Hitakaya is a more rural monstergirl than the city sorts like
Gelda or
Farina, owing perhaps to her species needs. Kappa, after all, have a great need of very pure water to keep themselves refreshed, which has led to a number of unowned hot springs being bought up by various kappa families, ones which jealously guard their precious resource and often lobby for stricter laws protecting their needs and stronger punishments for humans who dirty up the springs, sometimes rendering them completely unusable.
With such a need, the waters anywhere near any sort of industrial area are of course utterly unfit for kappa use, outside of a few springs drilled and protected in urban areas specifically for the amphibious monstergirls, some of whom after all end up having to work long hours in the city. Hitakaya, of the rather well-regarded Sankawa family, is one of the lucky kappa who has been able to avoid such a need so far. Her family owns the land surrounding a very small heated spring in a fairly difficult patch of forest, one that is perfect for their needs and unbelievably pure.
The girl herself? She is distinctly not human, bearing a definite but pale greenish tint to her skin, as well as deep green hair. Her eyes, too, are a definitely non-human shade of yellow. In the midst of her hair nestles a flower, a water lily in fact, its wide blossom home to the "hollow" that most tales speak of kappa having, though draining it will not actually outright harm her. She also bears slight webbing between her fingers, and her toes as well, though the latter are rarely uncovered, and on her back, attached to her back by special flexible bones, is the upper hard half of a turtle's shell, domed enough that she can curl up in it, or completely withdraw herself into it if need be. There is no lower half, however, so her body is not covered by anything but her clothing when she is standing upright.
Personality-wise, as a member of one of the more "noble" kappa families, Hitakaya is always proper and diplomatic. Careful but firm, serving but not submissive, she is in every aspect of her bearing the perfect Japanese wife, a yamato nadeshiko in every meaning of the phrase. Excepting, of course, that she has no-one whose wife she can be...
