately, their feet and ankles and even calves will be encased in the blob's membrane, trapping them and allowing it to travel up her body. At this point, any struggle only spread it further. Some Furnace Blobs are slower than others, making the process all that more horrifying as they are forced to watch it very gradually swallow them up. Once fully enveloped, the ooze's membrane will become like latex as it tightens around its prey, compressing them into usually awkward or balled up positions that are painfully cramped and skin tight. The temperature will then start to rise, creating a sweltering environment that is hot and difficult to breath in. All the while they will be marinaded with digestive enzymes. The process is excruciating to say the least, though some mercifully expire early on due to asphyxiation.
Some Furnace Blobs are more proactive and go out in pursuit. As they don't move especially fast, they usually prey on fae that are sleeping or basking in the sun. Some of these varieties have a mostly transparent surface they use to somehow magnify the rays of the sun to help in the cooking process.
Some tribes have found a way to capture and use them to cook with, though obtaining a Furnace Blob remains ever dangerous. It's not uncommon for a tribeswomen to find themselves ensnared and devoured instead. Oozes that are successfully caught are kept in sealed jars until needed. When that time comes, typically what happens is a fae or animal is put in some kind of pit. If alive, they are almost always bound. The jar will be unsealed and quickly poured into the pit where it will swallow whatever they want cooked. After letting their meal roast inside the Furnace Blob, they will introduce a concoction created from certain special plants that will either ward off the ooze kill it, allowing them to pry the ooze off.
Bed Snatcher. Safety is fleeting in the Sapphic Wilds, even in some cases behind the walls of cities and settlements. After all, nothing is certain when magic is involved. Few animals better emphasize this truth than the Bed Snatcher. They are reminiscent of octopods, being soft-bodied and eight-limbed, and may in fact be members of the class cephalopoda though some suspect more sinister origins. What sets them apart is that they are terrestrial but also possess the ability to fly or at least float, meaning they can get over most obstacles. As they have no bones, Bed Snatchers can squeeze through very tight spaces as well. Combine that with an alien intelligence and there are few places they can't get to.
They are so named for their reputation of sneaking into bedchambers and absconding with its occupants, though this rarely happens in practice. More often they sneak into the dens and nests of fae while they slumber, striking with their many limbs before dragging them off or consuming them right there and then. The largest specimens have been observed carrying full grown Chell. Different species subdue their prey through different measures. Larger ones simply use strength and may strangle their prey or simply swallow them whole and alive. Smaller species may utilize potent venom or poison or may sap the stamina of their victims through some magical means. There is at least one that drains the mental fortitude of its victims until their thoughts are vapid.
Often times there's no trace left of the victim, except perhaps on occasion discarded clothes left abandoned on the ground. Their tentacles are extraordinarily adroit and can undo all but the most stubborn clasps and straps. They are quite capable of sliding a woman out of her dress and pulling down a fae's panties, too.
Tarback Beast. At present scholars argue over what the Tarback actually is. Some believe it to be some form of slime, being made of a viscous substance not unlike tar or, more accurately, liquid latex. However it acts very unlike most oozes or any other creature for that matter. Tarback have an unusual type of parasitic relationship where they use other living orgasms, specifically fae, almost like a sort of adhoc structural frame to support their bodies. The fae will quite literally be encased inside the latex-like body, helpless and unable to exercise any autonomy as the tarback forces them to move. However, rather than emulating the shape of their host, they often take on the form of wild animals like wolves or dogs. In smaller specimens, the silhouette or bulge of arms and legs awkwardly fold are more pronounced though it is less obvious in larger creatures.
While in this guise or shape, they will actively hunt and consume fae and other animals. It's not clear if their host also acts as a stand-in for the Tarback's digestive system or if they get any nutrition at all. It may be that the host is just a temporary, something for the Tarback to form around while it feeds. Scholars suspect this is the case partly because the Tarback, or at least certain species, eventually digest their host and find a new one.
Doppelganger Ooze. Oozes and slime mimicking the appearance of objects or other races is nothing new. Many varieties have demonstrated at least a rudimentary capability. However, the Doppelganger Ooze is almost unique in that it will permanently assume the shape of whoever it consumes. They may become an almost exact copy right down to the physiology of their prey. In effect, most types of Doppelganger cease being oozes and become something else. Of course, the extent of which depends on the species. There are some that undergo a metamorphosis and become something entirely new that is neither an ooze nor a clone. An example is the False Fiend Doppelganger who, upon digesting its meal, will become a more demonic version of whoever it ate.
The extent to which these oozes copy their victims does have limits, at least for most members of the Doppelganger family. They may receive only a fraction of their prey's attributes, such as strength or agility, and only a few species will inherit innate or learned abilities. The Reclusive Warlock Doppelganger, which targets magic casters, will only gain spells its victim has mastered. Rumors however persist among Sapphic Scholars of a nigh mythical species that not only gains all the abilities and attributes but receives enhanced versions. If such a godly ooze exists, they would be a terrifying force should they ever devour a dragon or something similar.
Thankfully reports so far indicate that most Doppelganger can only replicate a meal once. That is to say, they can only transform once. Anything eaten after will only serve to nourish their new, very solid permanent bodies. An exception is the Lesser Doppelganger which must constantly eat to maintain its solid body and keep from degenerating, something it seems desperate to do. The Fickle Changeling is a rare type that retains an ability to transform into any new species it eats even after its first time. The Covetous Doppelganger meanwhile will gain new attributes the more races it devours. Some end up as monstrosities but others, specifically those that curate what they eat, will assume more godly shapes.
While Doppelganger Oozes will prey on anything it can, it seems to be driven by an insatiable hunger for sapient races specifically. They are guided by an seemingly malevolent instinct or even intelligence that, while primitive by comparison, is enough that they may ambush or stalk their prey. Some have described Doppelgangers as being almost jealous or desperate, wanting more than anything to attain that sapience. In the handful of interviews with successful Doppelgangers that were identified, they apparently view their kin who devoured and transformed into feral fae with contempt while regarding themselves as a superior evolution. This seems to indicate a heightened sense of arrogance.
Ironically, once a Doppelganger transforms, their position in the food web can also change. The predators of the race whose identity they assumed will undoubtedly pursue them regardless of their original identity. This works out well for the handful of Doppelganger species who have specialized in turning the tables on their would-be hunters, but most are not so fortunate. They may even fall victim to other Doppelgangers. However, the biggest threat comes from those animals that have evolved to hunt them post transformation. Somehow they have adapted to identify Doppelgangers and subdue them.
As with the fauna, so to with the flora of the Sapphic Wild. Though many varieties remained essentially unchanged, if still contaminated with mana, a not unreasonable number of plant species have evolved in peculiar ways. For the most part this means some glow or have unnatural coloration. Their leaves may take on strange shapes. Some grow faster or bigger but are otherwise not that dissimilar to their cousins in the rest of the world. Not all changes are so inconsequential, though. Rapid evolution caused by the cataclysm has led to the proliferation of numerous types of carnivorous plants and mega flora. They come in such a wide range that it's difficult to classify them all! Below are just a small sample.
Carnivorous Plants
Hanging Menagerie Pod Plant. There are few carnivorous plants that inspire dread like the Hanging Menagerie. Even predatory fae are at risk of falling victim to its amorous tendrils. The plant is part of the Pod family which is known for storing subdued prey in pods or sacks connected to the main body. These serve as a grizzly reminders for the price of carelessness! Hanging Menageries are often found in dense woods or jungles where their narrow body snakes through the canopies like a vine. Each plant will have one or more bells at the end of a flexible stems, each serving as a sort of mouth. The tips of four to six tendril-like vines are often seen protruding just outside its 'lips'. These in fact extent through almost its entire length. Along the body are what look like little nubs or deflated balloons, the eponymous pods, which will distend and stretch when prey are taken into them.
How a Hanging Menagerie subdues its prey is as fascinating as it is disturbing. When something it finds edible passes by, the plant will strike either from above or behind with the tendrils that stick out of its bell. These will lash out and seize limbs, immobilizing the prey long enough for another specialized tendril to insert itself in either the anus, vaginal cavity, or the mouth. Once deep enough, it lodge itself by inflating so that it can't easily be removed. The prey will then be reeled into the bell which will envelope and further restrain them while also secreting a small amount nectar. This will act as lubrication – and an aphrodisiac – as the prey is squeezed past a sphincter-like opening and into the stem. It isb cramped and suffocating, making the entire journey very unpleasant for unfortunate victim who will eventually arrive at an unoccupied pod. Again, they are squeezed through a small open and into very tight sack which will nevertheless stretch around their body. Once in, with the vine still buried in an orifice, the air will be sucked out and the prey will be vacuum sealed inside. The material, although thin, is very strong and will endure most attempts to break free. Finally, the walls will excrete a fluid to break down and absorb its meal. It's a slow process that can take a week but usually the prey will have expired before then from asphyxiation.
A successful Hanging Menagerie may have as many as a dozen shapely sacks, each a snug outline of the prey within, hanging high above from the canopy. This is where it gets its name. And the more it eats, the longer the plant gets and the more offshoot bulbs it will grow.
There are several known subspecies of the Hanging Menagerie. The first is the Pink Waft, which exudes an alluring fragrance. Once an unwary fae comes to check it out, it releases a toxic pink cloud that temporarily stuns or immobilizes its prey. The Lesser Hanging Menagerie is a little smaller and doesn't have the penetrating vine and instead relies on suction to pull prey inside. With how large the Sapphic Wild is, there are undoubtedly other varieties.
Certain clever beasts and fae will seek out the pods to eat, either plucking them from the plant and eating them or peeling it open to get at the contents inside.
Serpent Vine. Convergent and parallel evolution is a common feature in the Sapphic Wilds but to be demonstrated by a plant is unusual even for here! Also called the Python or Constrictor Vine, these plants behave not unlike the snakes they get their names from. Their long bodies, with semi-translucent membrane, coil through the treetops waiting for something to pass by. The vine will immediately strike and coil its victim, tightening with surprising strength until much of the fight has been squeezed out. An opening will form at the tip like a mouth that will then stretch around its victim and slowly pull them inside and eventually push their writhing bodies up into the treetops where the plant will store and feed off them over the next week or two. It can as many as half a dozen girls in this way if sufficiently long enough, storing them in the very cramped and humid body. Most will expire from exhaustion or asphyxiation before their time to digest comes, their bodies kept from decomposing by the magic within.
Bundling Plant. A family of mostly passive carnivorous plants, Bundling Plants lay on forest floors waiting for an unsuspecting victims to step on it. This is because they excrete an incredibly strong and viscous resin that clings to anything it touches. The moment a fae makes contact, whether with her bare foot or a shoe, she will be ensnared by the Bundling plant. Stuck to it. Struggling only makes things worse, spreading the glue-like resin while simultaneously exhausting the victim. Inevitably she will either fall or be pulled into the sticky trap, usually after hours of futile resistance, where she'll be coated completely. Only then does the plant move, its large leaves raising up around its prey and forcing her into an awkward ball. The resin becomes like latex and tightens around the victim who is eventually wrapped up in the leaves as she's slowly digested over the course of a week, though most prey usually expire before then. At least the lucky ones do. Then the plant unfolds, resetting the trap.
Some types of Bundling plants use some form of bait to lure in prey. The Berry Bundler, as the name suggests, produces berries which it uses to draw in hungry prey. The Cinderalla Bundler is so named because it uses the shoes of past victims to lure in new ones. Its digestive capacity usually isn't strong enough to digest the shoes of its prey which are often the only item that remains.
Banshee Rose. The Sapphic Wild is home to many exotic plants but few are as unusual as the Banshee Rose. The name is a misnomer as its not actually a rose. It is more closely related to the Mandrake of legend that could purportedly kill anyone who heard its shriek upon being uprooted. While perhaps not quite as deadly, the Banshee Rose still poses a significant danger to any passerby. It is a carnivorous plant that has weaponized sound in the pursuit of prey.
Most specimens possess a single flower and long stem that thickens at the base with roots that can dig deep even into rock. This allows them to hold fast to any surface such as canyon walls like the Desert Banshee. The flower is reminiscent of an oversized rose and comes in a variety of colors. Many types also release a sweet aroma, possibly to help lure in potential prey. The garden variety Banshee Rose doesn't get very big, usually no more than a foot tall with a flower the size of a tea saucer. The Scouring Shrieker can grow as tall as six feet and its flower nearly half that in diameter.
How Banshee Roses capture prey is as astonishing as it is terrible. Its petals are sensitive to vibrations in the air and as soon as it detects something flying overhead, the flower projects a beam of high frequency sound waves. This is usually enough to stun or outright kill its prey which then falls into the awaiting flower which will proceed to wrap around the unfortunate victim in preparation for the digestive process. They almost exclusively feed on pixies, moth and butterfly girls, and any other small fliers. Shrill Sentries on the other hand feed on land fae. Their flowers aim toward the ground, hitting anything that strays to close with sonic blasts before using tendrils to drag the hapless prey into its awaiting flower.
Many varieties digest their prey within the flower itself but, especially in the case of larger species, some do possess digestive chambers at the base of their stock or underground in the midst of their root system.
Mother of Pearl Faetrap. Flytraps of all varieties are a common sight in the Sapphic wild. More accuately called Faetraps, some are small and prey on species like pixies while others get large enough to swallow full grown bunny girls. Whatever the type, even outside the Chaste mountains they wouldn't exactly be considered unusual. All except a particular type known as the Mother of Pearl Faetraps. What makes them unique isn't how they capture or digest fae but rather what they produce afterwards. As the name suggests, they create pearls of exquisite quality and unusual size.
This is purportedly the result of the digestive process. It's believed that either the residual magic of the fae the plant couldn't be absorbed or else materials it might find indigestible, like jewelry, is condensed into the pearl. Whether it takes a single fae or multiple over a long period is unclear but eventually a pearl will sprout from its center, sometimes sitting on the center or sometimes on the end of a stock depending on the species. Rumors suggest the finish and coloration of the pearl is dependent on what it consumed with rarer fae species producing more exquisite pearls. Some believe these types of plants use the pearl to also help lure in either prey or pollinators. Regardless, they are highly sought after by the various city states and outsiders.
The Mother of Pearl is otherwise very like any other faetrap. They have two large lobes dotted with trigger hairs and lined with stiff outer edges to help trap whatever gets caught. The Faetrap produces nectar to attract prey and anything that grazes more than one hair causes the lobes to slam shut around them. Most varieties then secrete enzymes there to break down fae into magic they absorb but couple species do have digestive sacks that the fae are forced into through sphincter-like passages.
The production of pearls out of captured fae may not be a process unique to the Mother of Pearl. It has been reported that other entirely different families of carnivorous plants also produce them or something similar. There are even animals that make them, like the giant carnivorous oyster.
Soul Siphon. One of the most dangerous and awe-inspiring family of plants in all of the wild are the aptly named Soul Siphons. They are as beautiful as they are potentially deadly, able to suck the lifeforce out of anything that draws too close. Most appear as two or three large leaves jutting out of the ground around a central crystalline structure of some kind. Either a single massive crystal or a stem encrusted in gemstone formations. Whatever shape these take, they often glow with an ethereal light that is almost mesmerizing and may in fact be a means to attract prey. Or else it is a byproduct of all the magic it has accumulated from its victims.
The level of danger actually depends on the species of plant. The Yellow Soulsucker is relatively tame, drawing on only the ambient magic and excess mana that some fae give off. The Reaper Soul Siphon however quite literally rips the life force out of anything that draws too close in almost instant, their bodies falling to the ground in mid step. The Flowering Succubus is somewhere inebtween, greedily siphoning off the mana or vitality of anything in proximity at an astonishing rate but not so fast that the quick witted can't escape. They will be exhausted, naturally, but alive.
As for the bodies of unfortunate victims, that also depends. Most varieties of Soul Siphon feed only on spiritual power, mana, and/or the life force of living creatures and therefor have no use once they are completely drained. Their bodies will be left alone or even used as bait to lure in more prey, though some predators seem to have developed a resistance to the supernatural forces these plants use. These predators may've even developed a symbiotic relationship whereby they devour all the plants leftovers so the bodies don't pile up and scare away other potential prey. Of course, some fae are partly or wholly made of magic and will simply dissolve and get absorbed into the crystals eventually. That's not to say some Soul Siphons don't ingest the physical portion of their victims. Some use roots or vines to drag the soulless vessels into digestive chambers to get every last drop of magical nutrition while the Vampire Soul Siphon saps prey to 'merely' to a point where they can no longer move. Once that is achieved, they are forced to watch as they are dragged into the plant for a long and excruciating process.
Some say that faces or silhouettes can be seen in the crystals of the Soul Siphons, echos of past victims or remnants of their souls. The same could be said of their colorful fruits which may vaguely take on humanoid shape in some species. For those who've found a protective measure against the plant's insidious effects, they may harvest either. They may be used as components of spells or alchemy or they can be eaten to gain magical powers, of which they are quite dense in.
Sapphic Noose Tree. While there are many plants just as or significantly more dangerous, the Sapphic Noose family of trees demonstrate how the corrosive magic of the catastrophe have warped ordinary life into cruel and twisted mockeries. At a distance they look like normal trees, if a bit on the large end, but on closer inspection reveal dozens of vines hanging from its branches. Anyone that brushes past them will find the vines instantly trying to snap around their neck. Should a vine succeed, they will be rapidly yanked into the air anywhere from a few feet to a few meters off the ground where the prey will be allowed to futilely struggle for however long it takes before they suffocate or perish. They may even lifelessly hang there longer depending on the species of Sapphic Noose, a grizzly reminder of what carelessness can lead to.
Eventually, however, the fae will be consumed. The Bloodsucking Hangman, despite its name, will leach off the mana of its quarry and discard the empty – but still beautiful – vessel to attract more prey. The Fruiting Hangman by contrast will pull the exhausted victim into awaiting pods suspended in its canopy. Once inside, the pod will close and vacuum seal around them so that the pod becomes shapely with a vague outline of their features in its plant membrane. In some varieties this is maintained well after digestion and the pods become fruit vaguely shaped like their victim. The Vanishing Noose has an opening in its base in which it feeds its subdued prey, storing them in digestive chambers among their root system.
It is not uncommon to find discarded heels or other articles of clothing around these trees, the remnants of past prey and also bait.
Non-Carnivorous Plants
Bustier Blossom. There is a rare but sought after family of plants that noble women will pay good money to find. Not for spices or herbs. Not for medicinal use or, well, not in the traditional sense. These plants have the ability to make a woman's bust grow exponentially. It's even alleged they can restore youth, though that's likely just a select few species. Unfortunately gaining access to these properties is immensely difficult. First, they are very hard to find though they can crop up in just about any climate. Secondly, with the exception of a few examples, they cannot be harvested or processed into a usable form. Purchasers should do well to be cautious when buying potions purportedly made with their byproducts. Only the nectar from the Ambrosia Bustier will have any noticeable effects.
The only other way to achieve the desired results is to physically be in the presence of a still living Bustier Blossom and there is a not insignificant catch. It's not so simple as drinking or tasting or inhaling something; they must give themselves to the depravity of the plant. Bustier Blossoms have evolved a very specific way of feeding and that's by seizing women with vines and pleasuring her with specialized appendages. Some varieties will merely penetrate a woman's mouth and exude a viscous substance but others will penetrate as many orifices as allowed. The woman will feel intense pleasure for the duration and at some point a process will be triggered inside her. Her bust will begin to grow one or two or as many as five cups. Sometimes even more if the woman is held long enough. After a moment they will begin to lactate, too, at which point flowers may clamp around the woman's nipples to soak up the milk. Her sexual fluids and saliva will also be absorbed by the plant. Eventually, she will be released and free to wander off.
The process is ill understood but experts believe the secretions of the plant trigger a reaction in woman's body that absorbs ambient magic in the air. This is then converted into tissue that causes the breasts to grow and lactate. Merely feeding off the byproducts of the process, a woman's cum and milk, may not be the sole reason either. It's entirely possible this is how the plants pollinate or spread their seeds.
There are two other details eager women need to look out for, though. There are subspecies that 'enhance' more than just the bust. If they aren't careful, they may find their hips, ass, and even stomach growing or distended. Even worse, there are a few members of the Bustier Blossom family that are carnivorous. That, once a woman is gorged and her tits are enormous, will cram her into an awaiting mouth to be digested.
The Spaying Flower. There is an enormous flowering plant that is only found in places heavily contaminated with magic. While it has large petals that are colorful and glow, it's easy not to think much of it. Most of the time the flowers are closed and the plant does little else but sit there. It sustains itself not on meat but sunlight and the ambient magic in the area.
However, every so often and during full moons, the flower opens and releases a sort of alluring scent. Its influence is strongest on male humanoids who can be drawn in from upwards of a mile away. If they aren't careful, the plant will wrap its petals around them and pull the unsuspecting male – or herm – inside. One secure, it'll release an aphrodisiac that causes whomever is inside to hump en opening in the flower. Some species instead have vines with smaller flowers that wrap around the cock. Either way, it milks them for their seed over and over again while contaminating their victims with mana.
The flower gets its name because at a certain point the mana and fluids of the plant causes the manhood to dissolve or melt off but not before the person inside is slowly transformed into a woman. There are certain species of Spaying flower that don't do this, at least if the person gets out in time, but they look near identical save for differences in leaves. Eventually the person will be released, likely confused.
The plant meanwhile uses the seed as both nourishment and the foundation of its own breeding cycle. Certain varieties as the Dandelion Spayer, need nothing else but a man's seed to pollinate. It will eventually release its seeds, like real dandelions, casting them to the wind to be carried by fine hair-like material. The Blooming Spayer meanwhile stores and converts the seed it has stolen, next attracting wandering female fae who it lures in and then rapes. The seed is stored inside and the fae is sent off to be raped by other Blooming spay, cross pollinating as she goes. Men caught by Blooming Spayer, in addition to turning into women, may also turn into the same kind of fae that was last deflowered by the plant. Either partly or wholly. If they're lucky, they'll retain at least some semblance of their memories and intelligence.
Heat Bloom. Not all plant life is to be avoided in the Sapphic Wilds. Some can be very beneficial and are sought after. The Heat Bloom is a type of large flower found in frigid climates where the ambient magic is high. The plant doesn't sport a long stem and sits very low to the ground but its petals are long, easily taller than a man, and they form a kind of half dome over its stigma and filaments. Attached to the plant somewhere between all its reproductive organs and suspended several feet off the ground is what appears to be a spherical, almost crystal-like organ that glows with a bright amber or yellow light. It also produces thermal energy by drawing in mana from the surroundings and converting it in some kind of chemical process. The heat may be a byproduct or it may be used by the plant to survive even in the cold of winter.
However, it does seem to serve one clear purpose. It draws in fae looking for heat and shelter, such as Flower Damsels, who rub against the flower and accumulate pollen. By moving from one Heat Bloom to the next they act as pollinators.
Fungi
Trapper Shroom. If ever there was a lesson in watching where a person steps, it'd be the Trapper Shroom family of fungi. They appear as small, seemingly innocuous caps of red or blue or green that barely stick out above the ground or foliage. However, stepping too close will cause the actually quite large fungi to spring up and strike its potential victim. Usually in the back where it's sticky surface latches on, rapidly spreading the more the prey struggles. Eventually the Trapper Shroom will hoist its catch into the air and engulf them in a latex-like layer that pulls tightly around them.
Normally this is where the fae is broken down into nutrients for the fungi over the course of days or weeks but there are subspecies which rely on the shapely bulge of their victims to proliferate. A hungry predator will note the brightly colored and silhouetted victim of the Trapper Shroom and either snatch or devour it. The latex-like fungi will then be transported to other areas, either falling off the unwitting predator or emerging from orifices to trap them.
Lightning Cap. The Lightning Caps are a type of carnivorous fungi that can produce electrical shocks. They are not that dangerous by themselves, producing little more than what amount to static discharges. However, when acting in concert, they produce enough electricity to bring down even large land fae like the Chell. They are usually found in small patches, waiting for orgasms to stumble into their trap. Once a prey item is immobilized, the Lightning Cap's mycelium while drag it into the fungi to be absorbed. Gradually, as more prey is absorbed, the Lightning Caps spread outward. Whole meadows may become deathtraps for unwary fae, though fae or elementals with an affinity for lightning may in turn feed on the mushrooms. Lightning caps are blue with glowing spots and some can get quite large.
Bombard Fungus. In the wild, danger can lurk behind any corner and come from any angle. Nowhere is this more evident than with the Bombard Fungus. It can be found in almost any climate though its most commonly encountered in swamps and jungles. The fungus grows on virtually any surface, be it tree limbs or sheer rock faces, where it forms colonies that feed on ambient mana and nutrients. Where the Bombard Fungus gets its name is how it spreads itself. After achieving a certain size, the colony can detach and catapult significant segments of itself to new surface. However, as the colony grows and spreads, it begins to look for larger sources of nutrients.
When a fae passes within range, all nearby colonies will begin hurling themselves at the unsuspecting victim. The globules are sticky and latex-like, clinging to whatever it impacts. While challenging to remove, it's still possible to fight off one or two. However, it becomes much more problematic with a dozen or more globules. They will begin enveloping the fae and trying to meld until she's entirely encased. Once this happens, she molds will begin a digestive process to break her down and absorb the mana. It can be an agonizing process and the fae trapped inside might struggle for hours or days before expiring. The digestive process will take even longer than that and once finally depleted, the mold will send out spores. With some species, the fungal husk may remain. Not unlike a shapely latex statue.
Survival in the Sapphic Wilds is never guaranteed. The unpredictable nature of its ecosystems requires specialization while the relationship between predator and prey has led to a kind of arms race of adaptions unique to the realm. Some of these are biological or natural but others are wholly influenced by natural magics and the flow of mana. Invisibility spells, binding ropes of light, and more have all been demonstrated by even feral races!
Hunting Adaptations
Predators in the Sapphic Wild don't always have it easy. As with the outside world, failure rates vary wildly with some averaging anywhere from 20% to 80%. It makes sense. Prey don't want to be eaten, after all, and will do what they can to avoid it. What is a hungry predator to do? Adapt, of course. Typical examples include speed attained through various means to chase down their prey or camouflage to hide and lay in ambush. If these are too boorish, there is always poison or venom! Fangs and stingers are obvious delivery mechanisms but more humanoid predators might wear poisonous lipstick that is administered with a kiss! Some creatures breath or exude clouds of poison to envelope their victims. All to either paralyze or kill! And in some cases cause prey to cum to death to allow for a nice, easy, and aroused meal.
But some have more esoteric methods in subduing their prey!
Hypnosis, mind control, anesthesia. With a glance or a scent or specialized appendage, there are types of animals and plants that can lull others into a state of vulnerability. Certain species of terrestrial angler fish will mesmerize prey with its glowing lure before gobbling them up. The Elven Tamer is a type of carnivorous plant that releases a sort of pheromone that lures in long-eared fae and even types of elves. They fall into a stupor before the plant which then simply pulls them inside to be digested.
Sunlight has been weaponized by some types of flying oozes and jellyfish. In these cases they focus the light of the sun onto an unsuspecting animal, baking them alive and causing heatstroke. When they are weak or expire, the predator simply drops down on them to enjoy a cooked meal.
Sound is often overlooked in the realm of mortals. Yes, there's echolocation and that is used by some in the Sapphic Wilds, but others have found ways to weaponize it. There is a certain breed of plant, for instance, that somehow generates specific frequencies that stun passing pixies and cause them to fall into awaiting pitchers where they are digested.
Stickiness is also a route some have evolved to use. There are of course sticky webs that some insectoids use. Predatory slugs may leave trails to catch the unwary, coming back to eat them once they're fully coated. Northern Swamp drakes use a special orifice on their heads to spray prey with a sticky latex-like slime that spreads the more they struggle and immobilizes them for easy consumption. And Greater Chameleons will shoot their sticky tongues, snaring prey and dragging them into its awaiting mouth.
Some feral creatures even use rudimentary forms of magic to hunt their prey. While Silverscale Basilisks may temporarily petrify their victims in silver, the Thunderback actually casts lightning spells that zap prey into submission.
There are hundreds of examples and variations demonstrated by innumerable species all for the express purpose of sustaining themselves. A wise man once said that the imagination is a weapon and those who don't use it die first! Or, in this case, starve.
Monogender Mating
The unstable magics which afflict the Sapphic lands have had a myriad of effects, not the least of which being the abnormally high number of monogender species. In fact, they make up roughly 90% of all life here. Whether it's the mana itself or the integration of fae into the ecosystems, it isn't sufficiently understood; only that every one of them is entirely female and it has been that way for centuries. An outsider might then ask how they sustain populations, how they breed! As luck would have it, nature – and magic – has found a way. The creatures here have evolved around the need for a second proper gender.
Tribadism.A majority of these monogender species have found a simple and eloquent solution through a kind of copulation that is not all that dissimilar to what normal species do. Only instead of penetration with a kind of phallus, they merely rub their genitals together and mix their fluids. Impregnation may be more challenging in some ways, but it is possible for both participants to become pregnant in certain species.
Futanari. Some have evolved a peculiar ability where some or all members of a species can grow a phallus, usually during breeding seasons. Age, diet, or just a general mood may affect who does and doesn't grow a cock during these periods. It might even be triggered by certain pheromones. The Mithrine race of Demi felines are a good example. During spring time they come into heat and a handful will feel a strange warmth in their nethers. This sensation will grow and grow until they sprout a penis. After which they will find a mate and do their business. Once everything is said and done, the penis will shrink away and disappear. Individuals might only grow it once in their lifetime while others may spring a cock every other year.
There are a handful of races who every so often give birth to a hermaphrodite. While not rare, they are uncommon and in these cases females will usually vie for the right to bear their children. Those possessing a member might also accumulate harems or prides which they will breed with often.
Kidnapping. Not all races can rely on their own to breed. In these cases they will resort to kidnapping or seducing members of other species to use for breeding. The almost entirely hermaphroditic Lepida, a race of bunny women, are notorious for kidnapping females. No matter what race they are, though, they will always give birth to pure blooded Lepida.
The Pale Widower spider demis will paralyze women of other races – and even each other – so that they can plant a single egg in their victim's womb. This is accompanied by a special, mana rich fluid that causes the host to fertilize it and bring it to term. She is then forced to to give birth to a young Pale Widower who will rape and then eat her 'mother'.
Transformation. Then there are fae that use more esoteric means of reproduction. They don't produce offspring but rather transform others into new members of their species. The one they are transforming is usually, though not always, an unwilling or unwitting victim. They are either forced into it or tricked. Unbirthing is perhaps one of the most common ways this is done, being used by species like Sex Vampires.
Some use a form of infection or contamination to turn others. Anyone that the Hussy Bunny fae makes out or has sex with with invariably become a Hussy Bunny themselves. Sometimes all it takes is just wearing a fae's clothes, such as with the Narcissist Damsel Fae. It is said they can create shoes so pretty that it's impossible to resist putting them on. Unfortunately by doing so, the shoes practically fuse to feet of whoever put them on and they slowly transform into a Narcissist Damsel.
How much or how little a person or fae changes is highly dependent on what species they fell victim to. In a lot of cases, their minds are overwritten or altered in some way as well. It's also usually irreversible unless caught early enough. A particularly powerful saint or cleric or someone else with extraordinary magical talents may dispel or reverse the transformation. Sometimes something simply needs to be removed, though that something may be internal.
Fae Clothing
For a long time researchers had a difficult time ascertaining how wild Fae acquired clothing. While humanoid in appearance, most species possess a very limited intelligence that is more akin to an animal than a sapient person. It's fair to say these fae probably lack the capacity to sew or weave, certainly not at the level to create the intricate lingerie and gowns that many wear.
It wasn't until a motherly fae was observed licking her newborn that Scientists found their first lead. The mothers of certain species use their tongue to groom their children which, in addition to cleaning them, coats the young fae in saliva-like magic. This magic will solidify after several applications, transmuting into physical clothing of the finest materials and quality.
Other species have been found to use less unorthodox methods, either relying on their parents to use a kind of magic or casting it themselves after a certain age to conjure up lingerie on their bodies. This is usually done in the relative safety of their dens or in the thick wood as it usually takes time and they are mostly likely vulnerable to predators.
Plants are another source of clothing, albeit in less traditional fashion. Unlike humans who may harvest cotton, certain species utilize the nectar and pollen itself. They, shortly after birth, will seek out specific kinds of flowers to rub against their body or grind against until they are coated. At some point a magic is triggered that transforms it into fae garments. They may have to do it multiple times before this occurs, thus causing pollination in the process.
Several types of fae have been observed using insectoids to assist in the endeavor. Typically moths and butterflies, though on rare occasion certain kinds of spiders have been seen engaging in a symbiotic trade with fae. At least one species of fae offers up its 'nectar' in exchange for silk woven into fine undergarments. However, such encounters can be perilous and other types of spiders have been seen mimicking these friendlier varieties to lure in potential prey. Other kinds of spiders can be temperamental and fae risk becoming a meal instead of engaging in mutually beneficial exchanges. It's a strange that these wild fae would gamble their lives for underwear but there is an importance to fae clothing.
Predators in the Sapphic Wild most often use scent and taste to hunt their prey. Fae give these off in abundance from the soles of their feet to their groin and therefor must mask it as much as possible. Fae panties conceal their alluring crotches while stockings and shoes protect their feet. For fae who emit pheromones from their armpits or neck, chokers and sleeved gowns or tops are often used. More over, clothing can be used to blend in with their surroundings. However, should a fae be spotted by a predator, it is their magical heels that give them the speed and stamina to flee. In rare cases fae may be poisonous and rely on their clothes to warn predators. Still others rely on their clothes for far greater protection than simply hiding or running. Panties might be poisonous to predators while negligee may be as strong as iron. In one instance a fae was observed to produce electricity from her bodysuit or leotard. To overcome these obstacles a predator must find a way to carefully remove them or else be adapted to eat or get around them.
Not all fae can create their own clothes and not all of these have symbiotic relationships with plants or animals. In these cases the fae species are observed scavenging. They rely on the discarded clothing of other fae or travelers. Some predator fae specialize in wearing the clothes of their victims, stripping them down to take their vestments before taking their bodies as a meal. Some rely on predators that exclusively strip their catches and throw aside the inedible 'wrapping'. The awaiting girl swoops in to don those discarded articles before any predator is the wiser. And others steal the clothes off the backs of different fae, usually while they are asleep. Bolder species may wrestle a fae to the ground and take her clothes before fleeing, leaving their victim exposed to potential predators. Intelligent predators have learned to lure scavenger fae out with leftover, using shiny heels or risque underwear to draw them into a trap before striking.
It should be noted that most fae clothes is actually edible, at least those that aren't poisonous or otherwise deadly. They are rich with magic and nutrients much like the fae themselves. However a desperate traveler should be careful the clothing wasn't actually made by mortal hands or else they'll be in for a rude awakening.
Fae clothing can fetch huge sums of money with merchants and traders, too. As mentioned previously, they may be treated as rare delicacies though the same could be said of the fae themselves. Wealthy lords will also buy fae undergarments to give to their wives to wear. The clothing is of unusually high quality, putting to shame mortal tailors and seamstresses alike, and can lend an enchanting beauty. Some even believe they can behave like aphrodisiacs or increase fertility. Unfortunately some can turn whoever wears them into fae so caution is always advised when buying from shady sources.
Adolescence
The Sapphic Wilds are an incredibly dangerous place. Predators lurk around every corner and even the environment itself is hazardous to the unwary. Growing up or even giving birth here can prove challenging. That is why many species of fae have adapted to giving birth to more fully developed offspring. That is to say, their newborns are analogous to human adolescents. In some cases this only extends to physical development. They may appear to be in their early teens but will in fact be only a couple days or weeks old and their minds likewise reflect that. Other examples however will demonstrate mental faculties much closer to adults of their species.
Whatever direction it takes, this evolutionary step is meant to increase the odds of survival for their species. A fae that has to dedicate more time to rearing young is vulnerable for longer than a fae that doesn't. To that end, another adaption is shorter gestation periods. Aided by an almost alien physiology and magic, this can be achieved in as little as weeks as opposed to months though not all fae have this capability.
While these adaptations mean they aren't completely helpless, some fae offspring are still reliant on their parents initially. They simply less susceptible due to the head start in basic motor skills and survival instincts.
How long fae stay in this 'adolescent' phase varies and some species will retain a very youthful appearance even into advanced age. Others will grow out of it in months, gaining a more mature appearance.
Humiliation
Whether by quirk of magic or possibly an ill understood evolutionary turn, humiliation plays a significant role in hunting and mating for many species in the Sapphic Wild. At least, what sapient races understand as humiliation. Getting spanked, receiving wedgies, being bound in compromising positions, getting tickled. These are all common examples that influence all fae, feral or not, despite not necessarily understanding concepts like modesty. Even just exposing a fae's 'goods' against her will can have a dramatic and deleterious effect, something that predators take advantage of.
A typical strategy for predators in the midst of subduing prey is to use a form of humiliation, in conjunction with any other adaptation, to sap the resolve or will of their prey. Certain fae species lose any fight left in them when their panties are pulled down against their will, reducing them to a sobbing mess on the ground. Some are even put in a catatonic state! Other predator fae will spank their quarry to make them nice, tender, and compliant before eating them.
When it comes to mating, wild species often have to establish dominance both against rivals and over potential mates. Humiliation may play a roll here. The winner in a competition over mating rights usually is the one who endures the most humiliation in these cases. Sometimes this can look very silly to outside observers. The sight of two adult female fae jockeying for position to tickle or wedgie the other into submission might seem silly but it is a serious matter to the species who resort to those methods. The mates themselves are not immune from degradation. Some species are notorious for putting up fights and have to be subdued or put in their place. The Pale Binding Driders will wrestle with each other with the winner forcing down and tying up the loser before copulating. The loser than gives birth and provides sustenance to the young.
Hunters from the City States or from outside the Sapphic Wild will often learn what humiliates which fae to better help them in pursuing them.
Sex and Sexecution
It isn't immediately apparent to outside observers but those who visit the Sapphic Wild will learn very quickly there is an unsettling – and perverse – facet to its nature. Here sex plays a considerable role that extends beyond merely reproduction or recreation. Somehow it has become a crucial method not only to establish dominance within many species but also how a lot of predators subdue and dispatch their prey. The reasons behind these evolutionary traits yet defy explanation though, as with many other aspects of the Wilds, it is likely linked to the calamity.
Almost all Fae in some way, greater or small, have evolved to also use sex for other purposes. From weaving fae clothing to settling disputes. What constitutes rape in the civilized world is quite common here, with rivals trying to rape the other into submission to establish control over a given territory or mate. Some will mark their domain with femcum, masturbating and ejaculating on surfaces. Some use sex to dress their offspring for the first time, using the mana produced through their intercourse to create an ensemble directly on their bodies. Then there are species who use sexual interaction to communicate, from kissing to fondling and more.
Sex also plays an outsized role in the subjugation of prey for a lot of species. Scholars speculate the evolution of predators went in this unique direction as a way to minimize injury to their quarry. While this may seem odd or even counterproductive, it's believed physical damage to the corporeal vessel will diminish or sully its mana and thus deprive it of nutritional value. That is why powerful predators like dragons will take great care not to rend or maul their prey even if it is capable of fighting back. In lieu of fang or claw, sex is used to bring submission as fae in the wild are especially susceptible to stimulation of their erogenous zones. They can be brought to exhaustion and then consumed at leisure by whatever caught them. There may be another reason for it as well. Arousal seems to enhance or cultivate the mana within fae, in a sense ripening like fruit. They are therefor most delicious and nutritious after they experience a climax or three. This explains why a multitude of predators sexecute their prey.
Sexecution is when a predator kills their prey through some means that involves sex or orgasms in some way. A common method involves poison or venom that doubles as an aphrodisiac, inducing such intense arousal that the victim will orgasm multiple times before expiring. Poisonous saliva and semen or, in the case of some fae species, poisonous lipstick will often be applied to the prey's mouth or any erogenous zone where it is absorbed. Phallic stingers may inject toxins orally, anally, or vaginally. Other types of predators have adapted to hunt specific fae who are vulnerable to stress. Their prey will succumb to overexertion from too many climaxes induced by the predator's tongue, fingers, or phallus. The mana of a fae may be targeted directly through some means as well, like through the transmission of semen. In this way, her mana can be corrupted to provoke a kind of self-destructive immune response akin to an allergic reaction. The end result is almost always fatal, the unfortunate victim cumming to death before their predator's eyes. In any of these circumstances, once finished, the prey can be consumed at leisure or stored for later.
Securing Prey
Even after a fae is subdued, the hunt is not over. The race is on for the predator to secure their prey lest others steal it out from under them or, worse, make an attempt on them while they are vulnerable during ingestion. Hunts inevitably cause a commotion and even when they don't, the same scents that led the predator to their prey will still linger in the air. While some predators rely on their imposing physiques to dissuade interruptions, others have evolved specific strategies or techniques.
A common tactic is to simply make off with the prey before anything else shows up. Predators like weasels may drag their prey out of sight, usually into dens or nooks where they can enjoy their meals in relative peace. For predators like big cats, it may simply be enough to drag their catch into the treetops or some other lofty height where rivals cannot easily get at their meal.
Some predators instead – or in addition to other strategies – will mask the scent and pheromones of their prey. Some will rub themselves all over their prey until their original scent is muted. Some will accomplish the same feat by secreting some kind of fluid or chemical on their catch. Encasement or, less commonly, the changing of a prey's clothes have also been observed in some instances as well. However, the most common method seems to be through sex. Paradoxically, in some cases the released pheromones and juices of both predator and prey mixed together seem to almost cancel each other out though the exact nature of this phenomena isn't well understood.
Then there are those species that use magic. Through one means or another, a predator may produce a field that erases, if temporarily, their presence or turns them invisible. They may create illusions to conceal themselves while they feed and ultimately digest. Whatever the case may be, magic is much rarer than other methods.
Digestion
The biology of fae and native animals is nothing short of a miracle but that isn't too surprising since virtually all life in the Sapphic Wilds is touched in some way by the magic that contaminates it. One way in which this manifests is through their superbly efficient digestive system. So efficient that no unseemly waste is generated. This is partly achieved through supernaturally induced evolution but it may also have to do with the composition of most life here.
Many fae species are almost entirely made of mana, if not completely. While they may appear to be made of normal flesh and blood on the surface, their bodies are basically an ethereal facsimile. Their innards are made of condensed mana in a solid state that, when digested, is easily broken down and absorbed. Fae clothing is also usually made of mana and therefor edible by most predators. Even those species who are partially or wholly organic will be converted into mana by the digestive tracts of species living here.
There are still things that not every species can digest, though. Certain materials, certain types of jewelry or clothing that are naturally durable or made of superior magic. In those odd cases, most species will just strip what they can from their prey or else expel the offending materials once finished digesting. There are some, though, who may simply harbor these materials in their guts until death. A handful of species will instead excrete pearls or crystals made of these indigestible materials and mana too dense to absorb.
While the peoples in the Sapphic Wild on the whole probably wouldn't be considered that civilized by outsiders, that is not to say they've made no cultural or social development. Some of the sapient races live in tribes or clans. Of these, at least half are nomadic or semi-nomadic to avoid all the perils. The most advanced races have developed city states in the more stable regions of the Sapphic Wild where the phenomenons are less frequent and the dangerous beasts less numerous.
Trade between them is not uncommon but neither are the territorial disputes and raids. Slavery is a common part of life with captives often being used as laborers and servants or as fodder and sacrifices to pagan deities. But there is another reason for the raiding and taking of captives. Monogender is the norm in the Wild and most of those races have evolved to accommodate it. Some, however, rely on captives to continue their lineages. The Lepida tribe of bunny women are mostly hermaphroditic and need females from other races to procreate while the humans from the city state of Azashi entice the few men out there with lavish orgies in public fountains to create the next generation.
Suzerainty of the Night
There are stories of a great and terrible dominion somewhere in the northern half of the Sapphic Wilds. Few dare speak its name aloud out of fear but all know of the fabled Suzerainty of the Night. Said to be ruled by the Nobilis_Succubi, it is a small but imposing state that only the foolhardy or the desperate seek out. Stories say that men are killed on sight or else taken captive and used to breed with mortal women, little more than cattle to supply their mistresses with fresh bodies.
Like the City states further to the south, the Suzerainty periodically sends out raiding parties to capture women for their nefarious purposes. Women of worth may yet find their futures secured, eventually coming succubi themselves. They will likely toil as handmaidens or Ladies-in-Wait until such a time. Those judged inferior will remain as handmaidens, little better than slaves, while anything less becomes the food of their mistresses.
While the Succubi are said to rule, it is very likely they make up a very small portion of the actual population. In the thousands or even hundreds. The rest are mortals or fae who work on their behalf. At the top though is the Dread Queen who rules with absolute authority through her Archduchesses and Duchesses. They carry out her dark will and bring her the finest women to feed on.
The City State of Azashi
Azashi is the closest City State to the main route which connects the Sapphic Wilds to the outside world. As such, it sees the most traffic of outsiders, which isn't much. It offers a relatively safe haven for visitors as well as a major hub of trade. As such Azashi is also one of the more developed city states. Its population is almost entirely human women. And men who were turned into women by the Wild's magic after prolonged exposure. The city is ruled by nine women, called the Epoptae, who are picked from the most influential families and voted into their office by Azashi's citizens.
Culturally, the city state appears to be a blend of eastern (Japan) and western (Greek) styles. Important buildings are often built of marble or granite but wood and paper are more commonly used to build homes. Bathing is a major part of their culture and families will frequently do so together. When the Azashi go to war or fight to protect their people, they form phalanxes with shields and spears and are supported by mounted archers.
To sustain their population, the Azashi rely on tourists and visitors rather than raiding their neighbors. To that end they host lavish orgies in the name of their fertility goddess. It might seem like drunken revelry to an outsider but it's so much more than that. It's every bit a holy festival that is steeped in ritual and important to the city's survival. These celebrations last for an entire week and culminate with everything spilling into the ornate fountains throughout the city. At the end of it men are given various flowers and sent on their way. Women who become pregnant are celebrated and parade before the main temple. Women who don't are given blessings by the priestesses in hopes that next time they will succeed. All children are born female, no doubt because of the magic contamination.
Azashi is a walled city built on a hill overlooking fertile planes that don't seem as contaminated as other areas. As such, there are less voracious fae and beasts to worry about. The nearby woodlands are another matter, however.
Narabae
There are few places within the Sapphic Wild that are suitable for permanent settlements, nevermind cities. However fertile the Sapphic Wild may appear, the contamination of magic is virtually everywhere. Almost everything is saturated with mana, from air and water to the land itself. This can make growing crops difficult or impossible. In worst cases, crops might become poisonous or even mutate into something carnivorous. Supernatural phenomena can happen virtually anywhere, too, representing an inherent danger to anyone that stays in one place to long. Therefor many advanced communities take up the nomadic lifestyle and there are no better example than the Narabae.
The Narabae represent a loose confederation of clans that migrate across the Wilds with the changing of the seasons in search of stable areas to forage and resupply. On occasion they may even interact and trade with the various city states that have managed to thrive, though there exists a mutual distrust. Those who live in the few major cities often remain suspicious of anyone that survives outside the safety of their walls. The different cultures may also clash. This persecution in turn breeds disdain in the Narabae for those too weak to survive outside those walls. However, they each provide goods and services the other needs so overt hostility is normally avoided.
The Sapphic Wild is a challenging place to survive in on the best of days so the Narabae have developed many skills for that purpose. They are incredible scouts, able to navigate even the most treacherous geography. They are highly capable foragers and huntresses as a matter of course for they lack the means or patience to till fields. Their stealth and skills with the blade or bow are legendary, too, with some whispering they offer their services as assassins. While that's almost certainly slanderous rumor, it is true they do act as guides to outsiders in exchange for supplies or gold.
To stay mobile, most clans rely on animals and large wagons of their own unique design. No two are exactly alike and they behave like small homes for each family. A handful of clans instead use large beasts upon which they build huts. The fabled Yaesazi clan are said to live entirely on the back of a mammoth tortoise whose shell has enough space to even grow trees. Some clans, especially small ones, may not even have wagons and instead carry all their belongings. They may live out of tents or caves, never staying in one place for longer than a day.
While the Narabae are ostensibly one people, in practice they rarely act in concert. The only things that bind them are a common set of traditions and bylaws. Rituals are important but also brisk as danger lurks everywhere. Survival of the clan and family are paramount as are loyalty to either. Each clan is made up of multiple families, each family being led by the oldest or most experienced woman among their number. These Matrons, as they are called, form the clan council which makes all decisions and settles most disputes. Any conflict outside their purview is often settled with a duel where both aggrieved parties strip down and enter into the woods where it is expected they 'work things out'. If a party gets the other to submit or if they come back alone, they are in the right. If neither comes back, then it was clear they were both wrong. If their kin press the issue, each side elects someone else and the duel starts anew until one side is clearly victorious. The loser may sometimes be taken as a slave or trophy by the winner. Slavery is an accepted practice within most clans, though not all permit the taking of slaves from other families within the same clan. Raiding other clans or peoples do happen and capturing fae to be pressed into service is widely practiced. They most often target Equine Fae.
Union of Ruhl
Dwarves are a rare sight in the Sapphic Wilds but not only are they present, they are one of the most formidable races there. The main reason they aren't often seen is by choice. Most of the time the dwarves keep to their bastions and cities beneath the ground, many of which under the Chaste Mountains. These together form various nation states called Unions, the largest of which being the Union of Ruhl.
As one of the oldest Unions, it is said Ruhl was formed by the three most stable cities to survive the calamity. It was necessary to stave off destruction brought by the ravening beasts who now prowled the Elden Low Ways and the Twilight Roads. That and the frequent incursions of neighboring rival states desperate for their resources. They have grown over the years through shrewd diplomacy, economic growth, and military might. All made possible by the abundance of precious metals in their borders.
The government of Ruhl is divided into two chambers. Like all Unions, the first chamber is an assembly of elected representatives from every clan. What's different is the second chamber, called the Triumvirate, which is formed from the lords of each founding city. While the assembly's numbers may fluctuate, the Triumvirate always numbers numbers three. Together they decide policy and direct agenda while also maintaining a balance of powers.
Maintaining order for Ruhl are its legions, comprised of highly disciplined and motivated volunteers. It is divided mostly into light and heavy infantry with women disproportionately making up the light while opposite is true of the heavy. The light infantry wear mail shirts and use round shields. For offense, they rely on assortment of weapons. Primarily javelins and slings are used though they can resort to short swords or spears when necessary. The heavy infantry use thick plate armor and tower shields in conjunction with long swords. They fight in tight formations, forming walls of steel their enemies break upon while the lighter infantry engage at range. More specialized formations of archers may also be used when there is space for them, but it is often difficult in the tight confines of tunnels and caverns. They lack any formal cavalry for the same reason though outriders are used on the surface.
Dwarves are almost unique in the Sapphic Wilds for having a proportionally higher than average percentage of males in their populations. This may be due to a natural resistance against magic or because they've mostly settled beneath the Chaste Mountains. It might be a combination of the two. That said, whatever resistance they have is not absolute; there are still more women than not. Another consequence of this partial immunity is a strange sexual dimorphism, something almost unheard of in the civilized races. While the male dwarves would appear as expected, shorter than humans but more muscular, female dwarves look closer to humans. Teenage or adolescent humans to be specific. They are youthful in appearance, though usually well-endowed, and possessing slightly pointed ears not that unlike half-elves. They are also more feminine than their cousins outside the Sapphic Wilds. Despite these differences and the disparity in numbers, the Union of Ruhl is a strict meritocracy regardless of gender.
Lunari Halidom
No one is quite sure when Dark Elves first settled in the Sapphic Wilds though it's clear they've been there a long time. Nearly as long as the Wilds have existed, if not longer. What is more clear is how well they've thrived. Whether through their affinity for the supernatural or the shocking compatibility of their culture with all the changes in the surrounding environs, the calamity did not have as drastic an impact on them as other races. This in turn has allowed the Dark Elves to rival eve the Dwarven Unions in the region. This is especially true of the Lunari Halidom, an incredibly influential and theocratic state beneath the Chaste Mountains.
The society within the Lunari Halidom shares many parallels with its cousins in the outside world. It is deeply religious with its people venerating a whole pantheon of deities. It has a complex caste system with a few elites at the top, the majority somewhere in the middle, and slaves at the bottom. The Halidom is also matriarchal, though not necessarily for the same reasons. Rather, this is more a direct result of their environment than anything else. There are far fewer men than women because of the calamity, leaving the latter to fulfill many of the roles normally taken by the former. Another consequence of this is men are not viewed as worthless unlike in other Drowish societies. Their lives are neither squandered or ignored.
Another difference is found in their religion. The Dark Elves of the Halidom worship the Night, the Moon, and the Stars instead of simply death or darkness. This is origin of the Lunari Halidom's name for it is the Goddess of the Moon who they have sworn fealty to. Other deities are still worshiped, like the Goddess of Spiders, though they are usually regarded as minor and most are still associated with the night in some way. Astronomy and Astrology are important parts of their culture and despite living mostly underground, they are some of the best celestial navigators in the world. Such is their love for the night that magic is used to create false starry skies on the ceilings of the caverns in which their cities reside.
The Dark Elves of the Halidom are broken up into different castes. The Priestesses are at the top of society, acting as both temporal and spiritual leaders. Beneath them are the noble houses from whom prospects for priesthood are drawn. They manage more mundane affairs and, on paper, ensure everything runs smoothly. In practice, they spend a lot of time vying for influence and competing to see whose daughters join the Priesthood. Beneath them are the Workers and Merchants who pledge loyalty to a given noble family in exchange for protection and patronage. There are separate but parallel castes specifically for men that behave like military orders or paramilitaries, the most important being the Kouropalates. They are men born from the most important families who act as advisors and bodyguards to the Priestesses. At the bottom of their society are the slaves who fulfill any number of duties or functions, most of which even the poorest Dark Elf refuse to do. Mining, cleaning the streets and sewers of the Halidom, working in agriculture or food production. Slaves may even even be forced to fight in war, forming ranks of poorly equipped – and expendable – soldiery to shield their masters.
Of course, the Dark Elven society would be hard pressed to function without these slaves so they frequently conduct raids to replenish their stocks. Any polity will suffer a raid if the Halidom senses weakness or sees a vulnerability, whether it's another Dark Elf kingdom or a Dwarven Union. City States on the surface and nomads will also be attacked were possible. Of course, the noble houses within the Halidom or not above buying slaves from other races nor are they against selling slaves to them. In fact, the Halidom is notorious for its slave trade with the outside world. Unsurprisingly, the Dark Elves will also enslave fae who may fetch huge sums with kingdoms on the other side of the chaste mountains. However, nothing is more delicious to the Dark Elves than a noble falling from grace and ending up a slave. Their fables are full of such tales where women lose duels or lose their wealth in a failed scheme. Of course, just as common are stories of meteoric returns and revenge against those who wronged them.
When not trying to capture slaves, they prefer duplicity and subterfuge over total war. Dark Elves are notorious for their skills as assassins and spies and the Lunari Halidom is no exception. Rumors suggest there are numerous guilds or houses dedicated to those crafts alone. Even when war is unavoidable, these skills will be put to use attacking the leadership and logistics of their enemies. An army will often fall apart if it has no food or no general leading it. When that fails, or if an enemy is persistent, it will be harried at every turn by attackers who seem to come out of nowhere and disappear as quickly as they came. If this fails, the Halidom will send out massed ranks of conscripts and slaves to swamp a foe and exhaust them before being put down by spear and bow of a small but professional army. Dark Elven warriors prefer light armor like chain mail or linen, though the men will fight in heavier plate if called upon.
The Dark Elves in the Sapphic wilds are very diverse in appearance. Skin colors range from blue, purple and grey to brown and black. Hair colors likewise cover a spectrum with white or silver being very common as well as blonde, green, blue, and varying shades of purple or red. Eyes may also come in just as many colors. One quality they share with Dark Elves in the outside world is their vanity. Beauty and high fashion are coveted with even poorer members of society expending resources to look attractive.
Empire of the Golden sun
Rumors persist that somewhere deep in the Sapphic Wilds is the remnants of a once great empire. The last vestiges of an advanced civilization who possessed unfathomable knowledge in both magic and the sciences. Some even whisper it was they, in their arrogance, who caused the great calamity. None of this can be confirmed, of course, for few outsiders who go looking ever return. They are thought lost to all the perils of the Wilds.
However those who live here believe in something far worse. That these would-be explorers found exactly what they were looking for. The locals have their own stories of the Empire. The City States speak of vengeful ghosts with eyes which burn with blue flame who punish all those with too much ambition. The Narabae tell of phantoms in golden armor appearing at night and attacking anyone they come across, dragging any survivors off into the darkness. The fae themselves warn of the Golden Host, an anathema not to just to their kind but all life. But it is the nigh mythical Suzerainty of the Night who may know best what the Empire is or at least was. If they are to be believed, of course.
In their stories, the Empire of the Golden Sun delved into forbidden knowledge in their bid for supremacy and to survive the calamity. The Empire was a cruel patriarchy which was, depending on who is asked, either cursed by a Goddess for their treatment of women or more likely just fearful of the gender-bending affects the land would have on them. Regardless, their solution to this plight was to transcend flesh through binding their souls to their golden suits of armor. In so doing, they would not just be free of that malady but all physical ailments. It proved to be a terrible success that came at great cost and an even greater price. Their bodies turned to ash and their souls manifested as blue flame trapped inside metal. To fuel this fire, they needed to drain the magic or life of others. Mortals, fae. It did not matter.
The lower classes that did not 'transcend' were turned into slaves and cattle to feed what was left of the Empire. However, this alone would not be sustainable even with intensive breeding programs. Naturally this meant the Golden Hosts would have to conduct raids to replenish what they consume. Of course, and of those men who are born in their pens or taken captive? A select few may earn the right to shed their bodies and become new members. The womenfolk, however, are destined solely to slavery. As servants, as breeders, and as nourishment. If the Succubi are to be believed.
Intentions
This profile was created to experience a wide range of fantasies in a defined but still flexible setting. Numerous scenarios are possible through its framework and while most are one shot, basically grab and gulp, it is still possible to experience something longer and story driven. The big take away is survival of the fittest, nature at its best and worst. Where the strong eat the weak. Of course, the tables could just as easily be turned so any would-be predator should watch out!
Adventurers
This setting lends itself well to the archetypal band of adventurers seeking fame and fortune. Both can be found in spades for the brave, though and unfortunate end awaits the unprepared as the Sapphic Wilds is incredibly dangerous. Insidious traps, wild magics, strange phenomena, carnivorous plants, and voracious beasts all await these thrill seekers! But should each challenge be surmounted, they may find ancient treasures. Forbidden artifacts or mountains of gold. Even the minerals and herbs of the Wild are worth something to a whole lot of people and make the risky journey worthwhile.
Can be used in conjunction with Adventuring_Guild.
Predator vs Prey
Although truth be told, my true inspiration for the Sapphic Wild are nature documentaries. There is just something about the predator-prey relationship that inspires exhilaration inside me! How the predator has adapted to hunt its prey and how the prey has evolved to escape. I wanted to emulate that but with fae. Whether it's fae on fae, beast on fae, or plant on fae. I want to see how the predator hunts and how it subdues its quarry and how it eats. Survival of the fittest is my mantra here and I want to see it unfold.
Hunting
On a similar but different note to merely predators hunting prey, or 'beast' stalking 'beast', this idea is all about 'man' stalking 'beast'. A civilized hunter pursuing feral (or not-so-feral) prey. You know, man vs wild. A human or elf or something else testing themselves against the dangers of the Sapphic Wilds, armed only with their whits and the clothes on their back. Or maybe they have other gear. Blowguns, wands, bolos or nets, shackles and rope. Anything to help them overcome the fae and bag a girl. And there are a number of possible reasons for it that we can explore!
1. A rite of passage. A young, aspiring hunter is coming into adulthood and needs to prove themselves.
2. Fae clothing. Since I'm definitely 100% NOT into skinning, the closest thing that comes to furs are the clothing that fae miraculously have. The hunter is clearly out to trap fae and peel off their clothing to be sold back in civilization. What the hunter/trapper does with the actual fae afterwards is up to them~
3. Taming /enslavement. Hunting wild fae to put them to service. Like with dogs, horses, cows, and the like. Maybe humanity needs fae horse girls to pull wagons or maybe elves like racing them. Maybe someone likes fae breastmilk and captures them for that express purpose. Presumably involves a lot of BDSM. May make use of magical enslavement chokers or tattoos/brands.
4. Trophy hunting. Maybe the hunter just likes having trophies. Either the fae themselves or the lingerie they wear. Mounted on a wall or in a trophy case. Again, involves a lot of bondage. Fae can be snuffed or not, but no amputation or dismemberment.
5. Gaining magic. This is an idea I've kicked around for a while. Perhaps one of the only ways magic users can gain magic is either by wearing fae clothing or eating fae. Like, to get fire magic a witch or sorcerer has to eat a fire spirit of some kind. Play can follow either a veteran or maybe an aspiring mage who wants to learn his or her first spells. Could be an initiation thing.
6. Catch and release. Maybe the goal isn't a meal or to snuff out the captured the fae. As in real life, some might be interested or concerned about maintaining healthy populations of fae for sustainability or conservation. To do that, it's important to gauge their health and that's only possible with a live specimen that has been thoroughly subdued. That way they can be tested and inspected and possibly raped before being released back into the wild.
Inspection
Something I enjoy that works very well in conjunction with hunting is the inspection of captured prey. There's something intimate and yet humiliating about being ogled and measured and being felt up while incapacitated or snuffed. Especially to make sure I was a healthy specimen or even to see if I am a record-breaking catch. Really, there are any number of excuses to do it.
Naturally erogenous zones are the most obvious place to start. Fondling breasts and measuring their sizes is a good start. Fingering a fae's cunny to check and see if she's healthy or whatever. Maybe to see if she had been or is in heat. Checking armpits and the soles of a fae's feet are another area to explore as well. Again, fondling and measuring perhaps or even smelling and tasting. The mouth should not be ignored, either. It's always a good idea to check her tongue and teeth and to prod around in there with fingers. It's so lewd, I love it.
Observing accessories and extremities are another way to go. Just as with real hunting, it's important to look at things like horns, antlers, or animal appendages like fins and wings. Fae are magical creatures, though, and looking at the magically crafted clothing or accessories they wear is something that can be explored with them.
These are just a few examples and any number of inspiration can be drawn from hunting, fishing, and fowling.
Creativity
The Sapphic Wilds are a big place so it should go without saying that all the different races, flora, and fauna listed in this profile are only a fraction of what's out there. They are simply a showcase, examples of what are and what could be found in there. Different versions not listed can be played instead or whole new races and species not thought of yet.
I do want to encourage creativity.
Especially in how prey is hunted or subdued. As part of the adaptation page, I put an awful lot of thought in how prey try to survive and how predators might try to catch them.
Of course, if you do want to use anything listed then that's okay as well.
Images and Depiction
It should go without saying but treat all images as approximations or speculative regarding how each fae species looks. They may not be a 100% accurate, certainly not in how they might behave. Most images will change and cycle any time you refresh the page so I encourage you to do that!
Preferences
So, what do I like or expect from play? It's a very important question! There's a lot I expect and a lot I am after and it can get a little complicated or overwhelming. Fortunately for you I have gone to great lengths to spell those things out under my main profile, The_Queen_Consort. I encourage you to look this stuff over before approaching me. If it's too much, I totally understand. I won't hold it against you. But please don't lie to me and say you have when you haven't. I will be very disappointed.
