Zephos

Zephos Veragarde (Zeph, Zephy) is a 7' tall dragon.

At least, mostly. His father was a proper, considerably larger dragon. His mother was a human witch. Their alliance was formed in a time when both were hunted for plaguing society. Naturally, this hybrid's purpose was to combine the might and ferocity dragons are known for, with the higher mind and magical affinities only his mother could provide.

Zephos instead found himself gaining no benefit from his ancestry. He'd never grow to the scale or physical power of his father, nor did he have much in the ways of magic potential. Worst of all, one look was all anyone would need to know he wasn't human.

He was useless to them. So, while the couple went on stirring chaos, Zephos was left to find purpose without them. He has not forgotten when they've last met, but it didn't concern the dragon with what family he's lost.

He's made new family here. To spite the legacy of his parents, Zephos did find use in his mother's wits when it came to making friends, as well as his father's strength when it came to protecting them.

Zephos is a lesser water dragon. While his father could beckon massive, terrible storms in his wake, Zeph's control of water is considerably more limited. It can only be fresh or purified for him to manipulate, and the most he's managed to influence at once is five gallons.

Because of what few, mostly unpleasant experiences he's had with other dragons, Zephos finds himself having an easier time relating to other winged folk. It's this that draws him to harpies more than anything else.

Zephos is a bit of a dork, but he's happy to be somewhere he feels he belongs. Should fate allow, he looks forward to being your friend!

---Events!---

The kind (in the moment) Ichor_Djinniri granted Zephos the ability to breathe underwater! He's more than happy to demonstrate this skill to his peers!

Zephos made a friend in Morgon_Vanisia. However, the goddess had more than friendship in mind with this dragon, and put him under a hypnotic spell! With his will broken, Zephos served as the vampire's pet and plaything. Ultimately, the kind goddess released him, giving the boy a chance to live freely. Should she decide to take him back however, it's unlikely he'll put up much resistance.

Inspired by Nell_Naga, and trained by Rowigrath, Zephos has learned how to prepare Earl Gray Tea and Pimm's Scones! While he lacks in knowing how to prepare any other varieties, he's more than willing to share these treats with the public!

Rebecca_Abernathy, a friend Zephos made along his stay, made a request before her ominous depart: To take care of Genivieve, her cat, should she not return. The dragon is now honor-bound to see to the cat's safety, at least until Rebecca tells him otherwise.

Zephos found himself defeated. All his kind words and propositions wouldn't be enough to keep TinkerChan from digesting his friend, one that has saved his life before. He was too weak and too passive to save her in time, and vowed that this would be the last time he stands idly by! The dragon is on a mission to grow stronger, that he may one day avenge his friend!

Zephos's bakery has become a huge success! Mainly, it was because of two customers: Montie and Tabella. After buying the dragon's entire stock at the time, the noble proceeded to pay more than double it's worth, so Tabella could sate her hunger for the dragon himself! Details from there were a blur, but when the dragon came to again, he found that his safe was filled to the brim with currency. For taking such a risk, the dragon can afford this home-made career almost indefinitely.

Zeph's career ended when Cysh ate his entire house, along with all the money he had vaulted inside. He's left without job or home, and a bunch of cooking skills useless without a kitchen.

Hope wasn't lost, however! Wandering through town, the dragon stumbled on another bakery, owned by none other than ButtercupBunny! After demonstrating his talents for the good of a whole work day, Zephos has found himself employed again, working hard in the bunny's kitchen.

Zephos found a lonesome harpy child by name of Zipporah_Aderyn. The two immediately became close friends and, since they had no families of their own to turn to, found themselves referencing each other as brother and sister. Though not connected by blood, the sincerity in their bond remains the same.

The dragon had an incredibly near-fatal encounter with Susrani. In hopes of making a polite introduction, the fool found himself accidentally making, and quickly attempting to deny, business with an actual devil. In hopes that his soul would be spared from complete destruction, he followed the demon's orders, hoping she'd forgive him for her time wasted. Eventually she'd release him...But not before destroying his body in her stomach, and trapping his soul in her rump for an entire day of mind-breaking bliss. With his soul losing almost all memory of its past life, Susrani would ultimately give him the mercy he asked for, releasing him again. Zephos survived, but only has the most basic information to who he is, or what he's done.

He's had the fortune to stumble into most of his friends, though he couldn't recognize them. They helped him back to Buttercup's Bakery. His baking talents were mostly lost, but that didn't keep his employer from offering to retrain him and giving him shelter. The dragon's main ambition now is to recapture the life he's forgotten, to remember his past choices that led him to being the dork he once was.

The dragon's made a lot of progress recovering. The first memories restored were, naturally, his baking talents. Though he failed to recognize her, a Feesh who felt fondly of him before the incident would quickly find herself in the dragon's heart and the center of his thoughts. The boy was in love! Only days after their confession, the then-Queen Rebecca Abernathy found it in herself to bestow her old friend a new home. Given so much support in so little time, the dragon would find himself slowly regaining what memories he thought were destroyed.

By the time his birthday's rolled around, the dragon's made a complete recovery! He's also received to presents of note: a very authentic pirate's hat, and a flamethrower which might've come from his favorite merc friend. He's a happy, if slightly more dangerous dragon now!

Zephos has gone missing! His last known whereabouts were aboard the Hagfish, in a conflict with the Pierates. The boy tried to save a prisoner with only a library book and his willpower, but despite his best efforts and unbelievable luck, the pierates not only kept their catch, but possibly added Zephos to their brig as well! No one's seen that dragon since the Hagfish vanished off the horizon...

...At least, for a couple of days! After a couple of failed escape attempts, the boy's actually managed to make himself friends with the goo-loving pirates! He's declined the offer to join the crew, having friends and other important commitments back home, but he seems to be a welcome guest on the Hagfish now.

So Zeph has done a lot since then! Some of his many accomplishments include falling in love with a dragon-eating ribombee named Pollen, appeared on Syndrica's intergalactic game-show a couple of times, and generally made more friends without finding himself in too much trouble. It seems like things have just kept turning up for the goofball of a dragon!

Zephos has recently welcomed Chiyu Hirata into his life as an adoptive sister. Not long after, he'd find himself being called "Papa" by his adoptive daughter Ariata! His family seems to be growing more and more, and he couldn't be happier about it.

He wasn't expecting things to go the other way around, but after plenty of discussion, he's found himself adopted as well! In place of his absentee parents is the lovely hotspring-owning Oni named Tieren!

It seems the dragon's been...more reclusive these days. After falling out with Pollen, Zeph's focus on the company he holds dear simply hasn't been as strong as it used to be. He's become more aware of this issue of late, and is hoping to return to his former self soon.
