An introverted painter who lives in a lonely wing of the royal castle in the world of Paskua, Aubrei is a rather shy soul with a kind and gentle disposition. Talk to him about painting, however, and watch him bubble over with excitement. Hardly anyone except for a handful of servants knows he's an inhabitant of the castle, but what's even stranger is that the king's only son and heir has not made any public appearances for years ever since the painter mysteriously appeared.
Aubrei's greatest dream is to bring joy to people's lives—although he hasn't much in way of martial prowess or incredible charisma, he uses his talent in art to paint the wonders of life. To accomplish such an abstract goal, pure talent and skill would not suffice; he needed something that could draw out the magic of life itself. Something that could be used as a pigment...
Rainbows are a common sight in Paskua, but more so in spring due to the latent magical energies in the atmosphere. Like a streak of colorful paint across an azure canvas, they attract strange, otherworldly creatures known as Crystals, whose multicolored bodies reflect the celestial bridges.
With his trusty palette in hand, Aubrei decided to go in search of the legendary Rainbow Paint, a pigment that can only be made with the minerals of a Crystal's body. However, their mysterious rituals were a trial to decipher, until the appearance of an energetic royal guard and her little mishap sparked an idea in his head. Glancing down at his palette, he suddenly knew what needed to be done...
Along with Rabi, the dutiful royal guard who first stumbled upon the Crystals, Aubrei managed to unravel the mystery of their rituals, culminating in the appearance of the most legendary among them—the fabled Rainbow Crystal. Its wondrous voice was filled with kindness as it encouraged the young painter to pursue his dream of creating art so evocative they moved hearts and touched souls. With its generous blessing and several days' worth of collected material, Aubrei was finally able to create enough Rainbow Paint to complete his masterpiece...a portrait of the royal family. Notably, the portrait includes Aubrei himself.
The king's only son, the mysterious prince who had shied away from public appearance for years...was Aubrei all along.
Recounting all this brings a wistful look to Aubrei's eyes. He is grateful to his father for allowing him at least a degree of freedom to pursue his true wish—to paint the joy of life for his people instead of lead them as the future heir to the throne—but what he had truly missed was the warmth of family and kinship. Aubrei hopes that his portrait will help the king understand that the gift of joy is as important as pragmatism, and that this is his chosen path in life.
Rabi, rather quickly after their adventures, became connected to Aubrei. And he did to her. A royal guard that mistook him as a girl for most of their adventure, nor realizing he was the prince, quickly seemed to had fallen for the royal. The Crystals themselves seemed to have magically made the two come together as if they were a romantic pair the entire time. Now, this profile has entirely been made to fit the exact character's lore. However, to make it fit the whole "Nexus" I'll happily take revisions and try and accomodate to everyone who may want to play with this innocent bunny boi. Essentially, I can play him as a sassy prince if you want, who gets annoyed being called a girl, despite clearly enjoying looking and acting like one. In this type of play Aubrei will be unwilling for a lot of stuff, being a sort of shut in type of person. Not entirely different from how he was originally written, but he'll certainly have a lot of sass in his ass that's for sure~ ;)
