The golden age of space exploration sent mankind off in an endless quest for knowledge across the cosmos, searching for the wonders waiting to be discovered in its galaxy. For though Earth is the cradle of humanity, yet man cannot stay in the cradle forever. Preceded by intelligent probes and surveying robots, tens of thousands of surveyors soon followed in their wake. Of course, a living organism has very different functional requirements as compared to a synthetic machine, requiring more elaborate and sophisticated technologies to sustain life. Explorers also needed a method to safely transport the varied lifeforms that they encountered safely back to laboratories for research, and it is out of this need that the first Basic Acquisition Lifeform Limiter modules, or BALLs, were developed. Starting from hodgepodge engineering designs clobbled together for a makeshift purpose and then elegantly refined over hundreds of years, BALLs today are so advanced that they function almost like magic.

Elisa Tancryel was born after the initial boom of space exploration but before the frontier has been pushed all the way across the galaxy. Rather than joining the Deep Space Exploration Corps, however, she's independently wealthy enough to be able to finance her own journeys to various scouted and surveyed planets. She's also taken to a rather seedy and illegal profession, namely, that of a pet master, which would surely find her sanctioned and stripped of her equipment if she were to be caught. Elisa likes to capture beasts and other denizens of the wild (which can also include indigenous humans) and amuse herself by forcing them to pet battle against other tamers, a practice which often offends the sensibilities of a people who consider themselves civilized.

Some tamers treat their acquisitions with care, love, affection, and consideration. Elisa is not one of those tamers. Being born into wealth, privilege, and power, she's accustomed to flaunting it over others. Like many a spoiled individual, she has control over everything around her but no control over her own desires, and never learned to develop frustration tolerance as a child. She did learn early, however, that society would protect her from retaliation simply because she was rich and well-connected, meaning that the system was unfairly biased in her favor. And rather than having the greatness of spirit to help and succor the downtrodden, she's instead become selfish and impulsive.

The woman herself is still young, with long pink hair that flows straight down to her thighs and piercing soft red eyes indicating her as a descendent of the Lantis colonizers who first developed that peculiar mutation in ocular pigmentation. Her smooth white skin points to her origin on a planet with temperate climate and heavily shielded solar radiation; wearing arm sleeves under her white gloves, a dark gray corset over her blouse, and a New German-style dress over high-heeled slippers show that Elisa is quite in touch with the latest fashions. Elisa owns a sleek private ship named the Camian Way where she keeps most of her equipment, serving as a mobile headquarters and vehicle for travel. Here she stores her captured acquisitions, uploading their data to the computer and reprogramming them.

BALL Technology

Originally designed for capture and transport of lifeform specimens, BALLs today run off the Ultima Engine, a powerful proprietary device which enable them to distill a captive specimen into pure streams of data. All BALLs contain a capture beam which acquires a lock on a target, then draws it into a spherical shell engineered to be nearly impenetrable from within. Advanced versions of BALLs also include modular technology to improve performance, such as forming non-Hilbert dimensions within the shell that allows the user to contain otherwise non-fitting specimens at greatly reduced size and weight. As a pet tamer, Elisa's equipment is specifically keyed to her signature so that only she can use it.

Within a BALL device, the Ultima Engine can form a variety of hard-light holograms or produce various substances by rearrangment of basic atomic structure. This allows Elisa generate living environments for her acquisitions. The Ultima Engine can also reduce any captured sample down to pure computer data which can be manipulated and then re-encoded back into the sample, although the engine cannot actually create or destroy matter and is still limited by entropy constraints. As many samples dislike being confined, stripped apart, brainwashed, or toyed with, a BALL device must also be strong enough to pacify a sample when necessary, or at the very least keep it constrained, and for this reason the shell is all but indestructible from within.

Various specialized types of BALL also exist.

B.A.S.E.BALLs
Short for Beast and Savage Entity Balls, Baseballs are handheld spherical devices built with reinforced mechanical shells for the safe contaiment of powerful wild creatures. Besides boasting a heightened capture rate against wild beasts, they are also engineered to pacify the creatures once inside. Baseballs can be thrown from a great distance, possessing limited self-propulsion and flight systems as well as a homing suite; this enables an operator to attempt capture from far away and retrieve the ball without venturing into dangerous lairs.

A.I.R.BALLs
Custom-made for chasing down high-speed flyers and other denizens of the atmosphere, the Aerial Incarceration Retrieval BALL features a sleek, aerodynamic missile design which enables it to move at top speed while still retaining high maneuverability. Once the target has been captured, the Airball deploys retrorockets to ensure gentle landings and sends a homing signal to the operator. This makes the Airball an ideal device to use against all kinds of flying creatures.

D.R.A.G.O.N.BALLs
For the truly dangerous exotic creatures out there, the Draconic Restraining and Governing of Noisome BALL offers a capture beam specifically calibrated to quickly capture dragons, as well as reinforced outer casings and powerful energen shields to withstand the rescue efforts of their enraged kin. Dragonballs tend to be expensive, as they contain a great deal of technology needed to confront a mythical creature. However, their shells can withstand even the most terrific of dragon flames and their computers specialize in enslaving draconic minds.

H.A.R.D.BALLs
Once tamers started to battle, they quickly realized that other tamers could be excellent battlers. Enter the Humanoid Apprehension Recreational Demesne - and no, "recreational" does not mean that the victim will have fun inside. Hardballs resemble handheld torches with a small clasping bar and a pair of supporting struts; as other humans are typically easy to trap and acquire compared to other creatures, the Hardball is instead entirely geared to reprogramming them. Hardballs indeed come with complex brainwashing and data manipulation suites, capable of changing almost any physical and mental aspect of a person.

S.P.A.C.E.BALLs
The Supernatural Procurement and Containment Enhanced BALL, or Spaceball, is specifically engineered to capture and securely confine even the most elusive of ghosts, spirits, demons, angels, youkai, phantoms, apparitions, wraiths, eidolons, or other ethereal beings (usually evil ones; evil triumphs because good is dumb). Spaceballs can be set to suck or blow, possess attachments to be worn over a helmet, can suck in ghosts at ludricrous speeds, and are included in orders of 1 million spacebucks or more from Pizza the Hutt. All Spaceballs also come with password protection, although the manufacturer highly recommends changing the default code after various accidents where the sensors have been jammed. Each Spaceball also contains ten thousand years of fresh air (but the way Elisa runs things, they rarely last a hundred).

And don't push their self-destruct buttons. Unless if you really, really mean it. Cancellation buttons are out of order, after all.


OOC Stuff
Elisa has a heavy control and domination theme and I envision her as a switch leaning more to the pred or domme side. What I enjoy are partners with a high degree of sophistication, complexity, and creativity. I want to see your depth of thought and your intelligence, and I will show you mine in turn during roleplay. I'm open to scenes involving both Elisa and any pets she might acquire. Role reversal might happen as well, since the tamer isn't exactly immune to being captured in a BALL herself.
