Mihama_Academy_GC

As some might know, Grisaia is a series of adult visual novels. An anime adaption has been made as well, but especially the first season, Fruit of Grisaia, disappointed many fans due to rushed, bad pacing and weird changes of some characters and story arcs. The visual novels, though, are highly regarded as some of the best of the genre.

Although (at least in the uncensored version) there is also quite a bit of lewd and porn content, Grisaia is so much more than that. Not only the soundtrack and the artwork / visuals are excellent, the most outstanding points in the series are the well-developed, quirky, unique characters and a touching, emotional, captivating and intriguing story. At times, it gets a bit silly or exaggerateed, but it is part of the charm and humor, and it almost feels like the visual novels mock certain tropes common to school / harem settings, while at the same time avoiding becoming awkyard or forced in the meantime. Another interesting thing is the delving into psychological and philosophical topics - many of the characters faced some kind of trauma and have to somehow deal with it and learn to live on.

Grisaia mainly takes place in a fictional, small city in Japan, where six students attend Mihama Academy, a school specially founded for those having trouble with a normal learning environment due to their issues (for example, PTSD or depression). Due to liking the games and the characters so much, and since the various personalities of the students make for an interesting mix, this is a sort of 'tribute' to the Grisaia series. I pondered rather long on how to best do this - maybe pouring so many thoughts into this when in the end, it is about kinky and vorish roleplays seems stupid. But for me, it has 'to feel right', and the more I like certain characters, the greater I care about details. Silly as it might seem, I want to do the characters and the source material proper justice.

And so, I tried to come up with a plausible explanation for the academy and the people involved landing in Nexus. But could someone with deep emotional trauma really behave 'normal' in a vorish scenario? What about family and so on? After a while, it occured that it just would not work that way, at least under my premise of not altering the chars completely and representing them true to the canon. Luckily, there are alternatives. Yuuji's master Asako once said, if you don't like the cards that you are dealt, you should flip the table. Instead of trying to improve your strategy for resolving a situation, a better way might be to change the situation itself.

In this case, I figured to not use the original characters, but just have them as inspiration while setting up new characters (by the way, the 'reference point', so to say, is some months after Yuuji began attending Mihama Academy in Fruit of Grisaia, after the common route but before any heroine route, more or less). The important and interesting part, for vore/smut rps after all, is to have intriguing, peculiar characters appearing in it while paying hommage to the source material - not exploring their entire past and history. But the chars being merely a copy of an original sounds pityful. After all, the individuals should be independant and free to think and act of their own, not behave like a robot or feel like they are 'second class' compared to the original. In my opinion, the following is best for this particular situation: the characters and the acamedy from Grisaia serve as 'template' on which the GC chars will be based on.

Think of a mad scientist recreating the people that are starring in a game or movie. Something like that, anyway. Although here, the culprit for forming living entities resembling the cast of some popular visual novels is a deity (or was it a demon?) - Zamael_GC. Bored and lusting for a new experience, the powerful being toyed around with the fabric of reality, and soon he succeeded in his endevour. Thus, Mihama Academy in Nexus came to be.

Born from an experiment to escape boredom and pursue lust and a fun time, Zamael_GC shaped and molded Mihama Academy in Nexus, a picture perfect replica, and then created the beings to inhabit it. While flabbergasted and confused at first, the six students and their principal soon decided to just accept their new life and reality, make the best of it and enjoy their time. During the creation process, Zamael made some slight changes and adjustments, though. For instance, although the characters have knowledge about the past of the 'templates' they are based on, but it's not quite the same as a memory. The information and details are slightly fuzzy - and also, since these new chars didn't live through what their inspirations did (being told something is not the same as experiencing it for yourself), they don't share the mental state and trauma. Furthermore, while their relations resemble those of the Grisaia cast, there was a bit of a soft 'reset' (for example concerning Sachi's feeling for her childhood crush Yuuji). They perfectly resemble the physical appearance, though, and their personality also fits.

Speaking of physical traits - Nexus is set in a world where vore is a thing, and so the majority of these characters are vore capable, and have knowledge about that - as well as some rough idea that magic and different creatures like anthros exist. The characters can fall prey to someone, but and I want this setting to be organic and the events taking place being potentially (but not necessarily) canon. However, at the same time I aim to keep the chars around - so, they will have reform abilities (for one-off scenes, we can discuss this, but this will be the standard scenario). Zamael doesn't want his cute, fun, precious creations to get snatched and gurgled for good right away, and so he used some ritual of sorts to ensure everyone studying or working at Mihama Academy will reform after meeting their demise, even keeping the memories (to some degree, the last moments churning to sludge will probably be excluded). Realizing the potential to fiddle around a bit to cater his interests even more, Zamael also brought someone back into the picture that should not be at the academy - Yuuji's master Asako is back and ready to kick ass.

He excluded two others, though, namely Chizuru (finding her a bit bland and thinking Yuria works better for her position), and Kazuki. Yuuji's sister is a genius of such extraordinary proportions that some even felt she was something like a god. And a self-declared deity as Zamael doesn't intend to bring more godlike beings into existance ((OOC: It would also be incredibly hard to 'get her right', and I don't think she fits for vore scenarios that well. Sorry if she is your fav.)) While he respects the free will of the people he brought into existance (and so, accepts the possibility of someone quitting the school), he also thought that an additional incentive to stay at Mihama might be nice, after all the effort that went into setting it up. So, he explained that the reforming ability is, for starters, not permament - it is only active as long as they are enrolled or stay at their job in the academy. However, if someone spends two years at Mihama, they gain the reform ability indefinately, even if they leave later.

The characters thought it was the best to proceed with 'business as usual' anyway until they figure out how they want to live their newly gained life, but now they had all the more reason to do so. Furthermore, the 'protection' is even granted for someone from the outside coming to the school as student or employee - and after opening for the public, a number of new faces have appeared, living together with Zamael's creations. Around half a year has passed and a more or less stable balance between the 'residents' has been established - what will the future bring?

Although filled with some eccentric 'inhabitants', Mihama Academy is a functioning, more or less normal school. The students learn, take tests and exams, and face the usual struggles of student life. While the school is relatively small in scale, the facilities are modern and equipped with the best money can buy. In Grisaia, Yumiko's father is the CEO of a major railway company who uses the significant finances of his corporate conglomerate to provide a suitable environment for his daughter while also keeping her in check (Yumiko once referred to the school as her 'birdgcage', partly due to the function of the school, and also because of the high walls and secured compound). While Zamael provided the school grounds with all the buildings and interior, making a perfect replica, he doesn't want to be bothered with the daily upkeep, and so the students and teachers had to think of a solution for that.

It was Yumiko herself who provided a way to ensure the school is properly funded. As she searched around on the net, she found out that some people are willing to pay good cash for a sexy, kinky or vorish experience with someone of their liking. While she was a bit embaressed at first, in the end Yumiko suggested to the others that they could participate in this kind of sideline business, as long as the education of the students would not be impaired by it. Yuria took the task of setting it all up upon herself, and soon, marketing for 'Mihama Academy Vore Adventures' began in earnest. The students and the staff don't really mind it, in fact, some developed a fondness for the kinky things sometimes taking place, for one reason or another. They were mildly intrigued by the idea of devouring clients and granting them a good time (if not even enjoying it quite a bit). Since they can come back from being churned themselves, falling prey is a temporary hassle and mild nuisance at worst (granted, a sloshy and somewhat painful one, but what can you do), or a kinky, depraved pleasure at best (especilly for those with submissive or masochistic traits).

During the morning and afternoon, the classes take place, although currently only one teacher apart from Yuria is working at the school (some way or another, it works out). In the afternoon, the students have free time to spend at their leisure, be it doing homework, reading in the school library, going into the city, hanging out or whatnot. The evenings are potentially reserved for a client booking one or several of the students or employees, and during the night, everyone sleeps at the large dormitory (albeit maybe in someone's insides). The dorm is not only home to the students, even the staff members have their own rooms there (theoretically they could search for a flat in Nexus, but they find the situation rather convenient). Everyone has their private room including a small kitchen area and bathroom, but there is also a large common room, a big community bath, and facility rooms such as a boiler or a laundry room. On weekends, sometimes the school goes for a trip or tour, but if that is not the case, everyone is free to do as they please, as long as they are not requested by a client.

Speaking of - since it would be unfair if one particular student gets booked all the time, putting strain on them, everybody can get booked for a maximum of two times per week, and not on two weekends in a row. ((I will not keep track of it or anything, just a little detail to make the setting feel more organic and reasonable. This won't have an effect on a scene.)) Reservations must be made in advance, with Yuria being the middleman (well, woman ;) ). More than one person can be asked for, although of course that costs extra. While everyone at Mihama pledged to participate in vorish activities ((in the realm of my normal prefs!)), 'bonus' stuff depends solely on the willingness of the individual in question. Often, clients ask for sex before (or even during) vore, but the students and staff members are not obliged to comply. That being said, the majority usually follows the wishes of the clients and goes with the flow, having a rather casual attitude about lewd things - despite pretty much everyone having someone special at the academy, they don't regard sex as problematic, as long as no romantic feelings are involved in the steamy fun time. Furthermore, everyone at Mihama can reform (so being prey is no biggie), and since the academy is not responsible for the continued well-being of their clients, everybody booking one of the Mihama residents as pred signs a document of consent before things heat up. Someone paying for the 'services' is expected to either take care of it themselves, and / or know fully well what they are getting into. This also means that pretty much nobody at the school has a bad conscience about their actions.

Besides this, there are also some regulations for academy life. Someone leaving the grounds must indicate this on an attendence board, and carry a cellphone to enable communication if need be. Tasks and orders of the stuff are expected to be followed (although some, for example Yuuji or Makina, are notorious for bending the rules and doing what they want). Intimate relationships are not actively endorsed, but they are allowed as long as the lessons are not disturbed, although student-teacher relations are forbidden. That being said, there is no rule preventing intimacy between students and other staff members apart from teaching personnel, as long as it does not affect anything else. Also, the Nexus can be a dangerous place, with many powerful beings roaming around. The school has one official security guard, Asako. While a number of the students actually have some skills and can give assistance, in case of an emergency, Asako is in command and will oversee the safety and defense of the academy and the people there. Of course, they might just call out for Zamael, who created 8 of them, but always relying on others will lead to a bad attitude - if you don't need to do anything on your own, why bother trying in the first place.
