Introduction:

Velvet is a Musia, an alien species of humanoids that have mouse-like characteristics, and are very technologically advanced, as well as often known for possessing an extensive interstellar colonial empire. Velvet was born to a mother who was a biological researcher, and undertaking a project to categorize each and every living species located within the Musia's colonized planets. Velvet greatly admired her mother, and took a passion in ecology after her. However, when observing her intellect, most people around her instead believed she was destined to be more like her father, a robotics engineer with a special talent for drones. Issue is, Velvet liked both, but preferred doing them out of her passion, and not because other people told her to do so. It's why she loved her mother: she was a freelance researcher, and did things on her own volition, rather than as an obligation. This kind of alienated her from her peers, as Musians often prize utmost dedication to their labor.

Her mother unfortunately passed away, thanks to contracting a disease for which the cure was not yet known. Velvet was determined to follow after her mother's footsteps, and embarked on her own quest, but instead of catagolizing all species from Musian planets, she also sought to catagolize species from other civilizations' planets as well. This led her to meet a lot of fellow space travellers in her adventurers, as well as helping her develop better social skills. She's still a lovable and awkward smol doof, though. Despite hardly visiting her home after leaving, she still maintained regular contact with her father, not wanting to sever her family bonds - after all, it was he who taught her how to operate the spaceships and powered armor she's taken such an affinity for. She would continue doing this until his late days, when he finally passed away.

Now with no immediate family left, Velvet largely spends her time roaming the stars, admiring plant life, continuing the project her late mother had started, and seeking company in new friends she meets. And perhaps, sometimes, "collecting info on bacterial colonies within living beings' digestive systems..."

Abilities:

Musia do not possess any particularly powerful special abilities like telekinesis, or resistance to substances. Their area of specialty is agility and mobility - they are known for being able to move surprisingly fast, and can climb vertical surfaces like ants and spiders. They also possess a very strong bite, which is often used to chew through objects.

However, Velvet herself does possess access to a strong technological arsenal. For starters, she has a spaceship, which has a formidable weapons system. She is also able to call in drones from her ship, to serve as useful assistants in combat. But the ace up her sleeve is her suit of powered armor, which greatly increases her resistance to damage (and stomach acids!) in addition to letting her fly and use heavy-grade weaponry, such as kinetic railguns and plasma cannons. Of course, the suit naturally has drawbacks in its bulkiness, meaning it gets quite uncomfortable to wear at long term - indeed, Velvet generally hates wearing the suit while it's not necessary to do so. It also can't be equipped in middle of combat unless Velvet can find a safe spot to do so, as it takes quite a while to board it. On the other hand, the suit can be set to use an automatic combat AI, meaning it can pose a threat even if Velvet isn't wearing it.

Velvet always carries two PDAs that lets her access all of her gadgets. The first one is cleverly disguised as a common smartphone, which is easier and more ergonomic to use, but can also be knocked away. The second is attached to her arm like a bracelet (or a Pip-Boy, if you're into Fallout), and can't be knocked away. However, it is less ergonomic due to having a tighter interface, and Velvet dislikes using that one.
